but also from a big release standpoint November seems surprisingly empty this year after how stacked September and October were. A lot of 3rd party titles just trying to avoid Call of Duty?

I played the first two Zelda musous co-op and enjoyed both! I don't have a good way to played AoI co-op currently though, so that'll have to wait a while.

(i've heard people i know mention this game before though i don't really know much about it myself. similar to unbeatable it's had a prologue release (in this case just a normal demo) for several years. seems to me though that it's pretty much a top down action game under the partial guise of a 2d adventure game with a pretty involved story)

honestly fair, it may be a borderline remake but it's still functionally just an existing game, from the 90s. and also honestly who wouldn't just get kirby on that day lol

it was mostly unbeatable and possessors i was trying to get onto the poll tbh (and to a degree the new inazuma eleven and bubble bobble games) since i felt like they were the actual biggest ones of note for here after air riders (which is a very damning thing to say about the month but it is what it is lol)

of all the poll options it's definitely the one i feel the most conflicted on being there considering it already has a console release lol
that said it is still a more deserving game to make the poll than most of them lol

I pre-purchased Football Manager 26 but didn't really sink my teeth into it at all. The general discourse seems negative though. I can't tell if it's because people hate change (completely revamped UI) or if there are legitimate concerns.

I'm going to buy an early access game on Steam that comes out tomorrow called The Last Caretaker, an exploration crafting/building thing where youre a robot trying to revive humanity on a desolate world. I've seen it compared to games like Subnautica so I'm pretty excited for it. Not sure I'll get anything else this month.

it's funny because i'm pretty sure i ended up including every touhou game that i mentioned in the past 3 months of topics EXCEPT touhou 20 (you know, the actually official one lol). fangames have simply been more well received apparently

i think the series popularity is probably proportionate to the fangame count tbh, its fan album (and just general arrangement) count remains even more extreme and of that a lot ends up on youtube with millions of views to their name.

that said, there may well be more touhou fangames than non-touhou doujin games period (i'm pretty sure it has to at least be close since they're both well into the thousands) and from that perspective, yeah, there probably is too many lol

i think it's really interesting how such a culture developed, how so many hundreds of independent teams would solely dedicate their creative output to the world of one of their peers. arguably a testament to how inspiring his worldbuilding methods are... though also to their own efforts (and every other facet of the fandom) in further broadening the audience. especially nowadays, where some of the fangames are reaching more people than zun's works combined (eg. million sellers like luna nights, mystia's izakaya). but i still think that without him at the core further developing and reinforcing the lore and worldview of the core series, melding so many obscure folklore/religious concepts into every new place and character, it wouldn't still be going on like this, decades past the point where it first really exploded in popularity. and i think that's neat
