i know how much it hurts to see short-term value of an investment fall

you feel like, 'man if i had timed this better it'd be so much more long run'

but i have learned trying to time it better results in missing the trade entirely and you're worse off

worst case this is 2008 again, and in 5 years your investment will be positive--and throughout the 5 years of declines youll get to invest a lot of money in the downturn

i plan on investing 50k per year every year so any down years are going to help

science and culture yields work a bit differently in 6, in that getting 500 science per turn by the information era in 6 takes a stupid amount of effort compared to having over 1000 science in 5.

one thing i loved about v was that a player who built his civ around chasing a victory type did not wind up in a "press end era 20 times to win" situation; he could set up his engine to explode and within a turn or two have won the game
