Doctor Who series 11 wasn't the best, but I liked the new feel of the series more than I ever liked Steven Moffat's dumbass fairy tale shit. I'd go as far as to say that I enjoyed Demons of the Punjab more than I like any Peter Capaldi episode, and I was looking forward to his run as the Doctor.

There's a stinker or two, like Arachnids in the UK - especially with the shoehorned political commentary that was trying to have its cake and eat it too. But it's not bad enough to saddle it with a 22% critical reception score. That season was plagued with a bunch of triggered bitch boys who were shitty about the female Doctor, too.

I'd rank the season as being above most of Moffat's seasons, just because I hate how wanky most of his run was, but it wasn't the best. It's hardly the worst season of Doctor Who, though, and I'm confident enough to say that most folks who were vocal about it being the worst thing ever are a bunch of upset pussies.

I played the Beginner league of Stunt Race FX, and I started playing Breath of Fire.

Honestly, I can't fathom why they didn't put any old RPGs on the NES library. Breath of Fire is going to keep me occupied for weeks. Pretty much every NES game was a fun curiosity, except for Dr. Mario - Dragon Quest would have been an excellent addition to the NES library.

True, but this cover is exceptionally good and it stands out on its own. Even the best aspects of the game proper are marred by flaws that exist in the game's bedrock, and even then a majority of it is kinda weak. This cover exists separate from those flaws, and remains as a monument to what Fallout 76 should have been.

This is an excellent song wasted on a middling-at-best game. I'm not going to cry over the Ghoul skins, or the Power Armor, or the Deathclaw models - but this cover deserved to represent a better game.

A white supremacist who called himself Muslim Slayer sent white powder and threatening letters to The Queen, Theresa May, and David Cameron during a two-year race hate campaign, the Old Bailey heard today.

David Parnham, 36, was behind the Punish a Muslim Day series of letters which offered financial rewards for violent attacks, and sent packages of white powder to high profile figures as well as a string of mosques, the Home Office, and the Bank of England.

In his letters to the Queen and former Prime Minister Theresa May, Parnham wrote The clowns R coming 4 you, while the powder later proving to be harmless sent to David Cameron sparked a full-scale terror alert at Parliament, the court heard today.

Parnham, who admitted the idea of murdering ethnic minorities turns me on, followed the 2017 terror attack at Finsbury Park mosque with a series of threatening letters, echoing Enoch Powells infamous speech in one when he wrote: There will be rivers of blood flowing down the street, I will make sure of this.

He targeted Asian members of Parliament and mosques with the poison pen campaign, and also wrote to US white supremacist killer Dylann Roof to tell him he had opened my eyes with his murder spree, saying of Muslims: I hate these animals with a passion.

Prosecutor Diana Wilson said Parnham, who has no previous convictions, was responsible for a sustained campaign of hate that had caused fear in Muslim communities around the country.

In some of his letters, Parnham offered to donate 100 to charity if a Muslim was attacked, and in the Punish a Muslim Day campaign he urged the assassination of leading Islamic figures.

Parnham admitted dispatched the series of letters from his home in Lincoln between 2016 and 2018, after being traced through his DNA, and is now due to be sentenced after undergoing a series of psychiatric assessments.

Among the titles of the hate letters were The Great Cleanse and Bang! Youre dead, while the Jigsaw series included a picture of a person being decapitated with a sword with a Swastika insignia, including the phrase blood will be spilled.

He has pleaded guilty to soliciting to murder, five charges of hoaxes involving sending noxious substances, seven charges of sending letters with intent to cause distress or anxiety, one count of making a bomb hoax, and one count of encouraging offences believing one of more would be committed.

Judge Anthony Leonard QC is expected to sentence Parnham tomorrow.

Frankly, that's the only thing that redeems the absolute steamer that was the last few minutes of Season One. Asami gave him a job and became his girlfriend, Korra uncovered her father's Equalist ties and led to her losing her privileged home life, she uses what resources and wit she can to rig up devices for the crew... only for Mako, the guy who got her into this whole mess, to drop her like a hot potato and hook up with the Avatar after a season of growing neglect for Asami.

It was a scummy twist that was excused by the fans in the trashiest fucking way ("they didn't know if they would get a second season! they had to cram it in there!") instead of acknowledging that they didn't have to shoehorn a relationship upgrade into the last 5 minutes of the season. It did Asami dirty, and it was just so fucking cheap.

I remember Mako being like "wow Korra hot, oh but shipping episode say we better as friends, but Korra hot even though me have girlfriend, oh girlfriend's life is ruined, but brah like seriously Korra hot". Growing from distrust to friends to lovers, with a mutual ex who didn't treat them right, feels like more of a romantic arc than Fuckboy Mako ever had.

I learned that Alec didn't have a whole lot to do with the story - he did compose, and his coding is a big reason why the game works at all. He was also a co-designer. But the NITW IP belongs to someone else at Infinite Fall, and he and his wife wrote the story.

But they did have to cancel the epilogue game due to this.

But even saying that, I don't think Zoe Quinn posted with malicious intent and I think she had every right to speak out about a negative relationship she was in. It's a bad precedent to tell women not to discuss instances of abuse, to chase them down and say that they're directly responsible for their abuser's death. I don't think it's reasonable to assume that she was aware of his current mental situation before she said what she said. Some people are phrasing it as murder, like she smelt blood in the water and decided to capitalise on something. I think it's poor timing. And I'm not a fan of people going out of their way to reignite this witch hunt because bad gamer woman make man die.

I'm keeping the allegations in mind, but ultimately I'm mourning the loss of something special. Night in the Woods, regardless of the talent behind it, is a phenomenal game - and I'd recommend anyone discussing Alec Holowka's death to buy a copy and pay it for yourself. A part of that world died with Alec.

Don't necessarily forgive or forget the transgressions attached to his name, but if anything he made can help you do something more constructive with your life, then that's at least something.

The main topic descended into shit pretty quickly, and to be honest I also went a bit feral. There was no room to talk about this as a wider topic, just "Zoe Quinn is implicit in his suicide!" versus "Zoe Quinn had every right to speak about her experiences!", with the latter always getting twisted back towards the former. At least that's how I saw it - I was hungover and sick yesterday, and I could barely stomach the horseshit that was going on.

So I wanted to make my own comment on this situation, free of that sort of thing.

First of all - I played Night in the Woods this past June and July. I really enjoyed it, and I would call it one-of-a-kind for its atmosphere, its well-polished and varied gameplay, and for the autumny mood it portrays. I liked Life is Strange for its mood, but I think Night in the Woods is a better game overall.

A large part of this project was Alec Holowka. I heard that the development project he was a part of was planning to create more Night in the Woods content, and I was hype as fuck. I looked up his Twitter in late July, a month before he died. So the initial news was a huge shock. I had only just gotten on board the Night in the Woods train - and one of the people behind it is dead a month later.

I didn't know about any of the drama until an hour or two after I learned about his death. And I knew it was going to get shitty as soon as I read that Zoe Quinn was involved.

So, what do I think about Zoe Quinn?

I think she had every right to speak about what happened. You've got all of these people yelling about her lying, about her intentionally driving him to suicide because she's just an evil bitch like that, and I don't think she intended for anything this bad to happen. I think she wanted to discuss a fucked up relationship she had with a person, without intending for something awful like this to happen. But this entire situation feels like it's dedicated to implicating a known controversial figure in an awful tragedy as an excuse to yell about her again. If she'd just kept her mouth shut, Alec Holowka would surely still be alive - so say the critics.

I don't think Zoe Quinn intended for any of this to end in suicide, and I don't think she was wrong to talk about an abusive situation she was caught in. And I hate having to say this, because ultimately I want to talk about Alec Holowka. His death instantly became a platform for people to go after Zoe Quinn again, and while she's involved in this, I feel like there are people rushing to stumble over the body of a dead man to have another go at a name they've grown to hate over the years.

I feel like Alec had a lot of input into how Night in the Woods was created and presented. The music, some scenarios present in the game, the characters and mood - I'm not going to say that he was some director or overseer of the game who touched every aspect of the thing, but I can't help but think that a big part of Night in the Woods' charm comes from Alex. The people at Infinite Fall made something super special and at the core of it was Alec and his sister.

And these abuse allegations taint that legacy. It's an absolute fucking shame, because I love Night in the Woods. I love Mae, Bea and Selmers. I love Angus. I love the music, and the minigames. I love the story, even if it has a bit of a weak final act. Knowing that the person who made this story, who contributed heavily to a game with a heavy subplot of abuse, had shades of abusive entitlement - it's a real fucking bummer. But I'm extremely bummed out over his death. That he saw no way to make amends in this scenario, that suicide was his go-to option here - it's sad and I hate it.

And? We've had cases of porn stars turning out to be rapists, porn companies mistreating their talent on and off camera, and anyone who speaks out against poor treatment gets harassed and blacklisted by the people complicit in this abuse.
