This is what happens when people listen to ignorant dipshits with a megaphone instead of using their own brain to think critically.

A category 4 hurricane is nothing to fuck around with. It's not just the constant rain, it's the wind that will rip the roof off of structures and the storm surge. Harvey fucked my county up and we just got the rain.

I almost think criminal charges should be brought against broadcasters who downplay catastrophes like this to an audience that could easily die because of it.

Agreed. I know one who's not leaving too even though I've done everything I can to express the gravity of the situation.

Even the White House statement a few hours ago about "you'll be on your own at some point" got nothing.

I disagree. I've seen plenty of judges rule completely against their personal belief.

What you both said is outright false. We need to get more judges like the ones I'm refering to. Not more judges who want to push their agenda.

You both are way too biased to make an appeal to emotions and expect it to be taken seriously.

Why are you encouraging people to not think critically lol. Nothing is stupider than someone encouraging willful ignorance. I did read the article. I read it before my first post.

Sorry I didn't eat it up like you did.

I've never seen anyone characterize the refusal to read an argument, argue against contextless snippets, and whining when people agree with you as "critical thinking" before. That's a new one.

K. I mean, it's all wrong but if that's how you precived it more power to you.

It's all wrong by way of you refusing to read it? Pretty remarkable that you can argue against something you don't even know about.

What did this post do for you? You regurgitated the same delusional bullshit stemming from some absurd belief that anyone who doesn't agree with you must not have read the content.

Do you expect anything actually out of this? do you think anyone on this board cares about the conversation between you and I? I mean, really, what the fuck are you looking to get here dude because I'm not gonna agree with you no matter how many times you pretend it's because I didn't read the article.

I'm not looking for you to agree with anything here (don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not the articles author). What I'd like is for you to actually read the article and base your refutations around its contents instead of launching into a tirade against what you imagine it says, sorta like how you've already demonstrated in this very topic when you decided to attack the left and the articles take on their view of class instead of race. And by read it actually read the article in its entirety. Don't just CTRL+F: "class" and and think you've hit a ringer. You're just being lazy and it's annoying trying to read along with a discussion when one side refuses to read what's being argued about.

@A_Good_Boy
I think you're taking everything the wrong way. That or I wasn't paying attention and worded things weirdly.

I agree with the premise, I just don't agree with how they got there.

If I didn't make that clear before I hope that gives you more insight.

Schools can't destroy innocent people the same way criminal court can. The worst actual discipline they can give is expulsion.

An expulsion is a pretty devastating consequence. That is absolutely nothing something that should be doled out lightly. This measure is long overdue.

The solution to preventing drunken college sex -- which is essentially what most of these college "rapes" are -- is better education on campuses. Encourage people (i.e. girls) to have a buddy before they go out, make sure someone in their dorm/apt knows where they are, and encourage fellow students to step in if they have any hesitation that someone might be too drunk for their own good. Stop with this myth that women don't enjoy drinking and hooking up, and stop treating women as the victims by default.

That's why the issues so fucking mixed for me.

I'm way too biased because I've partied so much at SDSU and UCSB it's pretty much the norm here still. You get out of college and start going downtown or to PB (Pacific Beach) which is a huge strip of bars and shit gets wild.

Miles Teller just got arrested here like a month ago. Visitors really don't understand when we say PB is its own world... unless they went to UCSB or ASU.

Between bottle rats and are bar scenes the majority of our population that's under 30 who party are hooking up drunk nightly.

I highly doubt anyone has ever said "if a cop is grabbing your dick, just let them continue to do that with no verbal or physical retaliation whatsoever."

But that's just the thing, if you even try to defend yourself in that situation, the cop now has a reason to shoot you and can just lie about the reason why you were resisting to begin with. :/ Most of these cops don't have to wear body cams, so it is going to be your word over theirs and if you're dead you can't talk to begin with.

And then there's the fact cops cover for each other. The whole thing makes me nauseated. I'm just thankful I'm a white woman. I think I'm like statistically the least likely demographic to get abused by a cop.

Well, let me tell you that if a cop tried to grab my dick, he'd have to kill me.

I had to stop watching 11/22/64 just because they made the main character super dumb. Like in the book, he repeatedly mentions that he only uses time travel knowledge to make relatively small bets and will also bet on teams he knows will lose so he throws off suspicion. Literally the first thing the show does is have him go make an absurdly high bet with some shady-ass people who obviously start to hunt him down immediately.

Legit had to go see if I got the date wrong originally because of the 64 >.> lol threw me off that hard.

That's a ridiculously stupid change though. Omissions and expansions don't really bother me that much (in most cases) but when someone acts out of character it bothers the hell out of me.

Yeah I've read almost all of King's stuff, so I'm always down to discuss him lol

And the show wasn't bad per se, it just changed a lot of details and how things worked, which seemed to change how the story will be structured. Don't let me turn you off it, at least until I give it another chance.

Will keep that in mind. Without spoiling too much can you describe the changes? Were they more people and events or like The yellow card guy (I think it was) or something similar/a huge change to how time travel works

I'm pretty clueless but a few things have slipped in as spoilers but even those I'm pretty clueless about.

Yeah, without spoilers, they kept in a lot of the details, but they cut out a huge portion of the book(he doesn't actually go back to save JFK until a decent ways into the book), and they changed a bit of how the time travel works, adding in a final destination kind of twist where if you change the past, time tries to stop you.

Oh man. That last parts quite the change lmao. That good to know going in though, I always prefer to know changes between mediums ahead of the time TBH. Helps prepare me to not care as much I guess.

Keep in mind that King by his own admission was "coked out of his mind" when he wrote IT.

What if I want to play the hardest difficulty and want my character to be white? This is bad game design.

Calm down. Apparently it only changes dialogue options and you get less money at times. The gameplay is supposedly identical.

Besides, this is just a video game character. Is being black that bad? lol
Luckily it doesn't change your race irl if you were worried about that or something >_>

He refused to let Barret in his party whenever it wasn't mandatory in FF7 too, probably.

I never read the book. A child orgy is a thing?

In the book they go into the sewers and they all have sex with the girl in an attempt to basically be adults assuming IT would leave them alone after that. The girl even makes comments about one of the boys not having any hair down there suggesting prepubescence.

Keep in mind that King by his own admission was "coked out of his mind" when he wrote IT.

And thank god he was. Only a cracked out person could have came up with that gem.

This my friends is how freshmen die of alcohol poisoning.

Not to mention exposing yourself to every disease in the city.

Uhh. Do you expose yourself to disease when you drink other alcoholic drinks?

I think you're assuming that the drinks are open and everyone's drinking off the same bottle or something.

What I don't get is how LAW AND ORDER the whole administration is, and suddenly when it comes to sexual assault it's all "hey guys, we gotta make sure we do every possible thing to make sure the people we put away are bad"

Like, it's great to be thorough, but it's odd to pick and choose what gets real investigations and 'innocent before guilty' while other things get fucked over

Very true.

I mean, our justice systems so fucked up as it is there's really no fixing it without a straight overhaul.

You bring up a good question as to why this though.

Aladdin never needed a token white guy and this decision has most certainly made me change my mind about buying a ticket to see this one.

They've insulted me twice. Once for thinking that I'd be more likely to see a movie if I had a designated character to identify with simply on grounds of racial identity. And once again for telling me that I'm meant to identify with the guy who gets cuckolded by the protagonist.

I'm sure he'll get some rebound chick, but I don't give a fuck. I don't need or want a role in this story, but I'm sure as shit not going to watch it and vicariously identify with the guy who loses Jasmine. I don't care for the pandering, racial politics, or soap opera bull shit. This is Aladdin, not some show on the CW.

If they needed to include a white guy (they didn't), they should have made him a Greek merchant who evades arrest when Aladdin rescues him. Later in the film, the merchant repays the favor.

That's it. That's all you need. A harmless character who feels like he might belong in a more fleshed out version of the original Aladdin story rather than one who would get in the way of it.

You get bothered by the silliest things. Remember when you got offended because Spider-man Homecoming had The Tinkerer as a villain?

That dude lost his damn mind.

I don't know anyone who insterts themselves into or identifies with a character just because they're the same race.

I'm just baffled that was a real post.

Did y'all actually read the post?

alleges that the company did not adequately warn law enforcement and public health agencies about hazardous materials at the chemical plant. Those allegations come after Arkema and its lobbying group, the American Chemistry Council, lobbied to kill a federal rule designed to require companies to better coordinate and inform first responders about the toxic compounds at chemical plants. The rule would have taken effect in March.

They should absolutely win

This is what I was thinking when I said they should win.

I'll hear the case of course but unless the case discovers that everything stated was a lie I'm not changing my mind.
