It took me forever to realize that they didn't actually live on that island, but took boats over from a mainland to play there >_> My mind was blown when I found that out lol

To be fair, you only really find out that the small island is separate from the living area in the second game when some scenes actually SHOW it from the main island.

It might only be in the 1.5 Remix, not sure, but there's a scene when Sora sees shit's going down at the island from his window in his room, and you can very clearly see the island is separate there.

Again though, that might have been one of the added things, idk.

Actually when Sora is in his room in the first game he looks out his window and you can see the island you play on in the distance. Also when he gets there he points out that Riku and Kairi's boats are there implying that they rowed over from somewhere else

It's sort of implied. Sora's house obviously isn't on the island and you see that and he also notes that Kairi and Riku's boats are on the play island once he goes over there during the Heartless attack.

I think the weirdest thing was Kairi suddenly asking Sora to ditch Riku and they should both take the raft and go,there was no reason for htat and it was never brought up again just like how they never explain why they want to leave theirr friends and parents behind despite being only 14 at the time or hte fact that the raft had no food on it or even a way to adjust the sell, I just chalk it up to stupid kids being stupid kids with only Rik really being serious about it since MUH DARKNESS shit happened.

One of the things you do in the tutorial is find some oranges or some shit to take with you.

I'm pretty sure that's all it was. Maybe Riku being a little more serious about it because he was the keyblade master or maybe because his dad beat or molested him or something.

Do you think Sora's mom forgot about him since everyone close to him forgot him during the CoM stuff?

Like do you think she just walked into his room one day and was like "the fuck is this shit?"

If I HAD TO guess, I'd wager the reasons they were building a raft as opposed to just using there boats were:

1. They wouldn't fit in one boat with all their supplies and they wanted to stay together.

2. The raft had a sail meaning they didn't need to use their own power to row it like their boats.

It's still pretty dumb though.

I mean once Sora came back after the prologue in 2, they remember him again, so that shouldn't be an issue. More like Nomura doesn't want to have to even consider something like that in a series already this complex.

Watch her be a keyblade wielder in the second story arc as a retcon to explain why she didn't care that her son left for three years lol

Well, he could have kept it more simple like KH1 was, but with the obvious changing of the guard between KH1 and KH2, that was never gonna happen. Fleshing out characters and making them more human and real by having a glimpse into their family life? Nah, let's turn this into a generic shonen.

I will say I hate how the Organization took over as the main baddies. I loved how the first game had the Disney Legion of Doom and how they were the main villains of the plot. Every game after 1 has the Disney baddies taking a back seat to the OC anime villains. I mean, if they want to have a group of anime esque villains, that's cool, but imo they should have had maybe a team up of FF villains. Keep to the theme of the Disney/FF crossover. The first game focuses on the Disney villains, and then 2 would have Sora fighting the FF guys. Can you imagine a team up between like Kefka, Sephiroth, Kuja, and Seymour?

Generic Shonen? Stop with the gross exaggerations. You act as if Sora is some happy-go-lucky kid who also happens to be pretty slow in the brain and talks about friends/friendship a lot and is trusting of almost everyone. Psssh doesn't sound like Sora at all.

Literally all Sora is missing is the gluttonous aspect and he's full on Shonen trope.

Wouldn't be surprised. That was back in KH1, when people actually tried.

Now look at Birth By Sleep, where they show a "crowd" in Olympus Coliseum cheering for Hercules, and the camera is looking directly at the empty seats.

The worst part is in 2 when Hercules is fighting monsters in the Colosseum and there's a crowd cheering but no one is there

Using the Final Fantasy villains would have been a lot better IMO

Keep to the theme of the Disney/FF crossover.

How in the hell do you feel any "theme" of a "Disney/FF crossover"?

You see the FF characters for a total of like, 1-5% of the entire game. They contribute nothing to the plot. If the game really were a proper "Disney/FF" crossover, then there would be equal time and resources devoted to both. We probably wouldn't even have Sora and the other original characters if this game were intended as such. We'd have only Final Fantasy characters teaming up with Disney characters. We'd be going to Final Fantasy worlds alongside the Disney worlds. For example, Cecil, Terra, Cloud, Squall, etc., etc., would be the main characters the story revolves around along with Disney characters if this were an actual Disney/FF crossover. In KH1, they serve only as exposition, and in KH2, their biggest contribution is the battle in Hollow Bastion. Hell, in some games, there aren't even Final Fantasy characters at all, like in Days. Seriously, how did people play a game as an original, non-FF character accompanied by Disney characters, fighting other non-FF original characters and Disney villains for hours and hours without seeing any FF characters and somehow feel they were playing a Final Fantasy game?

That's kinda what I'm criticizing. 2 could've have been a great opportunity to have Sora go up against some classic FF baddies but Nomura instead wanted to use his OCs. Most of the FF side of the crossover comes from spells and abilities and a few visual references.

I want the FF side to have more influence, but it feels like now even the Disney side of things kinda gets pushed back in favor of the Organization plot.

It didn't, because it wasn't intended to be a crossover. The FF characters just make a cameo, that's all. It's supposed to be Square OCs + Disney.

Most of the FF side of the crossover comes from spells and abilities and a few visual references.

That's because, again, it's not a crossover. And giving magic and items the same names as in the FF series doesn't indicate it's a crossover. The spells and item names are just a reference to FF. If this series were intended to be an FF/Disney crossover, there would've been FF worlds and playable FF characters from the start. It would have actually felt like an FF/Disney crossover, which it doesn't.

I want the FF side to have more influence, but it feels like now even the Disney side of things kinda gets pushed back in favor of the Organization plot.

But it was never intended to have more influence. At the end of KH1, when you get to End of The World, an original KH world, and learn the secret of Kingdom Hearts and end up fighting an original KH villain, lots of people loved it, and rightfully so. So of course Square's gonna try more original stuff. Unfortunately, it does feel like Disney stuff did get pushed to the side. I loved in KH1 when we saw all the Disney villains scheming in the darkness, kinda leaving you wonder who's who, and when or where they'll appear. I loved that feeling. I kinda hope we get that again in KH3, but I doubt we will. ;_;

To be fair, the "Disney Legion of Doom" were never exactly a united front. Even in KH1 everyone was pretty much off doing their own thing, leaving only Maleficent to handle being an actual villain. Hell, Hades literally tells Maleficent to go fuck herself in KH1. I mean, sure he's a literal god so she has no power to threaten him with, but it really hammers home the fact no one cared about the big bad evil plan.

And that's ignoring that Ansem, every bit the "OC anime villain" you're accusing the Org of being, was the main villain of the first game.

And no, the last thing this series needed was shoehorning FF villains into some major role. I'll gladly take the Org over that any day.
