Exactly why I would never stream a game unless I had already beaten it or if it didnt engage me in such a way that I felt compelled to beat it with no help.

I dunno, I think it can be fun sharing that first experience and some people just like seeing other peoples first approach to a game. any streamer who gets really bothered by it though should probably put "no hints/tips please" or something in their title though

there are a few NES games I think are actually good (zelda games, ninja gaiden games, ...)

there are a decent amount more I think are "good", as in they're fun as long as you accept that they're a product of their era and all the limitations they have and don't actually expect them to be amazing but you would have a hard time really calling them good compared to stuff nowadays (smb1-2, tetris, kirby's adventure, megaman games, ...)

but unfortunately the majority of NES games are just bad. I dunno if I'd call them trash since that implies no value at all and is a bit harsher than I'd be in a lot of cases (although some really are trash) but yeah

A machine can ore build most shit but it's never gonna hit a point where a machine can do the majority of on site construction.

I suspect you'd have more luck like, throwing out a lot of the "standard" construction methods and just 3D printing the entire thing from the ground up

there's definitely a large smash community that's not super into competitive gaming

they're just a little harder to notice since:
1) they don't go out to events in the same way the competitive community does
2) you don't get streams of them playing tournaments or whatever
3) no one talks about them sicne they're basically no-name people who like playing smash

it's interesting seeing different approaches people take to the same things you've done in the past, where they struggle / don't compared to you, what they like/dislike

if they're a streamer who actually looks at their chat and talks while playing, it's similar in idea to going onto a forum after you finish a game and discussing it with people. Sure, the discussion is probably shifted more like 80/20 instead of 50/50 in terms of how much each person says, but stilll

I tried playing some 2d sonic growing up many years ago and didn't like it. I recently decided to give it another shot and played a bit of... sonic 3? (pretty sure it was this, just looked up a youtube vid and it seems familiar) and I still didn't like it.

it controls poorly, level design makes no sense, ring system as health is really not great, and there's a copious amount of really boring & long ring collection minigames

I think the only really good thing I can say about it is that it is very visually impressive for when it released. like I was kinda doubting the dates on the wiki a bit lol

the whole thing is just a lazy way to make money off peoples' desire for a quick thrill and lack of understanding of simple probability to the point where it often negatively affects the quality of the game in other areas because what's the point of making a quality game when you can just stick a game-shaped facade on top of a casino

it's super predatory and the games do all kinds of things to hide just how much you're getting ripped off (being vague about win rates, offering small amounts of free money, making you buy a currency that you then spend on game stuff instead of spending directly so it's harder to see directly how much it costs) but it also pulls in so much cash there's basically no reason not to do it

if there's another gaming crash any time soon it's definitely going to be lootbox/gacha related

it drops straight down out of the fruit generator, which means if it drops below the vats you're either:

1) kicking it in the wrong direction
or
2) not clearing old fruits out from underneath and its bouncing off of them

either are easily fixable as long as you realize what's happening

If they'd really decided it was alright, then every other portrayal of slavery in the story wouldn't be so negative. I'd almost say it feels like the other way around; they've decided it's not alright, but can't think of how to write a story without it so they just make all the other guys super duper negative so you don't realize how the protag still, well, has slaves

I think part of the whole slavery thing to me is how it's so often presented as

MC finds slave store or whatever and there's cute girls as slaves -> MC rescues/buys them to get them away from the evil slave owner -> now they're free!! except they're still slaves and still kinda act like it

it's like they can't decide whether they want to say the slavery is bad (orignal slave owner is often creepy / evil, MC removing the slave(s) from their possesion is considered heroic) or that it's actually good (main protagonist of the story and often essentially the force for "good", or as good as the setting gets, has more or less a slave harem). And the story doesn't say they're sex slaves but let's face it, they totally are lol

what is it about isekai stories and characters being slaves of other characters?? it's sorta offputting honestly

I'm a little curious about the island anime, mainly because I know some people who've read the VN and say it has some really cool twists / plot ideas, but I also find the writer's style a bit too slow-paced and boring. So maybe the usual "VN adaptation gets compressed and loses a bunch of scenes" will be working in my favour this time <_<

there's also asobi asobase which could be good maybe? I know literally nothing about it beyond the description on anichart, but it says it's comedy and the description makes it sound like it'll be tiny short episodes, and I could always do with more short episode comedy shows

I figured the anime was kinda meant to be for people who didn't play the game. Considering the previous persona animes, it's entirely possible someone is a fan of the series without ever having touched the games (though admittedly not too likely). The p5 anime seemed maybe in a bit of a rush to get through things, but it is a long game and they also might be trying to make up for the p4 anime getting a lot of hate for being too slow

I figured that might happen lol

I first watched card captor sakura quite a while back (well, 7-8 years ago? which isn't that long compared to when it aired I guess) and liked it. When I saw there was a sequel series coming out, the show that came up in my mind was this magic battle show against cards trying to catch them all and using cool powers and etc. I guess that's kinda how I saw it back then.

But when I stopped and thought more closely about it... it's really just a romance show, with a few big main pairings and then a billion side character pairings. And occasionally you get a little bit of magic battling. So I suspect there were at least some people coming in expecting the battles but getting the SoL romance and being kinda disappointed

I think it's a little bit too large for what it actually is as a game, but it definitely has enjoyable parts to it. I'd say my biggest complaint with it is that the characters don't really feel significantly different from each other the majority of the time, and are basically just an excuse to have a lot of colours of collectibles.

The final boss fight is pretty good though I gotta say.
