Cuz while plenty of individual cases are unique, dogs and cats generally offer different kinds of pet experiences, which match up with two opposing human personality archetypes. It's hard to like both much in the same way it's hard to be both an extrovert and an introvert.

...no, genuinely, I really do wonder why. I'd say a solid 70% of the couples I know who have both kids and dogs are fairly shitty parents. Like they'll undermine each others' authority when dealing with their kids (kid gets denied by mom and immediately goes over to dad who witnessed the exchange and dad says yes), or if the kid does something they're not supposed to the instant response is screaming at them instead of talking to them, stuff like that. Whereas for the ones who have kids and cats, it's more like 30%. I have not been able to find any kind of correlation and it's always bugged me. It just seems so very odd.

and my cat grey would sit on the right side of the bed

both cuddled up to me and me sleeping
but grey got run over earlier this year. i miss her
and tess is crazy old and doesnt have much energy anymore other than to lay around

This is a load of horse shit. There is nothing inherently introverted or extroverted about owning either pet, nor anything about those traits that draws people to one or the other. I hate seeing that pseudoscience passed around as gospel

He's not saying introverts prefer one and extroverts prefer the other. Did you even read? He's just using introvert/extrovert as an example of two generally opposing mindsets. If you like calmer, gentle reassurance you probably prefer cats. If you like more active, energetic companionship you're probably a dog person.

Dogs are higher effort but higher reward, cats are lower effort and lower reward.

Cat vs dog is not only introvert vs extrovert, but also like, are you willing to put more care in to get more out of it.

Someone already pointed it out, but I never said that introverts or extroverts tie directly to cats or dogs. I quote, "MUCH IN THE SAME WAY it's hard to be both an introvert and an extrovert."
Dogs are traditionally very active, needing access to outdoors and require greater maintenance overall while offering a more dynamic companionship. Meanwhile cats are usually enjoyed for their lack of maintenance and subtle personalities, and are better suited for a quiet life inside a home.
Obviously there are plenty of exceptions, but overall there isn't a ton of crossover between people that both enjoy big active projects in the outdoors and quiet, easygoing time spent indoors. Also as an inb4, I did say it was a generalization; there's lazy dogs and loyal cats.

Dunno why you got so ridiculously defensive about it. I guess you're a cat person? Lol.

Im an animal person and like both but I dont know how to train dogs because I didnt grow up with them. And obviously cats just dont require much upkeep.

I think more people run into problems with cats when they try to approach them like dogs and get a severe cold shoulder.
