If I had to guess, it's a sort of pushback against how people who do like the shows often use extreme hyperbole in the other direction ("saving anime", "best show of the year", "best girl", etc)

considering what I've heard from the devs (mostly that the guidelines are unclear and/or they actually thought they were following the guidelines) it sounds like steam's mostly being disorganized internally again. which is nothing new at all

that would also explain why they're mentioning certain games and not others since I'd guess it's based on like user reports or something.

in the end I'm amazed valve is still as generally respected as it is considering they haven't really done anything in a long time. You can probably still buy most of these things they're removing elsewhere anyway

I actually love how floaty you are and the way momentum carries into the air, because it makes big running jumps extremely satisfying. walljumping is indeed a bit awkward though especialy if you're playing on something with a control stick because if you hit up/down it breaks the walljump

the game is pretty fun though some of the assists are absolutely insane and I get the feeling that once people really learn the game it will be like 5% actual fighting game and 95% dumb stuff

I'd probably play overrun instead of triumph of the hordes, because mixing poison counters and normal damage is generally not the best way to go about things. which you probably noticed with cystbearer. if you're looking for something to replace cystbearer with, maybe masked admirers? maybe it's not super great either but if you're having problems sustaining into later game in terms of cards, it might help

Sierra Adventure games were terrible about that.

Police Quest, for example. Very early on in the game you're in your cop car. While there, you need to open up your own glove box to get some paperwork. Because some time later, you'll be called into court to testify on something. Those papers are you alibi, else it's game over.

I thought this was like, part of the appeal / point of that type of game. Like, they're difficult because you never know what you could be missing or what you might need later. And you're intended to do multiple playthroughs trying to sort things out

other than those sorts of games I don't think I've played anything where you can get unfixably stuck short of being extremely dumb or actively trying to get stuck

It's common verbal filler. Pretty much everyone uses some sort of filler in conversation because we think while speaking and sometimes you need to put some mindless words in there as a thought buffer

Better? I dunno. You're monogreen so you've probably got a forest to untap, which means they're essentially the same (tap to generate one extra mana) except with llanowar elves being better in some niche cases like them destroying the land in response to the ability. like you mentioned it's also good with stuff like wild growth or overgrowth which make your lands tap for more than 1 mana (arbor elf + overgrowth is a fairly simple way to generate a ton of mana, you can have 8 mana available turn 3)

Mostly though I just mentioned it because having your ramp creature cost 1 is a lot better than having it cost 2

you ever have that one friend who's like, really intent on giving you unecessarily detailed 10 minute play by plays of the last cool moment they had in a video game and are all like "then this guy did this... and I was thinking this... and then this happened, but I dodged it, and then... and then..." and you keep trying to direct the conversation away but they just totally can't take the hint and they go through this agonizingly long description of every single input they pressed during the entire match and how funny and amazing and tense and cool it all was and then the story is done and you're both just sitting there disappointed and only then do they realize it's only really interesting to the people who were there and saw it happen live?

that's basically what the first episode felt like to me. less of a story and more of a gaming diary

in the end, modern has a lot of cards available and you could definitely really boost the power of a ramp deck like this by... totally reworking the deck into something else (like tooth and nail combo)

but I get the impression you're more of a casual player who just wants to build a deck with the cards they end up with so I tried to give more general idea of things to look for

well, two main parts to a ramp deck: things to ramp with, and things to ramp into.

ramp with: you actually don't really have that much ramp and if you want to play a ramp deck you gotta have more than that . merfolk branchwalker is grouped in with your ramp stuff but it doesn't actually play lands any faster, just puts them in your hand. and your other ramp creatures are slow since they cost 2 and only tap for 1, and the savant is extra pointless since you're a mono colour deck anyways. some simple ramp creatures that will probably be more effective for you:

llanowar elves
elvish mystic
arbor elf
priest of titania

ramp into: when you're putting so much effort into playing a single card, you want it to be really good and not just sit around and do nothing or die on the spot. There's some useful traits for ramp targets to help with this to give you an idea of stuff to look for:

- Be multiple creatures (wolfbriar elemental, crush of worms)
- Be resistant to removal (woodfall primus, gaea's revenge)
- Have good ETB/cast effects (any of the big eldrazi legends)

not saying you need any of those cards exactly and really they probably aren't the best options anyway since I'm both out of date with MTG and bad, but that sort of thing is definitely more appealing to ramp into than something like arborback stomper lol

Also as a general rule you want more x4 and less x1. Figure out the good cards, the ones that are really important to your deck, the ones that make it work, and get more of them. Helps keep things consistent

honestly, they did a pretty good job designing the stages around the limitations of their camera. if you play basically any mario64 romhack the camera is 100x worse because it's not sometihng they have in mind at all while making stages

I really liked the class system in golden sun but the game had this issue where it's mostly brain-turned-off easy, and then has a few super hard bosses. There's like no inbetween at all and the difficulty balancing makes it not really worth experimenting with any of the systems in any way
