Why should they intentionally obscure the real reason for dropping the requirement? Are you actually advocating they just make s*** up?

Because it causes fewer headaches and less uproar from people who don't have any idea what they're talking about (see this topic for an example). Less backlash is always a good thing. And let's not be stupid and pretend they don't "just make shit up" all the time already.

As several people have pointed out in this topic, my explanation is a perfectly legitimate excuse for not requiring the 25m distance anymore. It makes sense, there wouldn't be any backlash, and the Army gets what it wants without having to deal with the implied weakness. There's literally no reason not to chalk it up to the fact that it's just not a useful skill in most modern combat scenarios.

I haven't had any recent incidents, and I've never had anything major happen (*knock on wood*) so my newest visible is probably like 15 years old from high school. It's the one from when I punched a sword in half. And yes, you read that right. I punched a sword in half.

It's a small dark spot on my right hand between my ring and pinkie knuckles. I was a fencer in high school, and in the round-of-16 at the state tournament my senior year I was up against the #3 ranked youth fencer in the country in an Epee match. Near the end of the match he was unsurprisingly kicking my ass, but I'd managed to get 2 points against him so I was already stoked about my performance. He was left-handed and I'm right-handed, so our blades were on the same side. At one point we both lunged simultaneously. The tip of my blade got his arm, but his blade hit my guard and slide down, catching my hand between the knuckles. As we both continued lunging forward my blade just slid up his arm, but the tip of his was stuck between my knuckles and his blade bent in half and snapped clean in two. We froze and just kinda stared at each other for a second before we both just burst out laughing. I started to apologize for breaking his blade but he stopped me and said "Dude forget about it, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen! You literally just punched my sword in half! That was EPIC!!"

His spare epee was being used by a teammate whose blade was malfunctioning (they've got electronic sensors) at the time, so I lent him my spare to finish the match and he ended up using it the rest of the tournament. I finished in 15th, and he finished in 2nd place after losing the finals to my teammate who just happened to be the #1 ranked youth fencer in the country at the time (that was an incredible match to watch, btw). XD

did you get 15 implants? How much did that cost?

Like I said, I got 3 titanium screws in the top front, and 2 more for my first molars on either side of the bottom. Total of 5 screws, 7 implants. They didn't replace my back molars on top or bottom, nor did they replace my wisdom teeth. So I have 8 fewer teeth now, none of which are visible or make any real difference in terms of chewing.

The total was something like $15k, I believe. My parents insisted on paying for it. I told them I'd pay them back but they wouldn't hear of it. They said they felt bad that they hadn't done a better job when I was a kid finding a dentist who could help me with them, or trying a different method for getting braces or something. I never blamed them for it, it wasn't their fault and I knew that even when I was 12. But I still appreciate the gesture.

He's not saying introverts prefer one and extroverts prefer the other. Did you even read? He's just using introvert/extrovert as an example of two generally opposing mindsets. If you like calmer, gentle reassurance you probably prefer cats. If you like more active, energetic companionship you're probably a dog person.

...no, genuinely, I really do wonder why. I'd say a solid 70% of the couples I know who have both kids and dogs are fairly shitty parents. Like they'll undermine each others' authority when dealing with their kids (kid gets denied by mom and immediately goes over to dad who witnessed the exchange and dad says yes), or if the kid does something they're not supposed to the instant response is screaming at them instead of talking to them, stuff like that. Whereas for the ones who have kids and cats, it's more like 30%. I have not been able to find any kind of correlation and it's always bugged me. It just seems so very odd.

15 teeth...what the fuck.

Yeah...my teeth were massively crooked. Like it would take a solid 20 minutes of flossing and I still wouldn't have gotten everything out of all the little cracks and crevices between my teeth. It made no difference how much I would brush, floss, or rinse. Every single time I went to the dentist I'd have another cavity.

I tried to get braces as a kid, but I had a really bad gag reflex and every time they'd press the putty onto my teeth it would make me gag and I would throw up and ruin the mold. And there's only so many times you can strap a 12 year old into a chair and make him puke on himself before he tells you to fuck off (for me it was 3 times, fwiw). After that I just stopped caring. And eventually just stopped brushing altogether. By the time I was 24 half my teeth were rotted, some of them cracked, and I think 7 of them had exposed nerves. I physically couldn't eat things as basic as an apple because if I had tried to bite into it I'd probably have taken a tooth out. I pretty much never smiled or laughed for fear of people seeing how nasty my teeth were.

Then my brother got engaged and asked me to be his best man. There was no way I was going to ruin my brother's wedding pictures by not even being able to smile, and there was also no way I was going to let him down and not be there for him on the biggest day of his life. So I decided to finally do something about it and got dental implants. Best decision of my life, tbh.

They pulled the front 5 along with the back molar and wisdom tooth on either side on my upper jaw, as well as both molars and the wisdom tooth from both sides on my lower jaw. Replaced the front 5 with an implant bridge (3 titanium screws) and the first molar on either side of the bottom with 1 screw each. They said if I felt there wasn't enough surface on just the first set of molars for chewing properly they could go back in and add screws & implants for the second molars later if needed, but I haven't had any issues at all so we didn't do the second molars.

They look fantastic. I never worry about being self-conscious because of my smile anymore. They feel like real teeth, too. I know they're there and even I have a hard time telling the difference. People are always shocked when they find out they're fake. And they're pretty hardcore badass to boot. The ceramic they use for the implants is so strong you can literally take a hammer and drive it into a block of wood like a nail without chipping them. And the titanium screws are cemented into the jawbone so firmly that if someone were to grab them with a pair of pliers and rip them out, they would actually take a chunk of my jawbone out before the screws came loose. XD

It was known for years. People knew he was bullshit from pretty much day 1, considering many of the top scorers on many of the games he stole the records from knew exactly how impossible his claims were. The problem was that Twin Galaxies has been just about the most corrupt shithole imaginable for video game world record keeping. They have actively lied about his records in the past, with one of their officials having claimed to have personally witnessed his physically impossible Dragster record twice. He used to work for Twin Galaxies and was caught literally entering his own scores into the database without authorization or notifying any of the other officials at least once (but let's be honest here, he probably did it constantly). I could go on, but in the end of the second video Apollo Legend claims he's gotten information that the corruption there goes even deeper than most people realize and he may continue to expose them. I hope he does.

Todd Rogers, aka "The King of Video Games", is a fraud and a cheat. He lied about hundreds of world records while working at Twin Galaxies, claiming to have earned a metric fuck-ton of scores that are physically impossible. And by physically impossible, I don't mean as in you can't imagine someone playing a game for enough hours to reach that score. I mean like literally physically impossible. Things like claiming he earned a score that ends in XXXX10 when the game only counts by 50. Or claiming to have earned scores in the tens of millions in a game with a kill-screen that occurs for normal WR players at less than 1 million.

Here's a video describing the bullshit, focusing on the most recent dispute of his supposed world record time in Dragster of 5.51, which was shown to be impossible by a guy called Omnigamer via deconstructing the game's code and creating a spreadsheet to test every possible action on every possible frame of gameplay.

Due to the dispute and evidence from Omnigamer, and that video from Apollo Legend generating attention in recent months, Twin Galaxies finally decided to pull their heads out of their asses and do something. 30+ years late, mind you, but better late than never, right? >_>

Twin Galaxies finally made a statement. They revoked all of scumbag Rogers' world record scores on TG, and banned him from the site. Guinness World Records was contacted with the new information, and they have revoked theirs as well.

It's about damn time.
