then again, I also mix up left and right all the time and have to stop and do that hand thing (left hand makes an L for Left) to ever be 100% sure of myself

I took a look through it but I'm not sure what's good.

well I'll never miss the opportunity to recommend dungeon travelers 2 (vita dungeon crawler). it's got a fun class system, isn't just some cakewalk easy rpg and also just has a ton of content in general (I wouldn't be surprised if the final postgame dungeon is longer than some games)

utawarerumono games are probably pretty good too but they're game2 and game3 of the trilogy which is a bit awkward. There's a fair amount of time between games 1 and 2 though iirc which might mean it's not that big a deal. Or you can just play the fan translation patch of the ancient PC version of 1

battles being kinda meh isn't a big deal to me since it's not really about the battles themselves in my mind. I just like seeing how authors reinterpret whatever the original basis is into a set of powers that make sense in the setting and are usually totally different while also still being recognizable as the originals. the fights could all be onesided stomps for all I care

well really, marchen madchen fit my #1 requirement for battle series which is having powers based on stuff. and I don't just mean saying someone who shoots fireballs has powers based on fire or something dumb like that. beeing based on stories is cool, being based on historic figures is cool, being based on mythological weapons is cool, etc etc. Basically, if the character announces their name / their weapon name and you pause the show, go look it up on wikipedia, and the info you find there is actually relevant to what their abilities and combat style are, that's good.

It also means you can have fun trying to guess what certain characters are based on, or try to predict possible parts of their powers they may be keeping hidden

They had such a neat concept, but they don't explain ANYTHING

it felt to me like the kind of setup that's supposed to be starting with the "action" and introducing things later and/or gradually but instead with all the issues around both the anime (the mess this season was) and the LNs (the author being dead now) it will probably just forever be unclear

I can tolerate a fair bit of info left unsaid in this sort of thing since that's essentiallly how fairy tales work so it's a good tie between the content and the structure. this thing sorta pushes a little too far on that though at times. I did like the first arc though and I think the 2nd could have been alright if they actually concluded it instead of stopping just before the finals of the tournament arc lol

That's probably a confrontation theme rather than a battle theme, since when I stopped and thoguht about it I realized basically all the battles have vocal songs on top of them (considering how the powers work this isn't surprising I dunno why I realized it only now <_<)

I did a bunch of boss quick-kills in distorted travesty 3, there's an ingame bronze-silver-gold medal system for how fast you can beat them in the boss rematch gallery but I decided to see just how close gold was to optimal (turns out, generally not that close)

I feel 0 desire to watch it after the trainwreck of a 10th episode.

you think the 10th episode was the bad one? honestly I felt like things started coming back together sort of for that episode. somehow. like, there were some iffy spots in it sure (just like in every other episode) but it wasn't anywhere near the level of eps 8 or 9 which were just super ugly and messy almost the whole way through.

I'd watch ep 11 and 12, tbh. the setting has some ideas which are pretty cool and I personally have a big soft spot for stories / the idea of what a "story" is being used as allegories / stand-ins / sources of magic which si basically what this entire series is based on

@kirbymuncher i was listening to the OST for symphogear. You know, i never like, listened to just the soundtrack without the anime noises and stuff, this is pretty good stuff, the battle themes are already hype in the anime but as standalone songs they're pretty freaking cool.

I dunno if I'd ever play it single player but it's super fun multiplayer just because of everyone constantly fighting over what design to use and where to put things and who accidentally messed up the belts and etc etc

I definitely feel like there are certain sorts of people whoc will just never like it, though, since it's essentially just and endless "get more/bigger/faster stuff" game without a real solid goal

satellite reign is a very cool game although I think its balance leaves a little to be desired. would recommend playing it multiplayer (it goes up to 4) since it's more fun with each person being a squad member and cooperating than you just controlling them all yourself

manga can survive fairly well I think, thanks to like, those weekly manga magazines that are essentially a ton of series in one. Helps with advertising (?? getting people to see your stuff because it's near other stuff they're reading) and lets them sorta keep costs down. I'd be a lot more worried about western comic industry, which basically just sells individual volumes at prices way higher than anyone would pay except collectors. Or you can just wait and buy the batch versions.

You can kinda see it in the content too, I'm not going to say manga is some wonderful land full of originality and it does have its own issues but at least it's not cannibalizing itself in the same way comics are. pretty sure the only reason those can survive at all is the movies <_<

I've seen a surprising number of LNs offered as digital copies for ereaders or whatever, does manga not also do this? or maybe it does and I just don't realize

I know dick about law and I sure as shit know I will never try and represent myself. But the amount of people who think they have any right to an opinion about some contentious topic in medicine without the prerequisite years of pouring over the basics first drives me nuts. a lot of the endings are just small variations on things. After a certain point in the game you can go fight the final boss "early" and most of the endings are just fighting the boss and finishing the game at different points in the main storyline
