I feel like this is kinda lost on people. Communism and socialism are just arguments about how society should work, vs. right wing ideas like free market and capitalism. And people got killed in the name of those things all the time yet no one seems to piss and moan as much about them.

Nazism is literally the idea of "this race is better than that race, therefore that race should die."

Uh, they're winning the debate if we're going by whether or not statues are being taken down.

"Seph's kind of right though," if I can quote myself. Statues is an issue where the general consensus is the conservative side, sadly.

We cannot let the nucleus of the debate be about the statues. That's not what it's about anyway. It's an issue, but it's only tangentially related to the white supremacy issue.

I mean, its not a majority. Yes more people support keeping them as opposed to removing them but 1-in-5 isn't sure what we should do with them.

I mean the growth of white nationalism, white supremacy, and nazis online over the past few years have shown what exactly happens when you ignore these "losers" online.

If there was no counter-protesters it would have actually been to the nazis benefit by far.

Because of the violence and noise going on, there was a great magnifying effect on this protest with major news organizations covering it 24/7. This is huge because it's caused a lot more grief for these nazis and white supremacists.

A) Companies are having their websites pulled down and profiles removed from them (something that would have largely not happened if this was a regular boring march with no events).

B) Nazis and white supremacists are being exposed on national TV, leading to them rightfully being terminated from jobs and shown for the racist assholes they are.

C) They're forcing the GOP, a party that largely begrudgingly accepted their votes to win elections (sometimes via racial dog whistles) to now come out and strongly condemn them.

Basically, the counter-protest despite having a person killed was incredibly successful.
