I saw someone who was like "I never played HK or Silksong but wanted to draw Hornet" and they put her arms outside of her dress and it really bothered me and took all of my self control not to say something about it.

Seems like everyone conveniently wants to draw someone when their game is the current popular thing.

Pretty early on. I've been capped on the silver shard money for ages but keep dying and losing my rosary beads.

That red ant location is brutal

Also - any analog stick players having difficulty getting the dive attack to go the right direction?

Common experiences here, friend. You'll probably be capped on shards most of the time, they're pretty much only used to replace tool ammo when you rest at a bench.

Hunter's March is notably bullshit. Come back later with more abilities and you should have a better time. No one knows why Team Cherry made it the 3rd accessible area when they expect you to have abilities from like area 7 or 8 to complete it. You literally cannot make meaningful progress in it with some movement upgrades.

Down Attack is kind of splitting the fan base with some people being fine with it and a lot of people struggling to get used to it. Fortunately there will be a couple of options to make it easier for platforming later. For one thing, you can eventually swap out the diagonal dive for a straight down pogo style attack. For another, the Hover ability makes it much easier to line up your diagonal dives.

Speaking of Greymoor, I have settled myself on a decent little grinding spot for Rosary Beads/Strings.

The lower trail between the Halfway Home resting bench and the Rosary String vending machine has some enemies that'll get you enough beads to convert every two or so runs. I run between the Halfway Home rest and the Resting spot east of the String vending machine to reset the enemies, and with the Dash power up you can run through that stretch of the map fairly quickly.

Quite safe too. Enemies there aren't super challenging, and if you do somehow mess up and die, your respawn is close by.

https://youtu.be/NzxkaRI-Nzk?feature=shared

Video showing the grind route with some spoilerish mid-game abilities/equipment.

Got my first mask upgrade and honestly it feels like a huge QOL buff. I know its probably not gonna help with bosses at all but for just exploring it changes up the cost/opportunity for healing a lot. Before if I was in a tricky situation where I might take a lot of damage pretty quickly it was either heal when down 2 masks for safety OR risk going down to just 2 masks left and possibly not finding a clean chance to heal without dying in order to not "waste" Silk. Now the choice is pretty straightforward: Wait to heal until down at least 3 masks and have a decent timing to do so. It actually feels great. You've got a really good buffer window between being able to heal efficiently and being in danger of dying (esp with the Fractured Mask crest essentially giving 1 extra hit).

The bird gauntlet isnt as bad as beastfly. Beastfly is just rng motherfucker. Birds in greymoor is annoying but i still think ultimately fair.

With beastfly you can literally get "checkmated" especially you're unlucky and the boss summons minions 3 times in a row.

Just got the Needolin skill and am cleaning up re-exploring areas and clearing side content before moving to what I assume will be the end of Act 1. Starting to compile a list of places I thought Needolin might be useful (spoilers, it hasn't done FUCK ALL yet)

The Dancer statue in Hunter's March: Nope

The Pilgrim Shrine that talks about music in Shellwood: Also nope

The Bell Hermit: He'll sing along with you. You need a full Silk bar or maybe more to hear his full song. He might be slightly friendlier afterwards, but that could just be because I keep visiting him any time I go thru Bellhart

Also learned something interesting. If you die but a DoT effect kills the enemy before you actually respawn it still counts as a win. Was using the Flintstrike tool with the Poplip Pouch to give my Needle Burn and Poison DoTs both vs The second Ant Barbarian above the Bench in Hunter's March and got creamed. It died less than a second after I did and it still counted as clearing the room for getting to the chamber beyond.

To be fair, Dream Nail was far from useless. There were a number of places in the game where being able to gain soul without killing enemies was pretty handy.

Anyway, if you're wondering if the Multibinder Charm in Bellhart is worth the steep cost of almost 900 rosaries, it is probably not. Changes your Bind from a single quick healing burst for 3 masks to a two part charge that takes about 1.5x as long as normal and each part heals 2 masks, for a net 1 extra mask. The fact that it takes longer and if you get interupted halfway thru it heals 1 less mask makes me think it might be situationally useful but not great in a busy fight

So I found a pretty nifty "cheese" strategy for the The Final Judge. Literally just Magma Bell. Turns almost all of the boss's damage down to 1 Mask instead of 2 (sometimes 3). Extremely easy when you do that.

And with that I can finally begin my journey into Act 2. Also, got the fleas to move up. Seems they do indeed have some kind of wait this time around. They won't skip a boss this time.

Also I think I may have missed an item somewhere. I see a ton of people get this like red aura around them when they use their heal. I assume this is some kind of charm, and an early one too based on where I've seen it used, but I have no idea what it is. It seems like it might be super armor during heals? Anyone know what this is and where I need to look for it?

Warding Bell. It's useless don't bother. If you get hit while binding it cancels the heal anyway. You just don't take the damage.

No I mean specifically the wind, darkness, or combination of wind and darkness. Just gotta stop moving every 45 seconds because I can't see and high wind means I can only platform if I'm going left >_>;

Also I keep seeing people talking about going to prison. Does that happen before or after the Last Judge fight? Cuz I feel like I've fully explored everything up to that point but never went to jail

It's a bit useful in that it does damage in a big AoE if you get hit while trying to heal, but yeah it's basically that shell heal from HK1 but with infinite charges.

TIL that if you get hit during your heal attempt you lose ALL of your Silk, not just the amount you need to heal. Idk if it protects against that, but if it does that'd be pretty nice.

Once you get Dash, Float Cloth and Wall Grip, the map is fairly wide open. I'm pushing my exploration as much as I can at different points of the map and I've noticed a couple of little spots here and there that will require another abilitiy, but I'm still getting by pretty freely in whichever way I want to go.

Only obstacle I've ran into that's made me turn back from one or two points is the difficulty spikes of some areas. That damned enemy room in Hunter's March still has my number, lol. I'll get back to it, eventually.

Ok, Last Judge runback is the next bit of cancer I've bumped into since Beast Chapel. I don't mind the Judge fight so far, its literally the walk. Combining Floor Is Double Mask Lava damage with flying, ranged attack enemies who constantly move out of your range is just fucking terrible. The run its self, if done flawlessly, takes maybe 30 seconds but if you slip up one time you might as well just head back to the bench and start over. If you want to get enough Silk to heal its gonna take longer than the walk back to the bench would. This results in it taking 2-3+ minutes to get back to the boss room, mainly because of that one damn fly at the end that doesn't spawn remotely close to open ground. Holy crap this sucks so bad.

EDIT: I will say this. This is the first time I've been glad recovering your cocoon refills your silk as a pre-emptive to a boss rather than as a refill partway into a fight. I'd rather eat glass as fill up my Silk on the way to the Last Judge. Fuck

I haven't had much time to play, but I finally got the dash a little while ago and went back to fight a boss guarding a doorway in which I needed dash, and I'm in the ant area. Died a lot in a combat arena where an NPC helped me out and lost all my beads trying to get back there again one time. I don't think I'm supposed to be here yet since enemies have a ton of health and there are jets of air that I can't use. I suppose I should go back to the lava area to find out where I should be going.

Just did this. Took me like 5 tries and it made me unlock another slot on Reaper and then REALLY work for the kill. I actually liked it, but I can see it being a real sticking point for a lot of people. This game in general feels like it's for people that've completed Godhome, it's crazy how often I'm going "wow this FEELS like fighting PV".

I also did the equivalent to the White Flower quest from HK and holy shit, do NOT attempt to do it without having very good vertical traversal movement options.
