So whats a fun deck that I could use for this event? Anyone have archetype recommendations? The only decks I have that could work are my half-assed Blackwing deck, my half-assed Shinobird deck, or my Danger/Kaiju deck but I think I need to make a new deck.

I considered Danger Kaiju too, but Danger anything won't really work in this event because they put Danger Bigfoot on the event banlist to make it harder for people to cheese OTKs with Draglubion into Numeron Dragon and other rank 8 plays. So that's out the window. Shinobirds can be a fun event deck if you refine it a bit. They're another one of those decks that doesn't use the extra deck but isn't good/common enough to get hit by the event banlist, so you can use them in pretty much any event.

The 750 UR material cost looks steep at first, but almost all of it is staples. The only UR's in the deck that aren't commonly used in many other decks are Drident, Megaclops (who's a Link monster and wouldn't be usable in the event anyways), and D-Shifter (which you have already if you also play Floowandereeze but can replace with a different handtrap like Ghost Ogre if you want)

Finally looked over the event rules and banlist... wow. They annihilated just about every notable non-extra-deck deck out there (True Dracos, Floowandereeze, Timelords, Monarchs, Pacifis, burn, stun, etc.) plus they neutered OTK strategies like Numeron and 8-Axis even if they still use Synchros or Xyz. On top of that, the insane Synchro boards we saw during the Synchro festival before won't be as common, partly because no Hyper Librarian but also because good luck setting them up within the shorter 300 second duel timer that they carried over from the Duelist Cup.

Whatever. Ultra Athletes still slipped through the cracks because only like 6 people on this planet actually care about them (myself included) so that's what I'm going to play. I could probably still make pure Drytrons work even without Benten if I really wanted to have another option.

Neneka and 6-star Kokkoro/Pecorine make the Tower Of Luna soooooooo much easier now. Any stage that isn't a boss stage and doesn't have a magic-resistant golem or a Tamaki just gets absolutely nuked by magic thanks to Neneka, 6-star Pecorine is a nearly unkillable tank who also has decent damage output herself, and 6-star Kokkoro is an attacker, a buffer, a healer, and (if paired with backline attackers, including mages) a tank all in one character. Thanks to these three, I was able to clear all 20 of the new floors on the first day they were available for just the third time since the Tower Of Luna was added.

I'll check out this new Phantom Passage thing they added to the Tower tomorrow.

A bit over 3 hours ago I managed to update the client as well as completing the dailies before reset...but then I found out another maintenance happened lmao.

A lot of people weren't so lucky, myself included. I wasn't able to complete the second set of dailies (the 200 free stamina you get for logging in after a certain time at night) at all yesterday. Oh well, it's only one day, and it wasn't during any major double drops event either. No big deal.

What's going on

* A studio switch has resulted in a change in artstyle and an objective drop in quality (the animation has straight-up melted in a few scenes)

* Some people don't like the new subplot/focus on the "kid" that Maou and Emi have to take care of

* Less focus on workplace comedy, which was the main focus/gimmick of the first season

* It's just not as funny

That seems to be the consensus. How much people think each of these things has negatively affected S2 compared to S1 varies from person to person (for example, I barely care about the artstyle switch but I've seen people online who hate it) but it's basically unanimous that S2 is a step down.

There was also an announcement that you can now generate any banned card (including Pot Of Greed, whatever that card does) to use in unlimited duel rooms now, plus apparently the event banlist for the Synchro+Xyz festival dropped tonight too. I'll look at that tomorrow though, it's late and I'm tired.

I'm dismantling my Adventurer/DPE Sky Striker deck after this, but I'm keeping my going 2nd Sky Striker deck even without Halqifibrax to climb to Accesscode. Raigeki, Pankratops, and Red Reboot all going from 1 to 2 are huge boosts to blind going 2nd decks, plus Rivalry and Gozen being semi-limited are hits to floodgate decks.

Come to think of it IDK what I'm going to do with Sky Strikers now. Accesscode is gonna be a lot harder to climb to for them. Someone mentioned the Charmer Link 2s, but that's gonna be somewhat dependent on what my opponent it playing.

The recently released Dark Charmer link monster is the best bet to climb to Accesscode because Dark is the most common attribute, plus Shark Cannon and Widow Anchor can still yoink link materials from the opponent. I'm also considering including Black Luster Soldier - Soldier of Chaos as another possible finisher since 2 Pankratops will make summoning it with its targeting/destruction protection easier.

Either way, don't totally abandon Sky Strikers. Eventually we're going to get Linkage and H.A.M.P, and those two cards will be huge boosts for the deck.

I'm tempted to rank up to Platinum because even with my janky rogue decks, Gold is starting to lose its edge. But, I also want to stay in Gold for the festival because every time I've done events in Plat or higher I've had a bad time. >____>

As expected, the next event is confirmed to be Synchro+Xyz. Like I said before, it'll be interesting to see what decks will be like without the common Halq/Auroradon/Verte/DPE shenanigans plaguing ranked right now, but we need to see the event banlist before I can judge if the event will actually be fun or not. There's still Numeron OTK and floodgate strategies that don't use the extra deck to worry about, so we'll have to wait and see. I do have a deck that could work for this stipulation on both my accounts (Danger Kaiju on my main account, pure Drytron on my side account) but I'll probably just ignore the stipulaton and play my U.A. sportsball chads again.

It not only counters backrow wipes, it also gets rid of DPE and is spell speed 3 so it gets around other common negates aside from Solemn and Red Reboot.

Lost because my Buster Blader kept being Lava Golem'd and they put a 'cannot be destroyed by battle' Xyz monster due to a Shark monster being its material.

Crooked Cook? Yeah, he's a bitch. The way people make it and use it, it's unaffected by any card effects and it can't be destroyed by battle. So unless you have one of the few ways around its protections (Kaiju it away, use it as material for Underworld Goddess, attack it with piercing damage) then there's nothing you can do but surrender or sit there passing turns until they win with Exodia or Final Countdown.

Yeah, pretty much. It has the same "old FE characters acting as Personas and buffing your characters" gimmick as TMS#FE, but with normal Fire Emblem gameplay. It's basically the SMT+FE game that people were hoping they would get when the crossover was first announced.

I went back to the Siebold battle, and after a couple more failed attempts, I finally got the Stone Edge miss I needed and defeated Barbaracle. Then I nearly had a heart attack when his Starmie outsped Fletchling and used Psychic when she was only at about half health, but Fletchling survived the hit and 1-shotted Starmie to finish the battle and defeat the last of the Elite Four.

After that, all that was left was the Champion, Diantha. I only set up 1 Swords Dance boost on her lead Hawlucha because it outsped Fletchling and I know that it had Swords Dance too, so I couldnt let it boost and then attack. Steel Wing served its purpose and 1-shotted Tyrantrum and Aurorus, then Return managed to 1-shot Goodra. It was a critical hit on Goodra, so I dont know if it would have 1-shotted without the crit or not. Once Gourgeist came out, I set up the remaining Swords Dance boosts and healed Fletchling to full health before 1-shotting it with Fly. Finally, Diantha sent out her ace Gardevoir. Even after its mega evolution, it couldnt withstand Fletchlings Return, and it fell in a single blow. I had done it. No we had done it. Fletchling and I conquered the Pokemon League and became Champions!

After another cutscene, the game threw me into one last battle against AZ, the old tall dude from the Team Flare story. Im pretty sure it doesnt matter if I win or lose, but I beat him anyways. After watching AZ reunite with his Eternal Floette, the last cutscene before the credits fittingly ended with a Fletchling flying across the sky. Theres always a Fletchling in that cutscene, but for this playthrough, that was my Fletchling right there.

So thats the run. Based on the amount of difficult/annoying parts and just how difficult it got sometimes, Im inclined to call this the most difficult solo run that Ive ever completed in a Pokemon game. My previous Kricketune solo in Shining Pearl needed X-items to get past the Elite Four and Champion while Fletchling never needed to resort to that, but I would still say that Fletchling had more difficulty throughout the game as a whole. Plus, Fletchling still had that much trouble despite finishing the game 15 levels above the Champion's ace Pokemon, while both Kricketune and Surskit were only 6 levels above the Champion's ace in their respective games.

I hope you guys enjoyed reading about the run. Im most likely taking a break from Pokemon games until Scarlet/Violet come out, but after I complete my first normal playthrough of that new game, Ill probably do a solo run after that. When I do, Ill make another playthrough topic like this one.

Considering that we've gone 14 entire topics without them being deleted (and even more before that from the time when me and SDBZ used to have separate ones) I don't see why they would start being deleted now.

I began my real attempt at beating the whole Elite Four earlier today, and both Malva and Drasna went down without a hitch as I expected. Drasnas Altaria was a little annoying because it kept putting Fletchling to sleep with Sing and raising its own defense with Cotton Guard. Not difficult, just annoying. Unfortunately, my strategy with Wikstroms Klefki wasnt as reliable as I hoped. Klefki has a chance to use Torment, which makes it so that Fletchling cant use the same move in consecutive turns. After 2 Swords Dances, Steel Wing and then Flame Charge (since I cant use Steel Wing again due to Torment) comes barely short of the KO on Probopass. Eventually, after a couple of attempts, I got a battle where Klefki just attacked and didnt use Torment, so my strategy worked and I was able to take down Probopass. Wikstroms other 2 Pokemon went down to Flame Charge easily, so thats 3 down and 1 to go.

As for Siebold holy shit, I hate this battle. Setting up 3 Swords Dance boosts against his Clawitzer is a massive pain in the ass. Its Water Pulse does just enough damage that it might sometimes be a 2-hit KO, so if it gets a high damage roll, I have to play it safe and heal. Then on top of that, Water Pulse has a 20% chance to confuse Fletchling (but it feels like its happened way more often than 20%) so every time that happens I have to use a Full Restore to heal Fletchlings health and the confusion. Every attempt at this battle has taken over 5 minutes just to set up the Swords Dances and take down Clawitzer, and then theyve all been immediately ended by Barbaracle hitting with Stone Edge.

After nearly an hour of frustration, I shut my game off and decided to take a break. Ill try again either later tonight or tomorrow.

I wouldn't go that far. I loved MW2 my ranking would have that and CoD4 as probably 1-A and 1-B in terms of best CoD's. Granted I ran Scavenger, Cold-Blooded and Ninja and would basically just flank the fuck out of teams.

Nah, I hated MW2. Like I said, I hated it worse than every other CoD game besides Ghosts and MW2019. I even like Vanguard more than it, because at least Vanguard's core gameplay was mildly fun more than like 2% of the time.

For me, BO2 was the pinnacle of the franchise, with the second tier below it being BO1, MW3, and (post-overhaul) WW2.

Most likely. MW2 was a shitty unbalanced dumpster fire of a game plagued by horrible game design choices that only people with blind nostalgia actually like. If that game's MP got remastered today, people would be sick of it after getting noobtubed from across the map a few dozen times.

There was also quickscoping being way too fast and easy, 20-foot Commando knife lunges, Stopping Power with no Juggernaut to balance it out resulting in a super fast TTK (which would be even faster in practice now because of better netcode and hit detection, as seen in the CoD4 remaster), OMA incentivizing camping even without noobtubes involved, and streak kills leading to more streaks so you can basically get a game-ending nuke with only 7 gun (or noobtube) kills.

MW2's MP was awful from top to bottom. The only reason I don't think it's the worst CoD MP of all time is because it can be fun in the like 2% of games where no one is using any of that bullshit, whereas Ghosts and MW2019 are fun 0% of the time because they're so slow, boring, and campy.

Yeah, that was definitely a questionable decision. Without connectivity to the gen 1-2 games, I don't see the point at all.
