Lots of stomach gurgling now

I was sedated for mine.

The bowel evacuation is basically like peeing from your butt (it's pure liquid)

I've been putting it off for a year now myself. I'm fine with the anesthesia, had it with my endoscopy. It was pleasant. I just dread the non-stop shitting tonight.

I had an endoscopy at the same time as my colonoscopy. That powdered shit is nasty, but I least they gave me a lemon flavoring packet
Getting C's and D's, saying thanks and please.
You broke the golden rule, you're staying after school.
I'm 39 and reading this has me filled with dread.

But then again, I get diarrhea like every single weekend, so it can't be much worse.

It's pretty inconvenient, yeah, but it's honestly better than a diarrhea bout.

You get the gurgles, you suddenly need to go NOW, and it's pure liquid pretty quickly after that.

You don't get the burning and nausea you'd feel from diarrhea, though. It really is just basically peeing out the butt.

The prep methods are the unpleasant part, but TC got a good one.

Don't be. The prep doesn't hurt. Drinking the "solution" can be a bit nasty but it's not too bad.

In fact, afterwards you feel great.
So far, nothing. Can it take this long? An hour passed so far.

People really overstate the procedure. The prep isn't even as bad as people make it out to be. not a huge issue. My only snag was coming awake during my procedure and that really hurt until they knocked me back out. I also came away during an EGD procedure and that sucked until they knocked me back out. But all in all not bad.

I really just wanted to prank TC into wearing a depends to his procedure lol

What were your symptoms up to that point?

Intense abdominal pain, ~15 loose stools a day, blood in my stool. These symptoms lasted about 2 years and then went way down and it's pretty much completely under control now even though I don't take any meds for it. it flares up sometimes when I'm really stressed.

Beats dying of cancer. Colonoscopy is how they found mine.

Fell asleep, and woke up an hour later feeling completely sick, and light headed. Couldn't even stand right. Had some honey and Jello. Nearly threw up, ran to the bathroom for relief. Feel much better now. Taking second and final dose soon.

Wasn't that bad tbh.

Back home. Prep was excellent. All normal. Not even a polyp. No cancer, nor IBD. See you in 10 years is what I got. Had a nice 40 minutes sleep. I feel like crying from the relief. Damn. Thank you all for the tips, and good luck wishes.

Glad it went well, TC! The prep was awful for me when I had one done in my 20s just to check some stuff out, but I'm glad you didn't have my experience.

Oh, the prep wasn't pleasant by any means. I was shivering all night, with nausea like a mild stomach flu. And thank you.

I wish I could get one. A guy from my high school class died from colon cancer, and now I'm scared of it.

What I don't get is how you're supposed to watch for changes in bowel movements. Doesn't everyone experience diarrhea and constipation occasionally? I assume most people don't have the same type of shit every day.

It only becomes an issue when you're seeing alot of blood in your stool, or black stool, lose weight without trying, like 10+ pounds in couple weeks, and your poop comes out pencil thin most of the time.

alot of blood other than a possible hemorrhoid is a huge warning sign.

How old are you? If you have a family history they might order one for you. I got mine at 33 cause my uncle died from this at 60. Also yeah, its becoming a trend between young people. Your best defense is a healthy lifestyle, specially diet.

Good work. My wife has diverticular disease and had to go through the same stuff. She took some laxatives the night before and never made it to the bathroom unfortunately :D

I'm 38. There's no history of colon cancer in my family, but there is some Crohn's disease on my mom's side of the family.

This is what convinced me into getting a colonoscopy a couple years ago. Seeing so much blood both on the stool and on the toilet paper scared the shit(no pun intended) out of me. Thankfully all that was found were two small polyps(which were removed) and hemorrhoids.

From what I've been reading, when young adults see blood in their stool, they assume it's just hemorrhoids because they think they're too young to get colon cancer. And if they do go see a doctor, that doctor will also assume it's just hemorrhoids without doing any testing because that person's too young. And then years later, that person ends up diagnosed with either stage 3 or 4 colon cancer. You'd think by now all medical professionals will be aware that colon cancer is no longer an "old man's disease".

No. Eventually, everyone here will go through it if they haven't already, and you'll find out there's 0 motivation to make jokes about it. You'll be so tired, and weak.

With the pain, and issues I've been having with my stomach for couple years, I'm surprised my colon was crystal clean. Saw all the pics. Doc believes it's stress, IBS, and muscle related.

Shit, my manager had a colonoscopy and a endoscopy at the same time.

But an endoscopy isn't as bad as a bronchoscopy, I think....
The one where they take a chunk of you lung sucks.
You can't drink water for like 2 hours afterward or before, and the lube stuff they use for your throat sticks to the top of your mouth.
I tried using paper towels to get it off, which is useless when your mouth has no moisture.
By the time I could drink water, I was like fuck it, I'm drinking beer.

what is going on with your intestines?
It's actually a good thing.

Colon cancer cases have actually gone up in younger people. To the point that they are now recommending a younger age to get your colonoscopy. I think the recommendation is now 30? March was actually colon cancer awareness month.

Anyway, it's actually a good thing more are becoming aware. I say all of this as someone who admittedly hasn't gotten one yet and I'm 32. So kudos to everyone who has. I plan to follow suit either later this year or next year.

I'm pretty sure in the US you can't get one until 45 unless you show symptoms or are high risk

I got one at 24 because of bloody stools. Doc told me it was just hemorrhoids and that I needed to have another one at age 49.

I think it has to do with more studies being done, and more young adults taking proactive measures rather than just ignoring it like our parent's generation. Not to mention, with medicaid, people can get them for free.

Good job being proactive. Bloody and black stool was one of my first signs of lymphoma years ago. I wish I would have been as smart. I almost waited too long.

The issue it was for is nothing serious or life threatening so I've kinda put it off.
