https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/labour-bans-straight-white-men-at-conference-qqklhfr3w

Labour said that there was no point in straight white men attending because the conferences aim was to elect equalities representatives. The issue comes weeks after the commission said that Labour was guilty of unlawful discrimination for offering Bame members discounted tickets to its East Midlands regional conference.

Their dedication to losing elections over and over again is truly admirable.

so you're literally complaining that a representative specifically designated for a minority position can't be white. i bet you're equally infuriated by minority only scholarships and the like.

I don't know about the UK, but they actually can in the US. You don't have to like it, but there's nothing stopping anybody from saying the n-word. What you can't do in the US though is discriminate against people's skin color and sex in order to hire them, which I guess you can do in the UK.

Statistical variances are not necessarily a result of discrimination. This is a case of people directly discriminating against people based on their skin color and their gender, and they're doing it in the name of being against racism and sexism.

Sounds like they want to fill positions, so there is adequate representation among different groups. Is that not a good way to combat racism and sexism?
