From: Metal Gear Solid V - The Phantom Pain
Nominated by: Great Paul (1 song remaining)

First off, let me commend Stefanie Joosten for the performance she puts here. Her singing is beautiful and makes Metal Gear's music library as a whole better than it already was with her contributions. Outside of that, we get some nice piano and relaxing violins that help make an excellent tune, but it'll forever be Joosten's vocals that stand out more than anything else here.

I guess Jinder decided that since Bray couldn't win the belt on Sunday, he'd just take it for himself because why the fuck not?

Also a slight loophole in Rusev's promo; he never said what title he'd be demanding to wrestle for. Now watch us get Rusev vs. Styles (or Owens) for the US title at MITB. It'd still be better than how he was booked on Raw, but still >_>

A solid combination of piano and guitar from beginning to end. "Bloody Tears" has been a great tune throughout the series, but possibly hits its peak here capped off with some epic guitar work at 1:40. Well worth listening to as Alucard busts into Dracula's Castle ready to kill.

This song gave me a Death Note vibe when I first heard it, which is never a bad thing. These vocals wouldn't work as well in many other songs, but they blend in well with the dark, metal tone that emanates from this tune. Key highlights include the verse at 1:00 and the guitar work at 2:04

Unfortunately, this also means I won't be on here tomorrow, as I have important work-related stuff out of town. I might be able to bump this if I get a chance, but that's basically it for me until Wednesday. Otherwise, just keep this from the jaws of the purge monster

Voted the top choice. The Stunner was an instant crowd pop machine when Austin used it. That combined with DDP and Orton's ability to counter moves into their finisher helps it beat out the Sweet Chin Music

Also just read in a recent article from a radio interview with Cody Rhodes what WWE had in mind for him if he never left. One plan was for Stardust to be drafted to Raw and Cody Rhodes to be drafted to SmackDown, thus making him "appear" on both shows. Cody said he was down for the idea, as were several others. However, only one person was against it, and that person's answer had precedence over everyone else.

The opening 10 seconds told me everything I needed to know. A fucking awesome drumline that reminded me of the opening to "Painkiller" followed by some lightning fast keyboarding and heavy guitar. It's no surprise that a song as fast paced as this comes from a arcade shoot-em-up, and it's something that would easily get anyone motivated to take on such a game, no matter how challenging it may be.

This one leaves many feeling a little sad, myself included. This slowly well done theme describes the pain and struggle that Locke puts himself through in his quest to revive Rachel, his girlfriend. It has some very nice guitar/bass (16-bit versions of them at least) and the part starting at 57 seconds and lasting until the theme repeats itself is IMO the top moment of the tune.

#36: Frequency 140.85
From: Metal Gear 2 - Solid Snake
Nominated by: Vlado (No songs remaining)

The Metal Gear series as a whole has had nearly incredible tunes from start to finish. Want proof? This is the lowest ranked song out of the six nominated from the Metal Gear series and it's only #36.

Taken from the rarely played Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Frequency plays when you're making your way to the Zanzibar building. The main medley that plays throughout the opening minute is catchy and fits the tactical espionage atmosphere the game provides. My personal favorite part is the moment starting at 1:10 and lasts roughly 17 seconds, which includes some nice and quick buildup with some of the sounds.

I immediately love the opening 27 seconds with the piano leading the way; it's a solid opening that helps set the stage for this game. What follows is a nice and almost-soothing medley that turns out to be pretty good. The other great part of this tune is at 2 minutes, when the pace picks up a little and drums get added to the mix.

I'm usually not one for playing visual novel games, but I can't deny the near top notch quality of their soundtracks.

When you listen to this theme, it's like you're walking through the corridors of Hell. Which is only appropriate, because you're also about to play Bloodborne, one of the equivalents of Hell according to From Software >_>

The song is nearly 4 minutes of a dark, hollow tone that you'd be used to hearing in a dark castle, mixed with a solo female's choir-like vocals and violins, all combined for an experience that is damn near haunting.

Some could say that this theme doesn't have much substance to it, but the composing work done by Piotr Musiał does so much with so little. The dark, slow sound mixed with the appropriately-timed percussion fits perfectly for a game as mentally and emotionally stressful as this. Pivotal point comes at 1:00 when a guitar briefly comes in for about 20-30 seconds.

Yeah, Hammond and Thompson both have been on SNL for 14 seasons now. Kenan passed Hammond for most impersonations (122 to Hammond's 107 as of recently). On top of that, Kenan also became the first SNL cast member to be born after SNL's first episode in 1975.

Hammond still has the record for most episodes appeared on SNL, with 280 (272 as a cast member and 8 cameos), though I'm certain Kenan will probably pass that in a few years also.

The flute that comes in at 6 seconds is what truly defines this overworld theme and helps make FF6 much more enjoyable than it already is. While I admit to not playing FF6 in quite awhile (finished it about 8 years ago), this theme stands out more than nearly any other in the game and might be my favorite from said game. When compared to other FF overworld themes, it stands tall with the ones for 7 and 9.

Also at times I find myself whistling this theme

#42: Yami
From: Okami

As my personal pick for 2006 Game of the Year, Okami was filled with excellent moments and features, with its soundtrack being one of them. In Amaterasu's final battle with Yami, the Ruler of Darkness, we get treated with this theme that fits the game's historical Japanese background very well. The percussion and string work in this song is damn near impeccable and when the flutes get added to this, it's borderline haunting at times.

I stand firmly by my belief that Okami may very well be the last nearly-perfect title released by Capcom, and it's now been 11 years since.

GITADORA sounds like an epic rhythm game if this song tells us anything. EVIL OGRE is a fast paced metal tune with some guitar that doesn't slow down at all. My personal favorite part is the few licks that start around 1:45 and ends at 2:00, but it's hard to pinpoint just one good part of what is potentially a nearly four minute long guitar solo. If there's any setbacks, it's probably just the abrupt ending that suddenly halts the song. Otherwise, this one's pretty badass

Not gonna lie, the opening riff reminds me of a slightly harder version of "Black Betty". Then starting at 35 seconds we get some awesome guitar that lasts throughout most of the song. Now I just need to play Tropical Freeze, which is easier said than done with no Wii U =\

XX: Lost Painting
From: Castlevania - Symphony of the Night
Curiously suggested by: LOLIAmAnAlt (Still 1 song remaining)

The latest of songs not officially nominated comes from arguably the best Castlevania game ever created. "Lost Painting" is a beautifully crafted tune that fits Symphony of the Night near perfectly; like it's something I could definitely find myself listening to while I actually explored Dracula's castle (but not when I'm fighting demons obviously). The medley between 0:57 and 1:38 stands out the most. All in all, it's a relaxing tune that may sound different from the fast-paced vampire slaying music we're used to in Castlevania, but still has plenty of heart.

Words can't express how much I've loved Xenoblade Chronicles. It stands strong as one of the best games in the 2010s and there's plenty of reasons why; for example, if it's not the gameplay and story that keeps people pulled in, it's the A+ quality soundtrack composed by ACE+ and crew.

Colony 9's main theme is held together by some really good acoustic guitar and violins, and when they join up early in the song, you get something that's well worth exploring to. Xenoblade has a soundtrack I'd recommend to anyone; in fact, both day and night versions of Gaur Plains probably would have been top 20 on this list.

As one of the tunes that plays when you wake up on various Spring days, The Valley Comes Alive is a great song to begin your farming quest with (considering you begin the game in Spring, I mean). In this tune, my favorite part begins at 48 seconds.
