Following Trumps order, Interior Department officials issued policies ordering agency employees to report any information, including signage and gift shop items, that might be out of compliance.Trump officials also launched an effort asking park visitors to report offending material, but they mostly received criticisms of the administration and praise for the parks.

The latest orders include removing information at Harpers Ferry National Historic Park in West Virginia, two people familiar with the matter said, where the abolitionist John Brown led a raid seeking to arm slaves for a revolt. Staff have also been told that information at the Presidents House Site in Philadelphia, where George Washington kept slaves, does not comply with the policy, according to a third individual.

...Separately, Park Service officials have ordered the removal of a photograph illustrating violence against slaves, known as The Scourged Back, at one national park. The photograph, taken in 1863, shows scars on the back of a man probably named Peter Gordon from wounds inflicted by his masters before he escaped slavery.

By erasing it from history. No one will question it if it never happened.

Which means he can then bring it back.

Hence why there's PragerU propaganda that says.

"Slavery wasn't that bad, think of all the good things that came from it and all the things black people learned as a result!"

Yea in one, 2 kids go back in time and talk to Christopher Columbus. He tells the kids that slavery is better than being killed so with that in mind, the kids learn that what he did to natives was actually a kindness

Here is a clip of the exact moment I am talking about from the prageru kids episode about Columbus. Its from a show about 2 siblings who go through history and meet famous fascists who always tell them what they did was actually not evil cause reasons

Is this sarcasm? There's a huge distance between accepting an endorsement from certain Republicans and literally trying to pretend that slavery was a good thing...Kamala Harris was not a perfect candidate but you're delusional if you really think "whitewash slavery at our national parks and monuments" is something that her administration would have done.

That's the worst part. He's not trying to erase it from history, he's trying to Ministry of Truth it.

He wants to remove criticism of slavery and promote it as a good thing. Like DeSantis' comment about slavery being "professional skills development."

It's why Trump and his ilk champion the 1776 Project and try to memory home the 1619 Project.

Shit is way more sinister than just reading history.

And it serves no real political purpose either. It's not like his supporters are going to like him any less if he *doesn't* do this. It does absolutely nothing to benefit him or his party in any way, which means it's not even a calculated political move of any kind - it's just what they really believe and want people to think, and that's disturbing on so many levels.

Remember how America used to be able to talk shit about China because China censors discussion of the Cultural Revolution? Well...not anymore. We're actually worse - the Communists still have to pretend that Mao was great, but even they acknowledge that the Cultural Revolution was a huge mistake (they just have to tiptoe around criticism of Mao, because they still derive much of their political legitimacy from him). We're going *backwards*, and that's some foul shit.

The modern-day GOP takes its roots from southern Dixiecrats, who were, of course, the descendants of slaveholders. Kinda makes sense.

And of course they're trying to re-write history because they were already successful. The right-wing media machine was able to successfully whitewash January 6 as a "protest" or a "riot" when in fact it was a fucking terrorist attack, and the liberals went along with it. One of the worst aspects of Biden's presidency is that he didn't come down hard enough on the terrorists while he could, and now they've been pardoned. It's only a matter of time before one of them runs for Congress or is appointed to Trump's cabinet.

Farmers love Trump because in his first term he made it easier to effectively enslave the people working on their farms so they could make more profit while exploiting their workers even more and on top of that they got bailout money, they still love Trump because the ones who manage to survive until 2026 will get more bailouts and the already approved money for them in the BBB and there was that comment Trump made a few months ago about making these farmers effectively new age slave masters and how his ghouls, Lucnik and Miller want Americans to fill those job specifically poor americans and people in prisons.

Of course the non wealthy farmers are gonna be priced out, go under long before that BBB money comes to them but you know who will get it? The corporations who buy those now ruined farmer's land for pennies on the dollar thanks to acer trader an app that JD Vance has stock in and stands to make millions off in the following months if he hasn't already

All of this, this whole thing is a way to transfer wealth to the ultra wealthy, grant them legalized slavery, grant them even more of our tax dollars and further enrich and empower themselves at least until the eventual economic collapse because running the government like a ponzi scheme can't last forever but it doesn't have to last forever just enough for these people to live out their lives in luxury or until they can enrich themselves enough to simply flee to another country while maintaining their lifestyle.

Cruelty, Selfishness and absolute Greed will destroy this country and billions will pay the price for a few hundred people's personal comfort. This is the end stage of capitalism with no restraints and no enforcement of those restraints and it's not just America that will suffer this end, it will spread and has spread across the planet.

No joke the very first PragerU video I ever saw like maybe ten years ago was about how the civil war was all about slavery and ending slavery.

I was surprised when the next video was about Democrats being racist
