That's why I'm buying it, plus it looks good and exactly what the fanbase has been craving. I get some people are pissed about the amiibo shit, but seriously...I think if you're a big Metroid fan you have to get this. Don't buy the amiibo if you don't want to, find another way to get the content, like borrowing someone else's or whatever.

The guy makes a ton of great videos on game design. I don't always agree with him but most of the time they're really insightful. He's in the process of looking at dungeon design from every Zelda game and how they're approached. He's almost done (Breath of the Wild being the last one, he's thinking of waiting until the DLC dungeon is released) but it seems clear he's more of a fan of the maze-like ones where you have to explore and have choices on where to go, rather than the gauntlet-like ones that are essentially one path but have many puzzles to figure out.

I never leave my wallet or anything really valuable in my car for this reason. It's a shame someone broke into your car, but at least they didn't try to steal the car itself (and it seems they didn't get your wallet either).

I think Christian Whitehead is, but Pagodawest Games and Headcannon were collaborators on the project.

Edit: I was mistaken, Whitehead is still independent. Sega just asks him to do work for them.

General consensus? Where? Every gaming community I was at when it released seemed to think of it as a mediocre title and nothing special.

Every time someone asks for recommendations on platformers, Tropical Freeze is one of the very first ones mentioned. GameSpot only gave it a low review because they thought it was too hard.

It's fine if you didn't like it, but like I said, literally every topic I ever see about "best platformers" has Tropical Freeze in there, usually by several people.

Liked the game but yeah, the wait for the free DLC is ridiculous. They also promised a new Story DLC afterwards, but I really doubt that's gonna come at all. Which means Capcom ripped people off who bought the Season Pass.

I beat the game within the day I got it, I'm just going back through to get the Emeralds and to practice the stages so I'm better at them. (Also I'm recording a full playthrough with all Emeralds.)

I think 2D Sonic should definitely be more of a regular thing, and keep it separate from the 3D games. Also all the people behind Mania should be making them, because Sonic Team themselves don't really know how to make good Sonic games consistently anymore.

The revisited zones are actually drastically different with new gimmicks for the most part, at least with the second acts. It's basically a new game despite reused level assets (which even then have redone spritework).

Yeah, they had Wanted posters for those characters in...I think it was City Escape Classic. Those same posters return as pixel art in Mania but I was totally not expecting to see the actual characters...even if they were just illusions.

I'll be honest, I'm getting tired of the stage revisits. Mania was fantastic and I still enjoyed revisiting the past stages as remixed versions, but...give us something completely new next time. I'd love if the same team came together to create a brand new Sonic game just like Mania with new zones. Just from the four new zones I can tell that they have the creativity to make absolutely fantastic and unique levels.

Sticker Star came about (well, at least the lack of unique characters and a story) thanks to them misinterpreting Club Nintendo survey results.

The real head-scratcher is they made Color Splash--basically identical to Sticker Star--after the outright hate Sticker Star got. They either thought that minor fixes would make the majority love it or just said "screw you guys, this was already in development and we're not redoing the entire game." I'm gonna assume the latter because after the initial reveal they were pretty much quiet on the game until a couple weeks before launch.

Sega fans make a great Streets of Rage game, Sega gets pissed and pulls it.

...Convenient that people forget about that Streets of Rage trilogy remake. This thing is a case-by-case basis. C. Whitehead was lucky that Sega got him under their wing to make Mania and the mobile ports.

I kinda agree? The soundtrack was great (both versions, fite me) but the gameplay felt a little off and the level design wasn't...that great. Specifically in...I think it was Wacky Workbench? It's the one with the electrified floor that makes you bounce really high.

My job was the exact opposite and it actually infuriated me. In the three years I've been there, they've had many employees who would call in at least once or twice a week, and it screwed up schedules. Yet they wouldn't get rid of them until the rest of the employees started complaining.
