Spider-Verse was like 10% comedy and 90% drama.

I've seen Barbie, D&D, Cocaine Bear and GOTG3 off that list. Cocaine Bear is surprisingly competent, if forgettable. Barbie is great if a little underbaked in terms of world building (the way the plot revolves around a congress vote is really weird to me). D&D is by the books but in a really good and kinda genre-and-medium aware way.

GOTG3 is a decent movie but I actually found much of the comedy to be the worst part. Drax was unbearable. Often a lovable goofball, in this movie he was too often just a huge dick and the movie seemed to think that was really funny. Like when he hits the kid with the ball. Even the movie wants to have a message that his destiny was to be a father, so why da fuck is that scene in. He should know how much force to use. The drama in the movie is great though. But the movie really brushes past the whole planetary furry genocide that happens...

So in terms of their comedic value,

D&D > Barbie > Cocaine Bear > GOTG3

Ten years later and people are still struggling with this. So fixated on the amount of movies without seeing how it works.

I'm not struggling with anything. The 'expansion' was not very good.

My dad had me read the hobbit in fifth grade with the same copy of the book that he read in fifth grade. Later when the movie came out we went to the theater and I was shocked when the movie ended. I had no idea they'd stretched it into THREE films and even I, a 12 year old, recognized how excessive that was.

I could say two things for that level. The first is as spoilerless as I can get, the second is a tad deeper

1) it's encouraging you to observe a fundamental mechanic
2) Do not be attached to the name or visual appearance of nouns. the only meaning of a noun comes from its current rules

IDK personally they add up and their character contributes to the overall mood of RE4. I mean that's the reason they were cut-- because RE4make is intended to be darker and edgier and those sequences would detract from that. It's also why some of them were brought back for separate ways since they decided to make that a less serious spy parody thing.

That is to say the overall issue of RE4make is that it's building a moodier game with the bones of a sillier game, and I think most of the decisions it makes to accomplish that are for the worse. Luis for example, your interactions with him are way less fun because Leon is a dick to him now. Yes, I understand that also makes sense for Leon's characterization, but it certainly brings the mood down.

Then you have Salazar, excuse me, "Ramon". He's so devoid of presence and personality in the remake that it gives the entire castle sequence a strange sense of absence. Yes, I recognize it's because Salazar used to be silly and also they wanted more weight for Saddler, but Saddler is boring and cannot fill the void.

This was good, but it was the exception of changes not the rule. Actually can we even say it's a change except that Luis is also there? More like something they mercifully kept in. The cart amusement ride is in the original :/ And in the remake Luis does try to wisecrack, but Leon constantly shuts him down or even hurts him. It's definitely not the same.

It's fun and quirky. It's not supposed to be super intense and scary. It's fine you like the version with rocket launchers and explosions, but it kinda misses the point of the original.

I guess that's true for the fans at large but the original is better. The remake is No Fun Allowed. Leon and Luis have no banter, it ruined Salazar for no purpose except No Fun Allowed, and several of the memorable setpieces (ski lift, golem chase, laser room) are cut because No Fun Allowed.

So WATER is SHUT which means an OPEN object will annihilate itself and the water block when they share the same tile. That means in this case you need a spare object if you OPEN a water tile to not game over.

One thing that'd be nice is to turn all 3 objects into one object but I can't figure out how to do that. After say "KEY is FLAG" there's no way to say "FLAG is BABA" or "BABA is FLAG" because it'd break the "is YOU" rule ending the game. I also thought of only destroying the middle top water block and then scooting "BABA is YOU" over to that column and driving it down with "AND" to get "BABA is YOU and WIN" which would instantly win. Normally you can't scooch a column like that, but it's possible with this configuration:

The problem is that while it's in alignment, there's no way to have "and OPEN" on the keys. You need to be controlling two objects when you break a water block with one so that you don't game over. But you can't then scooch the "is YOU" into the same column as WIN because you need to either have an extra "is/YOU" or two controllable entities to push both.

Also theory crafted doing anything by accessing the "WATER" rule in the lower right. If you could put an intangible object beneath "is" and clear the left water block, you could then walk to the left and break the rule, trivializing the level. But there's no way to do that as far as I can see with no "MOVE" rule.

Finally there's the idea of breaking the water block to the left of "WIN" and then somehow threading "BABA is YOU and" to the horizontal axis. I've thought about this a lot but the problem is you can only move "is" in cardinal directions, which means there will be a turn it's misaligned with "YOU", so it's impossible.

By the way this is an "extra" version of the same level except one of the middle edge water blocks is missing, which means once you have two controllable objects the solution is trivial.

What an insufferable thing to say LMAO.

I'm a big fan of the four numbered games, I'm 23, and I thought the movie was really disappointing. Its construction and writing were amateurish and it was probably held back by the PG-13 rating which precluded the sorts of disturbing imagery affecting children that some of the games get away with thanks to some of the artstyles used.

You knew neither of the siblings were gonna die which also didn't help. It has too much the vibe of a family movie IMO. Like they were worried about making parents mad with this movie (and like, I get it because there probably were kids who wanted to come see this, IDK, it's a tough situation to work with).

William Afton had too little screen time and his dialogue suuuuucked. Maybe some of those lines were from the books, but it was corny as hell for him to talk about "symmetry" and shit like they just really needed him to say something that a cartoon evil mastermind says to make up for his lack of screen time and drive home his bad-ness.

Also in the lore of the numbered games, Afton didn't have an evil spiritual influence on the ghosts of the kids. He actually personally disassembled the animatronics himself at the end of everything, only to die because the aged spring locks in the rabbit suit fail with moisture, and the room he dumped the destroyed animatronics in had a leak.

It didn't need to go exactly that way because that's shown in a way unique to videogame storytelling that makes it satisfying there but maybe not so interesting as a movie. But the fact in the movie he basically just dies because he was shot LOL and the girl had to make a drawing of him being bad was super corny.

Like, Afton doesn't put on the rabbit suit to become a "Evil Robot Jeff Bridges" to beat up a protagonist. He puts it on to protect himself from the animatronics because they'll kill someone in plainclothes. I guess that's a little similar to the movie but it doesn't give him control of them and in fact he doesn't want that.

Again, not everything needs to be just like the game, but when a change is made, it should be to the benefit of the script, and I thought this script was lame.
