Also, I'm kind of amazed Ada and PHP are making a comeback.

MySQL isn't a language, it's just a database engine. It's very popular.

Harakiri is one of the greatest films ever made, he was fantastic in it.

My father is retired Navy, I'm going to get lunch with him today since I have the day off but I don't think we will specifically talk about his military service. It's something we rarely talk about.

I'll give the new format a shot, their competition has changed so they had to evolve too. I really wish they brought back some of the cool indie animations, those were fun. I would love if more of the old episodes showed up on Netflix, HBO had a bunch then they removed them. Just give me the option to watch an episode from 1988 if I want.

This is the complete opposite of my experience, it's not common for the younger generation to eat it or enjoy it. It's mostly a nostalgia thing for older generations that ate it Post-WWII when they were starving to death and it became a staple of lunch boxes. The government has to subsidize the whale fishers because demand for the meat is so low.

I saw him live for the first time earlier this year, great musician. Definitely the most talented in Kiss, he will be missed.

I did see all four original members of Kiss at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2014, but they just gave a speech instead of performing. Bruce Springsteen went on for hours and they had to cut the ceremony short.

Mills is exactly what the party in Washington always wants: a familiar and relatively popular elected official who can raise money and has plenty of campaign experience.

It's a $37 billion industry in the US. Good on Canada, but it will have almost no real impact on the liquor manufacturers. Losing 0.1% in sales but getting massive tax breaks from Trump, these people are unfortunately going to look at it as a net win.

There are 18 levels to the dungeon. Book 8 is for levels 10 and 11. I don't know if the plan is to finish all 18 levels or if something is planned to happen before then, but it's not open ended or anything.

Heard great things about this series. Is there a definitive ending that it's working towards, or is it just ongoing until the author stops?

Much like the other awards, this has no impact on my life. If it makes them happy, then go for it.

I hate Minus One because it's right wing propaganda and apparently people outside Japan don't realize that and even if you show them all the evidence from domestic critics to the director literally making other right wing propaganda movies and being friends with a neo-Nazi author they just ignore you. It's a well made movie, but the lack of media literacy makes me hate it more than if it was just well made right-wing propaganda and understood as such.

'Media literacy' is just a term people use that want to feel superior. Perhaps you are trying so hard to hate on something popular that you are reading too far into some of the themes.

Now? He's been a drug addict for years, he used to post pictures of meth and go on multi-day benders on meth and alcohol.

He's always had an addictive personality, whether it was drugs, alcohol, games, anime. He idolizes hip hop and drug culture and desperately wants to be part of it. Instead he just became a crack head.

I never really liked it, I felt it hit a weird mix of not quite clever enough to be a successful parody and not fun enough to be a successful action movie. A good idea on paper that never lived up to the premise.

It's not just private business; some Federal agencies (e.g., DOJ) use VPNs for remote access. Even with the return-to-office, there's still some work that can or must be done remotely.

I use a VPN even when I'm in the office, I'm sure other companies do too. This bill is just nonsense.

It's crazy to me how useless our elected officials are. That millions of people see how useless they are, and then go ahead and continue to vote for them anyway.

I've seen every movie, but I'm primarily a fan of the Showa series. My favorites are the original 1954, Invasion of the Astro Monster, Destroy All Monsters, the first Mechagodzilla, and Shin.

I liked most of the books we had to read, with the exception of Uncle Tom's Cabin. I know it's culturally important, but damn is it long and not engaging for a 15 year old.

My favorite book we read was In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, absolutely fantastic book.

I'd say the most unbelievable part is that he actually hit the bird while blinding shooting in an office building.

aren't these things pretty much a scam that's only barely viable because a bunch of countries have made it functionally impossible to build a full sized nuclear power plant? i'd prefer we cut through a lot of the fossil fuel lobbyist money funded red tape and just build more full scale nuclear power plants please.

I don't know if I would say it's a scam, but it will supply about 1% of the country's needs. A full scale modern power plant would be something like 5-6%. Only building one of these new plants is probably not worth the effort, but if they can get a couple dozen as is planned, it will be a nice offset from coal. Hopefully it goes well.

Scrolling through Reddit and there were multiple posts about some of the recent 'paparazzi' style photos that were denying the inconsistencies with older photos. That's where it borders a conspiracy theory for me, ignoring evidence that disproves something because you want to believe otherwise.

There are definitely people stating there is a Trump body double and/or claiming all the recent photos are faked. I would consider those conspiracy theories.

I've experienced the pre-billing thing recently, I don't remember having to do that years ago. It didn't really bother me, but it did seem kind of strange.

Wonder Years had a different theme when it was first on streaming, though they paid up eventually and got the theme back. When they released the DVDs they got something like 90% of the original music, which was a huge feat with how much pop music they had in the show.

I love Gun.Smoke on the NES. Technically it's not a better game, but I would rather play it.

Not really, 2020 was the first time she faced actual competition and was close to losing a majority of votes. Previously she was able to coast into re-election pretty easily.

I remember liking the second one quite a bit when I saw it in the theater.

Susan Collins is not really very beloved here anymore. She was considered a fairly level headed moderate in the past, and she's been coasting on that and the dumbasses up north for support. I do think her time is limited, but it won't necessarily be easy.

Where does all that money go

Most of this list is Boston - we have some of the highest housing costs in the nation, and this list is using the most expensive dorms for each school. So yeah, you are paying a lot but you are also living in an apartment that would generally be several thousand a month if you were renting.

I just realized Bentley is up there. I was actually accepted to that school for their Marketing program. I even have an acceptance shirt I got from them. I later saw the cost of tuition and backed out the moment after.
It's honestly kind of awkward having it. I almost jumped into it. I think at the time, it was like 65k a year. I was like 'Yeah that's too much'. To wear the shirt would to me, feel like stolen valor. So it's been sitting in my dresser at the bottom, lol.

Also, no, that's not wear on the shirt. I think it just came like that. To kind of give a 'legacy' feel to the University.

Ha, this is my school. Though it was still College at the time. I got a good education there, but it was very heavily reliant on rich international kids. I didn't fit in super well. But the financial aid was great, it was 3x the cost of my state school but ended up being significantly cheaper since the state school gave me almost nothing in scholarships.

Hell yeah, my school made the top 15! When I went it was around $55K a year, but after scholarships I think I only paid like $10K a year on average.
