I think it's out on the Ipads/ios as well, but havn't been impressed by that format much.

Wonder if you can get it on the Switch, or if they will let you in the future, as that would give you big screen and mobile in one go.

I have it on way too many systems already, but yeah, the DS version is probably your best bet unless they have a switch version (and you have a switch). Should be pretty cheap now as well.

TopicIf you can solve this SECOND MATH Problem for 6 year olds, i'll be IMPRESSED!!!
wolfy42
08/24/17 6:47:58 PM

See this one is messed up. Not because it's hard, it's easy, if you know multiplication/division etc, but because it would be quite difficult for 6 year olds to figure out using shapes (mainly because it's a number on the left side and not objects).

The number on the left is too large to easily break up into objects as well, making this almost impossible for a 6 year old to solve.

If it was a smaller number, this would be fine. If instead of having each circle be worth 9 and each square 27 (think it was), you made each circle be worth 3, and each square worth 9, then a 6 year old might solve it by doing this.

Start the problem off with two circles on the right sight and 6 triangles on the left. The students can place a triangle on each circle until both had 3, and know each circle is worth 3 triangles.

The students could then do the second problem by taking 3 triangles from the left side on each circle, then placing all the traingles that are left on the square, and then making another square and doing the same thing. They could count all the traingles on both square to get the answer.

Without having something they can use as a counter though, it would be very hard for any 1st grade student to solve that problem.

Glenda still has a bit of a German feel to it (sorry don't find most German names sexy, plenty of German girls are sexy mind you, just not the names), so I am gonna go with Dorothy.

Not my favorite name by far, but my favorite of that list.

Yeah, honestly money usually wins out, so unless they can compete with Best Buy/Amazon, they are gonna die no matter what.

If they can do that AND they can remake themselves into the "Fun" place to shop. If they can start getting actually demos of things like PS VR etc, get tournaments going and people coming by just for the experience, not just to buy, they can make it work.

There are places like Playlive nation etc, that sell a decent amount of stuff because they get alot of gamers there for other reasons (in this case to play all the games lol). Gamestop could do something similar. Get a customer in the door, and have the same price as your competition, and bam, you'll sell lots of stuff.

The current setup though has no chance at all of working long term. They NEED customer loyalty in the future to survive the digital revolution, and they don't have it right now.

TopicHow would YOU make gamestop better
wolfy42

Real answer, might be long, sorry.

Gamestop actually wasn't bad initially although it pretty much was always robbing you fro trade ins etc.

Thing is, it used to be a community gaming site, people would gather and play games, tournaments (for guitar hero etc) where held, release parties for big games etc. All that made gamestop more then just a place you could buy a game.

That happens at a few sites now, but it's up to the manager of the store and they are not given incentives (or money) to promote it etc.

Gamestop is going to die (although they are doing quite well finacially right now, having just sold Kongregate for a very large profit) unless they do something to keep people from using Best Buy or Amazon. The prices at both are cheaper then gamestop, significantly with gamersclub at bestbuy or amazon prime, and it's more convienent as well.

The only chance Gamestop has is to grab the feels of it's customers by making them loyal to the store, and willing to pay a bit more because of that loyalty (although honestly if best buy/amazon can offer games at a lower price, then gamestop should be able to come up with a way to sell the games at the same price.).

Even lowering their price to Amazons won't save gamestop by itself, they seriously need to take a page out of many cards and comic stores etc, and become a community gaming center. The place gamers go to meet, a place that holds competitions/tournaments etc, and a place where you can talk with others about upcoming titles, games your currently playing etc. That is it's only possible chance at long term survival in my opinion, as the digital age is here already and non-digital games are going to become more and more rare over time.

Gamestop can last maybe another 10 years like it is, maybe, but to go beyond that, they need to seriously re-invent or retro-invent themselves.

I was married when teaching, I could totally bang hot second grade teachers now.

Not sure I'd get hired if I mentioned that in my interview though.

Principle *So, what is your motivation for teaching? Why would you want to work at this school?*

Me *Well, initially I wanted to make a difference in students lives, especially at the public school level, but after working at a few schools and for a few years, I realize as teachers we don't really have that ability. Class sizes are too large, students are not taught to follow rules, we have no disciplinary methods and special needs students are integrated into the classes with no additional adult supervision or help. So now, I just wanna easy access to the large number of hot teachers pretty much.*

Principle *Dude, that is totally why I took this job as well!!*

Me *Sweet, man, honestly really does work!!*

Don't think it would go that way in reality though.

You can re-invent yourself at just about any age tbh. Seriously though if your in your 20's life is going to change drastically at least a few times for you probably. I'm nothing like what I was in my 20's at this point, although I do have the same hobbies/interests and would have liked myself then/now if I met.

If your life sucks, you don't have motivation etc, just try helping others, you'll make friends, make a difference and often find some meaning or something you desire/want for yourself as well in the process.

Doesn't always work, and sometimes the help you provide doesn't work out, is wasted, not appreciated etc, and that is hard, but it still gets you through the time when you didn't have anything else going on, and lets you move on (and you learn from it).

I'm fairly old and I have seen many people give up on life over the years, don't do it. If you keep moving forward things will change/come along that will make you happy you did. You just gotta give it time.

If we are comparing how long we have been here, I wrote a FAQ with my first account when Diablo I came out (1996 or so). I was gone once long enough for my account to be deleted after that (Think it was more then a year) and had to make this one in 2001.

Think, but not 100% sure, that I posted a bunch when D2 came out, then took a long break and had to make a new account to post for the expansion (I was fairly well known on those boards back then).

Wasn't here right at the start of Gamefaqs but wasn't far behind either.

As the walking dead does a decent job of showing, the real danger in a zombie apocalypse isn't the zombies, it's the other humans.

Bullshit.

If the right person came along and was perfect in every way for you, you would obviously want to be in a relationship with them.

Otherwise it'd be cutting off the nose to spider face.

There are lots of reasons to not want to be in a relationship, for both genders.

What if you just got out of an intense one that ended badly and you don't wanna go down that road for awhile?

What if the last person the loved died suddenly and they are not ready to move on?

What if they are just not ready to share their life with someone right now and want to focus on themselves?

What if they are just not feeling sexual in any way towards anyone currently?

What if they just don't find you attractive, or already are attracted to someone else (or even in a relationship with someone else?).

I mean, there are tons of reasons people wouldn't want to be in a relationship, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if more people don't want to be in one, then do.

Indeed, PotD has been rather stale on religion topics since the days of Kriem / Clench / Chelle / etc.

The sad part is I never know if people actually want to discuss the issues, or just vent out angstheist vibes. It's the same way on the "religion" board.

I'm always down to discuss stuff. My beliefs are just my general working theories and certainly nothing I believe is more likely then a million other ideas, it's just the one that works the best for me, makes sense, and fits my world view.

The largest thing I am afraid of, have always been afraid of since being a very small child, is boredom, being stuck somewhere with nothing to do for long periods of time. Given eternity, eventually everything would become as boring as being stuck in a room with nothing to do, so to me the ultimate goal of any godlike being would be to find a way to entertain itself and prevent the horrible torture of infinite boredom.

It's pointless to use any logic regarding religion. It's easy to find a lot of logical contradictions in basically any religious belief system. The people who believe in God will tell you that they have faith and will disregard any argument, or they will tell you that God is above logic.

GOD isnt above logic. People just choose not to see it. Free will isn't a myth and it logically doesn't make sense that people can't put free will into knowin the future. Like others said, he knows every outcome. If your on a path to hit a wall, GOD will try to guide you to go around it, over it, or hrough it. GOD's will is not set in stone, it is up to you, to keep it.

Think of it like google maps. GOD is guidin you to go one way, but of you choose to go on a different path, the gps changes course and tell you how to reach it. It is up to you if you want to follow his will and go straight ahead to your destination or take the back roads. Or go on a total different path, either eay the gps will still trll you how to get back to that destination no matter how far you go out. Your just making it a longer destination.

The flaw with that logic is that God is supposed to be omnipotent, therefore he MUST know beforehand what you will choose to do in your life. He creates you and he knows that you won't believe in him so he sends you to hell? Then he can't be benevolent. And if he doesn't know that you will choose not to believe in him, then he can't be omnipotent, if he's not omnipotent he's not really a god. This is a well known simple reasoning that shows the contradiction regarding God's benevolence and free will.

This is because everyone looks at time, as if it is linear. Being omnipotent means you know everything, in evey single universe all at the same time. Just because he knows what can or will happen doesn't mean you haven't made the choice to do that. Your not created to go to hell, your created to live your life the way you want too. your choices determine if you go to heaven, hell, or purgatory. Even then, GOD is he final judge and he can decide if he tosses you in heaven or hell. So if he feels you did enough to get into heaven, regardless of the rules, he can do it.

Your decision is not set into stone until you do it. Cause then that is the past. The future is unpredictable, your decisions dictate your own future. GOD just sees every possible path.

Not true, because God set everything in motion, and in doing so, created a chain of events that would lead to you being born, you making the decisions you make throughout your life, and eventually, if there was such a thing, going to hell.

Real hell though is eternal self awareness, and the only escape is the existence we are currently sharing. That being said, we do, in a way, create or our hells?

How.....well lets look at this for a second.

If god split his awareness up among all sentient creatures, the way we act towards each other, the pain and suffering we cause others, we will actually eventually experience. So yeah, if you are cruel, evil etc, you eventually will suffer for it, by your own hand.

Genghis Khan is my favorite historical figure.
Koei's games got me interested in Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Chinese history and the Sengoku era of Japan. Especially Sengoku era Japan and Hideyoshi Toyotomi.
Further, thanks to Urusei Yatsura and other anime, I've learned about a lot of Japanese myths and creatures.
Also in regards to China, the 36 Stratagems, Art of War, The Water Margin (thanks, Suikoden), and other works.
India's got some crazy-awesome myths and weaponry (whip-swords? check (Urumi). chakrams? yup. mounting tusk-blades and even god damned canons onto Elephants? Of-fucking-course!)
There was a great historical fiction drama a few years ago, Great Queen Seondeok about the titular first female ruler of the Silla empire of Korea in the 600's that got me pretty interested in Korean history, too.
Among other things.

And I really like learning about martial arts from all over, including many Asian countries. I miss Human Weapon so much...

Asian countries make up like half of the list of ones I most want to travel to.

Free will is an illusion, and not even a good one.

Everything can be determined in advance if you have enough information and the ability to process it, which any god would have.

Free will is created by ensuring that such information is not available, or is forgotten, so that future events come as a surprise.

A god therefore, who is bored (infinitely) could split his consciousness up among countless sentient beings throughout the universe, ensuring that each has only memories of it's current incarnation, and thus creating a way to deal with the endless tedium which is existence.

While free will is an illusion, it is a useful one. Even with our current technology you can easily see how future actions could be predicted given enough information, so it's not even a theory at this point.

Everything that is going to happen, could be calculated with enough information and logic/math. If I was some kind of sentient godlike being, I would create demi-gods that ensured no creatures ever evolved to the point where they could do that, quite possibly destroying entire species/civilizations as soon as they started getting close.

Perhaps that may be in our near future as well, it would certainly explain why there are no "Aliens" that have traveled and spread out within our galaxy for instance, over the billions of years it was possible. Even without faster then light speed, such exploration/expansion should have occurred at this point many times.

Something has prevented it, perhaps it is powerful demi-gods that are restraining sentient life from ruining it's own purpose.

Most 6 year olds have not learned multiplication or division yet:)

Just started watching Wynnona Earp, and in the second episode, she has a line "I'll settle for Taco's" that made me laugh and won me over to watching the show.

Do you have any lines from shows that won you over?

TopicCan you solve this ASIAN Style MATH Problem for 6 Year Olds? What's the answer?

This actually is an easy way for younger students to solve such problems, without having to use algebra, and it's a way that is used early on for many other math problems (Addition/subtraction etc).

In fact we often have counters they can use, along with boxes on their work sheets etc, so they can start with say 4 counters, then take 2 away, and tell how many counters they have left.

In this case you would have a first box with 7 more counters then the second box, which has 3 more counters then the third. Any child who can count would be able to eventually find the answer there. No higher math is needed, just being able to count counters.

Well, I thought it was way better then Iron first, better then Luke cake, not as good as Jessica Jones, and didn't come close to either season of Daredevil.

Was totally worth watching though.

Wish they would kill off Iron first personally, even though it doesn't make sense in the MCU.

They did tease future JEssica Johnes/Cake romance/drama and also power man/iron fist team ups which was pretty cool.

Matt was still probably the best, although a bit more whiney then normal and Foggy/Karen just....were totally wasted. They have great characters, and I know they have to play off where DD left off, but yeah, wasted.

Off all the sidekicks/friends Foggy and Karen are by far my best, being a big part of why I like the DD's more (Avacados at law hehe). That was the biggest letdown (that and them not sidelining Danny (like tie him up in episode 1 and then have him captured in 8 and never seem him between...would have been better).

Kinda also liked Luke better in this then in his own series. Jessica really did rock it, coming in right behind or equal to Matt.

Villian wise I was very, very dissapointed, nobody holds a candle to Delfino as Kingpin so far in my opinion at least (though Jessica's villian was great too).

I'd resub for a Defenders season 2 though (and certainly for another DD or Jessica).

i wish there was an arbys here

i also wish arbys wasn't astronomically expensive

It's sad you don't have an arby's near you.

It's cheap though with 3 roast beef sandwiches for 5 or 5.77 normally. Thats a better deal then mc donalds/wendys/taco bell etc.

Even their more pricy stuff is usually 2 for 6 or something like that. Also, you get a shnizzit ton of freaking coupons from them. I would have to eat at arby's about every 3 days to use all the coupons they send me each month. Since I only eat there once a week, I have about a years worth of coupons already saved up (and they honor any coupons no matter how old).

Obvious solution here is to sneak up behind him with a metal trash bin and BASH HIM OVER THE HEAD REPEATEDLY, then stuff his mouth full of trash and jump up and down on him a few times.

That'll get the message across.
