From: BioShock Infinite
Nominated by: Johnbobb (1 song remaining)

The original performance by Tears for Fears ranked #58 on my 80s list. Though like most other lists I've done, it'd probably get ranked higher if I redid the list with the same songs. Cause you know, things change.

Anyway, as much as I played BioShock Infinite (I almost platinum'd the damn thing), I somehow missed this fun little rendition of the Tears for Fears hit. There isn't much to say besides "Scott Bradlee took an 80s classic and performed it as if it were appearing in a silent movie" and honestly, that's a good thing.

This sounds like some end credits music that could be used with either any Nippon Ichi JRPG or an anime. It's a relaxing theme with soft vocals and nearly-symphonic music backing it up. Best part is the chorus, which starts at 55 seconds.

The opening piano, the part starting at 1:07, and the piano from 2:00-2:15 are the key highlights here. It's a fast paced theme for a boss battle and meets expectations.

From: Cytus
Nominated by: Tazzy (1 song remaining)

When you first listen to it, Oriens sounds like battle music you'd hear from nearly any NIS game. It's a fast-paced techno-esque tune that doesn't slow down until it ends. The creator supposedly put various references to other themes/songs throughout the tune; for example, at 42 seconds here, you can vaguely hear what's supposed to be John Cena's theme.

(Admittedly I got that from a Youtube comment, but I still chuckled when I heard that part)

Chrono Trigger truly is a once in a lifetime experience. If the soundtrack doesn't pull you in, it's gameplay and characters almost certainly will.

The main theme for 12,000 B.C. is a colorful track that benefits from the xylophone-sound that plays throughout the tune, as well as the part that comes in at 16 seconds. Not too shabby.

#83: Hollow Bastion
From: Kingdom Hearts
Nominated by: Bane of Despair (2 songs remaining)

In a game where the majority of worlds traveled are from the Disney universe, Hollow Bastion stands out in more ways than one. It's one of the few places created solely for Kingdom Hearts, and in the series' first title, it's also the end of the road. Hollow Bastion's theme fits its location, as you travel through a dark castle with no true sense of direction as Yoko Shimomura crafts a tune with a piano and synths setting the tone. Outside licensed tracks such as "Simple and Clean" and "Sanctuary", this may very well be the best composed track in Kingdom Hearts.

A nice and relaxing tune from a visual novel I've never heard of (or played, but then again, VNs aren't my thing). When the accordions (or what sound like them) come in at 20 seconds, the song becomes a little catchy and fun. This tune reminded me a little bit of a couple tunes from Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana. Passing up this game is a small regret of mine, as it does look pretty fun. This song is pretty rockin' and has a lot of positive vibe to it. A small part reminds me of Sami Zayn's theme, and the rest of it manages to combine rock instruments with 8-bit so well.

This track definitely made you truly feel like you were exploring uncharted space territory. While slow for some, the slight "percussion" throughout the tune gives you that sci-fi/horror esque atmosphere to it, and the part that comes in at 26 seconds is probably what stands out to me the most.

The piano does a good job throughout the song, but it's the flute that comes in at around 10 seconds that makes this theme well worthwhile. Whether it's stuff like this, or the J-Pop that Utada Hikaru has contributed to this game, I've for the most part enjoyed the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks.

As for the games themselves, well... the 2 main titles and Dream Drop Distance are good >_> (though I never played Re: Coded or Birth By Sleep)

The main riff that lasts throughout most of the song is okay, but holy hell @ the guitar that comes in at 17 seconds. We're then treated to a solid minute of some badass guitar licks that help contribute to the awesomeness that was Persona 4.

I fell in love with Persona 4 the moment I played it in 2009, shortly after it won my 2008 GotY tournament. The game also came with the soundtrack, which was also outstanding. "Reach Out to the Truth" and "Heartbeat, Heartbreak" both would have ranked pretty well here too.

Updates on title lengths/reigns/etc...

WWE Championship - Orton wins his 9th WWE title and 13th overall world title! Bray Wyatt's reign as the 49th WWE Champion ended at 49 days and in 37th place overall. Orton on the other hand is in 7th on the all-time list with 614 days total; next up in 6th is Bret Hart with 655.

Universal - Goldberg's reign ended at 28 days, which is officially the second longest reign with this title, yet the shortest world title reign of his career. Brock's already passed Finn Balor for 3rd place, and will pass Goldberg with ease. The REAL question is, does he pass Owens?

IC - Ambrose with 157 days total as IC champion has just passed Curtis Axel for 35th place. Next in line is Drew McIntyre and Santino Marella, with 161 and 162 days respectively.

US - Chris Jericho's sole reign ended at 83 days, just enough to pass Goldberg for 54th place. He just misses passing both Matt Hardy and Dean Malenko though. Kevin Owens becomes the 85th person to hold the US title, and is in 84th place after passing Raven.

Raw Tag Team - As crazy as it sounds, this is Jeff Hardy's first title reign with these specific belts. Matt had a previous reign in 2007 with MVP, so he currently sits in 44th place (out of 74 people) with 81 days. Jeff Hardy's in 73rd place, just only passing John Cena.

SD Tag - American Alpha TIED Slater/Rhino for longest SD tag title reign before dropping the belts to the Usos. Usos are still in last for one more week with 16 days before they pass The Wyatt Family's 23-day reign.

Raw Women's - Bayley only needs to hold the title for four more weeks and she passes Sasha for 2nd place! (out of 3 people! >_>)

SD Women's - Naomi's in last with 12 days. Considering Becky has 85 and Bliss has 111, this won't change for a while.

Cruiserweight - Neville just passed Rich Swann to become the longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion under the new belt, with 66 days total. If this were the old Cruiserweight title, Neville would be tied for 19th place with Jushin Liger (out of 40 people total)

Useless/Made Up Titles that we/the PWB keep up with
WWE's The Man: John Cena
WWE's The Guy: Brock Lesnar
WWE Raw Jobber Champion: Bo Dallas
WWE SD Jobber Champion: Vacated before WrestleMania, as Aiden English didn't defend the title for six weeks. New first-to-three series is underway

Raw Women's Jobber Champion: Charlotte Flair
SD Women's Jobber Champion: Alexa Bliss

By the time ODST came out, I was so far gone from the Halo series. In fact, I'd have never played Halo 4 last year if a friend didn't have the collection on Xbox One.

The music here is slow and somber, almost as if you feel the struggle that the orbital drop shock troopers went through in this game. Various musicians contributed the piano, violins, and a saxophone to give this tune the effect it needed to succeed. In the end, the game's soundtrack had winners in Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori.

That being said, Cursed Leorina's theme is fun to listen to. The main melody could very well be done by violins if they wanted to go that route. It's a solid boss battle theme, and honestly, if there's anyone that needs to return to action, it's Klonoa. His appearances in the past 16 years have been quite rare.

Catamounts (Western Carolina represent)

If I considered Army company units on this poll... well I'd still have voted animals (currently Big Dawgs; last unit I was at, my company's mascot was Wolverines)

#101: Title Screen Theme
From: Pictionary
Nominated by: LOLIAmAnAlt (3 songs remaining)

Not gonna lie, this theme would get me amped the fuck up to play some Pictionary. It's a 92 second theme that hardly ever lets up when you first turn on your NES with this game loaded in. The best part of the song lies between 0:34 and 1:10, and I could imagine it being played on guitar (much like several other themes nominated for this topic)

So props to Software Creations for this tune, and props to LJN for releasing this game (probably the only good thing that company ever did >_>.)
