Support for Palestine isnt necessarily antisemitic. Support for Hamas is. One is a national identity that just so happens to have a claim to the same land that Israel does. The other is a terrorist organization whose sole purpose to exist is to murder Jews and wipe out the Jewish state. Nuance matters. Just like support for Israel isnt Islamaphobia, but support for Israeli expansion into the West Bank is.

The problem is that damn chant. It really depends on what your interpretation of what it means. If you are calling two states living side by side freely, its not. If you are calling for one state called Palestine, which at the same time eliminates the national identity of Israelis and Jewish self determination in Israel, well then its a different story. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to improve the Palestinian condition as it pertains to their national sovereignty and basic human rights. Hell, there are a lot of Israelis who want the same thing.

But if your solution to a situation that you believe to be ethnic cleansing is only more ethnic cleansing, well its the hypocrisy of your idea that shows who you really are. Because even if you are right, you cant call it a crime and then do it anyway.

I really do not understand why you guys continue to try and oversimplify this to a black and white issue all the time.

It's unfortunately fallout from Netanyahu and co trying to claim they do represent all Jewish people, and crying "anti-Semitism" when criticized. But like any other Israeli propaganda, it too is very important to call out for the bullshit it is.

Even if one were to hypothetically take the concept of Israel as a holy land that belongs to the Jewish people as literal and factual (and as disclosure here, I only really know the Christian view on that claim), that does not mean the people currently in charge of it are the people who speak for all Jewish people.

Yeah well, if it was an isolated incident, I might agree with you. But its everywhere. Even you, sliding in some anti Israel comment into every god damn post, its just a constant barrage of the Jewish narrative is a false one, were the problem here, and the only way to be free of that is to distance ourselves from Israel as a whole. Not the Israeli government, but the whole damn thing. And then you have the extremists who think we all deserve to die.

If you want to point at bad actors from the "Palestinian rights" camp, best know the same can be applied to the bad actors in the "defend Israel" camp.

Not just hiding. Apparently Hamas fighters wear civilian clothes in battle, which you can see in the videos that they recorded of themselves. Now theres no doubt that children have died and other civilians have died, but it does compromise the legitimacy of the total number of civilian deaths being claimed.

Theres no reason at all to get into that can of worms. Judaism and Islam both agree theologically in the value a single human life. So getting into the shouting match of whether its 1000 people or 10,000 people, every civilian casualty lost is an atrocity. We already know that its impossible to verify all of the information being given to us in the conflict.

Because for all the toxicity here, the one thing that seems to be apparent is a concern for all of the victims of the violence. The rage, the constant shaming and blaming and all of that, Is that the violence needs to end.

So nitpicking details like questioning the legitimacy of the death count gets you nowhere. The death toll is and has been disproportionate the entire time.

The very thing that Israel is being accused of in Gaza (and at this point - using that terminology, its hard to argue for the record.) Im a Zionist and I oppose Israeli war crimes as well.

Heres the problem in a nutshell. Jews around the world arent hearing the calls for a ceasefire in a vacuum. Most rational people would be ok with that, even as our leaders dont, provided the hostage thing gets handled. They are hearing things like death to the Jews or jews are Nazis or zionism is nazism and all that crap. Its the demonization of us that has us all scared out of our minds, because we know what happened the last time we saw it.

so now I have to write 5 pages - 10 pages alone? Not fair dude. The fact that I have to write more compromises the quality of my work compared to someone writing 3 pages with lesser input. Not fair when you compare it using that metric.

If I had to only write 3 pages, I'm sure I could write an AMAZING paper. But spread that out to 10 pages? It's going to drastically reduce the quality of my work. I just don't have enough time.

Its actually harder to right a short essay really. Getting to the point within a word limit is more challenging than rambling on for ten pages.

I have only planned to contribute 3 pages. Having to write more than my fair share frustrates me. I have an anxiety disorder man. It takes me a long time to write and organize my thoughts on paper.

I could see why its frustrating. Sounds like a shitty assignment. But with any group research paper, the worst thing you can do is rely on your group to do their part while you only do yours. No way to verify if their contributions are complete shit or plagiarized or anything like that until you proofread.
