Ahhh, had such a great pull

I YOLO'd 30 UR on the Magistus boss, figuring, hell, it'd be nice for my Exosisters in general and for the festival. He's a pseudo Skill Drain on legs, since on summon he equips himself with an extra deck Magistus monster, and your opponent can't activate effects of monsters with that same type. (And depending on your hand it's likely you managed to equip him with two monsters, which should prove handy in an event where only 2 extra deck types are allowed >____>)

So ANYWAY I was testing him in Solo mode, feels good. Realize I fulfilled the solo daily which put me over 1000 gems. Use it on a 10-pull of the Dracoslayer pack. I pull the Ignister synchro I wanted for my pendulum deck and a royal of some random UR I don't need, which I'm going to dust and hold onto in case something else strikes my fancy. Feelsgudmang

Bruh that seems like a fucking haul and a half. They reprinted a lot of good stuff didnt they?

Back from the hospital and the first news I see is Halq being banned. Yet another hit to my Sky Striker deck. Now, we will need to make sure we have Effect Veiler in hand or GY before going to Selene -> Accesscode. I might also add Droll and Lock because its a spellcaster.

Seeing a DuelLogs clip of Red-Eyes Inferno Fire Blast FTK fills me with glee and sadness at the same time.

Sure is nice if my own RE Fusion can stop being Ash'd.

Yeah and it has Lightning Storm in it too. Unfortunately I didn't pull any of those.

Man, there are just so many negates that I can count with my hand the time my Striker Dragon or Romulus resolved...

So whats a fun deck that I could use for this event? Anyone have archetype recommendations? The only decks I have that could work are my half-assed Blackwing deck, my half-assed Shinobird deck, or my Danger/Kaiju deck but I think I need to make a new deck.

Are gustos, Mist Valleys, or raidraptors worth making? My problem is I hate combo decks that just special summon a million times.

I considered Danger Kaiju too, but Danger anything won't really work in this event because they put Danger Bigfoot on the event banlist to make it harder for people to cheese OTKs with Draglubion into Numeron Dragon and other rank 8 plays. So that's out the window. Shinobirds can be a fun event deck if you refine it a bit. They're another one of those decks that doesn't use the extra deck but isn't good/common enough to get hit by the event banlist, so you can use them in pretty much any event.

I did end up rebuilding my Shinobird spirit deck from the ground up. I brought it into ranked and its holding its own! Here is the decklist so far. Tweaking it every duel. Let me know if you have any recommendations! I will look at that link too!

Impcantations and Transonic Bird are great ritual support to use alongside Shinobirds, which is what the deck I linked to recommends. The only spirit monster you really need besides the Shinobirds themselves is Amano-Iwato, because it shuts a lot of other decks down and doesn't return to the hand if it's special summoned by one of the Shinobird ritual monsters. None of that stuff is UR either, so the deck is super cheap to make.

I got a tad addicted to deckbuilding for the event. I've made PendMages, Odd-Eyes, Exosisters, and Swordsoul, and am now looking for a way to cobble together something Zombie related.

Unfortunately Zombie World is banned, Mayakashi kinda needs its Link, and I dont know shit about Shiranui. And I dont have a lot of generic synchros to make a toolbox deck.

I just remembered I still have Suship and Magikey.

Suship only lost Terraforming and Magikey also lost its fusions, but I think they can still work.

Maybe I'm not dead yet.

I just need enough ritual spells from the disco ball secret pack.

Thanks for the help! I added Transonic bird into the deck and removed some too hard to pull of cards. Im actually winning a good amount of duels in ranked. Also threw in some generic XYZs. I wish you could enter the event to test decks, even if you dont get anything until the event starts.

Ran into another Pendulum player! They were using Odd-Eyes Magicians!!!

And I killed them with Harpies u_u

Also ran into a stun player while I was playing Pendulums. Thunder-King Rai-Oh single-handedly shut down my entire deck and they had traps for days. Eventually managed to win when I top-decked the trap that let me destroy him. But by that point they'd banished the majority of my resources so it still came pretty close.

Pulled the trigger and I guess Im a Zoo player. Debating about getting another copy of veiler still. Im almost sure Im going to do it.

Eager for this event to start. There is a ton of gems to be made here people!

Yeah Im really trying to load up.

I was browsing the booster sets trying to figure out what might be coming up next. I think I might pass on the Water pack and save all my gems for the upcoming Pendulum and Zombie support.

Dont feel interested in Spright, Tear, or Byssted so it looks like I'll have a good two or three months at least of just pulling random fun stuff and crafting a backlog of staples

I wonder when are we getting Linkage and H.A.M.P. Sky Striker could use the new cards at this point. Halqi is gone and Accesscode will be harder to bring out now. Linkage can potentially turn Kagari into a boss monster as well as give OTK potential

Huh, you made me curious so I looked it up, didnt know the Sky Striker stuff came out around the same time as the current selection pack's stuff. (Albaz and Battle of Chaos)

Considering the contents of that set were relatively slim I could see them peppering them into the next few packs as extras, but I assume we'll have a better idea when we get another round of leaks. Hoping its not too long, though. >_>

I feel like going over 40 cards but at the same time I still feel I brick just as bad as I do 40.

Had a duel where the first two of our respective turns had both of us Ash'ing each other and having completely no follow-up plays.

Got hit by Jowgen stun deck (who also dropped Boarder later on).

Any card / deck with floodgates that say "you can't plat the game" I feel the same way.

Jowgen? Somebody must be really excited about the Spellbook structure deck on Tuesday. >___> (I'm tempted to get it for the Fortune Lady, seems like a fun Synchro I can use for PendMages)

Though, at least you can out Jowgen with pretty much any normal summon and the most you've lost is your Main Phase 1. Boarder does suck though because very few decks can reliably beat over 2000 without using monster effects. (Though I guess fusion decks don't give a shit lol.)

I played against a dude at regionals that was there just to troll with a jowgen deck. He did this and he has just a billion Wabokus and other protection traps. He had cauldron of the old man which he got himself to 15k lifepoints with. Eventually, I had to TRIBUTE SUMMON a Nibiru to finally beat over Jowgen and then I popped off with Sprights.

Game 2 I sided in all of the backrow hate and drew into it.

Needless to say I've hated Jowgen for 23 years.

Putting two Lava Golems in my Shinobird deck was the best decision ever. I find that most of the time people dont have more then two monsters so Sphere Mode is too hard to pull off. Plus I could use Lava Golem and my Nibiru as ritual fodder. I love watching people special summon a bunch of crap and use all their resources on their first turn, just to tribute it all.

I am building a kind of dedicated going second Shinobird deck for the event. So far its working.

I think in general, people who do well in multiple YCSes actually have immense knowledge of janks, probably because they've considered various janks at one point in their life to tech into their decks.

I don't think I remember the last time somebody like Jesse Kotton lost to a Statue turbo deck or something like that.

Also in MD, it's so much easier to tell if your rogue deck sucks. If you wait for a regional or a YCS to finally realize the truth, it's too late XD

Just one more day until the event. Excited.

Think I'm gonna just dismantle Scythe after the Halq ban. I could probably still make it work with Verte/DPE. But while Scythe + DPE is certainly a great play, I'd rather not reduce the deck down to such a generic endboard lol. (Thought I guess one advantage is that DPE doesn't die to Called until after he does his job lol)

I'm just going Swordsoul but it'll have Zoo and Paleo in there. I'm just a faithful guy I guess. I think I'm using Paleos and Zoos as long as Xyz is allowed

I think Suship would be the most fun. It has no URs to make it right? Never played it but the theme is so fun looking. Magikey seems like they would be a bit gutted without their fusions.

I think Magikey can still work without fusion. They have ritual tuners, albeit not being able to retrieve the spell back from GY (the fusion tuner's effect) kinda hurts.

I got all Suship from pulling Adventure stuff so all I'm missing is UR stuff like Redoer or Zues for the EX deck, and some cards for main deck.

For sure! And Zeus is one of the best URs to craft and just have. Well worth the points. Plus he is really fun to use, the send wording on his effect can get through some of the more pesky protections as well.

Yeah I probably shouldn't dally it any further.

Some cards are just irreplaceable in its stupidity.

Not sure whether to make Painful Decision (or was it Choice that wasn't banned?) to increase consistency to get Suship Shari on hand.

Also another not sure is whether to buy a Re-Contract Universe structure for Utopia and make Utopia double for Double-or-Nothing package.

Tweaked my Pendulum deck, practicing combos in solo and at one point I was able to end with a full board and five cards in hand. I don't even remember the line I just kept playing cards and things kept happening and it's like "oh shoot more resources, sweet". But I'm getting better at seeing these plays in the moment and being able to plan a few moves ahead.

My Dude, been there. Except I dont have a good second deck. The coin flip can just be ruff. I wonder if they ever implement actual best of 3 how that will change things.

Things like that always make me hesitant on removing some going second cards even if they brick my hand more often than I'd like.

Like Pankratops. Chubby dude is just so good. Or some kaiju yeet ended up becoming a lifesaver.

It helps that Rokkets can go second if the stars align. Borrelsword is very nice.

50 and 60 card decks are a thing but I personally try to keep as close to 40 as possible. The deck dies to Maxx C and I want to maximize (heh) my chances of having Ash or Called in my opening hand. Havent tested out what ratios Im going to use yet since Konami doesnt let you use "Unlimited" decks anywhere yet lol.

And yeah this game is rough on the coin flips. >_> (pls Konami limit Tax Dragon. I know double Masquerade isnt incredibly common but when it does happen it's like the ultimate floodgate <___<)

Festival time booooooiiiiiis

Ran into a bunch of loaner decks. They're pretty bad, unfortunately. SwordSoul is still too stronk I'm gonna bench it unless I get stuck in a losing streak and need to boost my self esteem. Odd-Eyes is tons of fun. Threw in a clusterfuck of an extra deck including Metaphys Horus (Lv 6), Star Eater (Level 11), and Fortune Lady Every (Level 7), in addition to the regular 8s and 10s.

Basically I just wanted to be able to syncrho no matter what combination of cards I had on the field. Only one I'm missing is a level 9, but all the ones worth playing don't synergize well. (Dinosaur Tank needs tuners for fuel, Crocoshark eats hand advantage that the deck can't make without links)

Its a damn sweat fest right now. Im shelving this till tomorrow. Swordsoul is a bit strong for being a loaner too. Just makes me hate it more.

I think I will wait until the wind dies down a bit.

I still haven't made the deck lol.
