I was so happy today at the gym. Last week, I succesfully progressively overloaded 85lb dumbbells on inclined dumbbell bench press and got 11 reps in on my 1st set. Which means that on the next time I do the exercise (which was this morning), I could do 90lb dumbbells.
So today, I did incline dumbbell bench press with 90lb dumbbells (so 180lb) and got 7 reps in (failed on the 8th rep). Shit was dope af. I'm hoping next week I can successfully do 10 reps, I probably won't be able too, but it would be nice.
Damn that looks good. What's your process of cooking cauliflower rice? I've tried it a few times and despite that I like cauliflower, I just can't get the cauliflower rice to do it for me.
I am moving on Saturday and I just ran a loop from the apartment to the house and back. 6.5 miles but I walked the last 2 because I don't want sore legs. That was fun. Took too long of a break from work, but fuck it, it's my birthday
yeah i dunno, that doesn't sound like a healthy relationship to have with food. you shouldn't have to miss eating or not enjoy eating anymore in order to be healthy. ever since i made the decision to eat healthier, i've discovered foods that i never even knew i would enjoy so much, that are much healthier than the fast food shit i used to shovel in my mouth without thinking. like my meal-prepped chicken and grain and veggie bowls, or all kinds of sauteed or roasted veggies in general. it should be about finding foods and ways to cook them that are healthy but that you also enjoy eating. and not sweating it when you indulge every so often in more unhealthy stuff, but try to limit that.Agreed
Happy birthdayAnd thank you, sir

Yeah I think I'm fucking up my form, because I had to cut my leg day short, as my lower back was hurting like hell.It happens. Don't worry about it. You'll likely be fine next time
Fixed some of my issues on my squat, so my back wasn't hurting nearly as much as it usually does, but after hip thrusts, I was basically done. Tried to do a couple more machines but just couldn't do them and went home.
Rest is as important as being in the gym. Remember that, your body needs to rest to build . As for your knees, you can try knee sleeves. I have some from Amazon for like 7 or 9 dollars something like that. And they work really well. They can go up to the 50s and more. But my little cheap ones have helped my knees on leg day.yeah i didn't really feel like i needed to rest because i feel fine each day. my left knee is just bad and i need to strengthen it. I was gonna get up and get dressed to do classes today but my knee felt funny so i'm not gonna chance it ill just stay in this weekend.
When was the last time you replaced the battery?
damn, i think my system has evolved to be less tolerant of junk food than it used to be, lol. the weekend freebie deal at Vons this week was a bag of new Buffalo flavor Cheetos, so i picked one up and ate most of it, and not only did it give me the shits, but now i have a slight headache too. damn. i guess that's a good thing though. i shouldn't be eating that kind of shit.Your body adjusts to your diet. I'll go through bouts of eating healthy and a cheeseburger will put me down. Then other times when I've been eating garbage, if I eat a salad it will destroy my insides
There was one time I had dinner last week and it wasn't even that much food (maybe 1.5k calories if we're estimating everything on the high end but probably closer to 1k) and afterwards I felt super stuffed like I had eaten 6k calories in one sitting. Was weird.i got full off eating a small bag of Haribo peaches as a snack. I only ate like 4 and my tummy was like "no more" even though by all means relative to my body i barely ate anything that day besides 3 chicken strips, water, and that.
Okay I am back at 197 on my Wii scale. I no when in got the lower number it could have just been a glitch or something. Because today it said since last week. I have gained 6 pounds. And while I am not great at eye balling weight gain and lost. I know that didn't happen. I also know that I could have gone up since I wasn't moving around at all last week. But again I know I did not gain all of that. So I am going to keep pushing. I know when I go to the doctor I will be out of the 100 club l when I have to weigh in with more then just shorts. But I am ready for that. I know all ready it is going to be hard. But in bracing myself. Anywho...inam thinking about getting some hooters. I am not giving up or giving inweight fluctuates a lot, theres no way people put on 6 pounds of true fat in a week or two unless they absolutely go bonkers and eat pure junk food all day every day. Sometimes we just retain a lot of water due to high sodium diets
But I had some the other day and Damn.

Thanks for chiming in! So, after giving it some thought, I've come to a realization I might be experiencing this issue because I've recently started taking steroids. No, not the Mark McGwire kind that goes in your butt, but some medication the doctor prescribed for my mobility issues. It seems like I'm retaining fluids like crazy and not peeing them out. On the bright side, my pants are falling off because I'm shedding weight, so even with the scale saying that I know I am the right direction. I'm looking fabulous and feeling... well, let's just say not exactly fine. I keep telling myself I'm feeling fine, but truth be told, it's bothering me. Here's hoping I can start making some serious gains, maybe that can be a plus since I have lose so much good mass while losing weight.here's what i do
Yeah, when I started, Deadlifts just seemed not worth it for hypertrophy. They're like a B tier exercise at best (possibly C tier), and have an insanely high chance at causing injury. I think I did it like once or twice then never again. People building for strength can probably get use out of them, but for hypertrophy, not worth it.
Squats seem to be a lot better, but still, the rate of injury seems to be too high for me to be comfortable doing them. But they do seem somewhat useful for hypertrophy.
In any case, I haven't done either in a while. I might incorporate Smith machine squats in the future though.
Slightly annoyed that my weight stayed the same from Monday to today when I probably ate somewhere between a 6k to 7k calorie deficit, but since I already hit my goal it's whatever. I have found myself drinking a little less water and eating at less of a deficit on non-diet days so that might be affecting why things are slowing down.it'll do that too. As long as your clothes are starting to fit better the process is working, even if scientifically challenged you might have a "woosh" where you just drop a bunch of weight all at once
Ive recently set up a weight bench at home. Since Ive been unable to go to the gym, Ive been keeping up with my workouts at home. Now that Im able to walk a bit more, Ive managed to complete a full workout session.Dumbbell plates are a friend for life. The ones I bought in 2020 I still use every day.
Heres the breakdown of my workout, performed with resistance bands:
Cable Curls: 3 sets of 8 reps at 70 pounds
Cable Tricep Pushdowns: 3 sets of 8 reps at 70 pounds
Cable Lying Tricep Extensions: 3 sets at 70 pounds
Dumbbell Bench Press: 3 sets of 8 reps at 30 pounds
Planks
The only issue Ive encountered is the price of dumbbell plates. Like wait the hell.
Dumbbell plates are a friend for life. The ones I bought in 2020 I still use every day. Also you can use either for dumbells too, which is awesome. The folks that buy fixed weight dumbells when they're first starting out is absurd and a massive waste of money. Even if you're just purchasing enough weights for dumbells that you're only maxing out at 30lbs, you've opened up a world of other exercises that you cannot do with two fixed 30lb dumbells. You have a ton of options with various exercise and can do all sorts of progressive overload. Then if you stick with it and grow, you can invest some more money later.
You got choices. If your weight bench is standard, the weights can be a lot more affordable. If they're Olympic you'll be able to use them anywhere for anything.
