The vast majority of the US, including Democratic voters, still associates the word 'communism' with 'bad'. It's the right play to make.

Communism IS bad. Like, inherently bad. It doesn't work without a ruling authority, but once you give the authority that power, they will exploit it.

I like Democratic Socialism, where social policies are passed with majority support. Way more stable than communism and unchecked capitalism.

Liberal democracy would certainly be correct in its assertion that its authorities are evil, but it does a poor job of defending against those evils because it doesn't really want to.

In order to evenly distribute wealth, you would need a small class to have dictatorial control of the nation's wealth. In a democracy with co-equal branches of government that are regularly voted on by the public, nobody would be able to attain the control necessary to distribute the wealth in that way.

Of course, if a nation is gripped by nationalism, then it's all fucked anyway regardless of form of government.
