This measure being at the hands of apathetic voters is rather concerning though.

To all those complaining about politicians, more specifically Democrats..... too many voters want 0 accountability for their part in this as well.

Yep. Scotus will be all "California cannot proceed with it's gerrymandering but Texas can for reasons"

Know what would be even better, though? If CA didnt redistrict and all the districts went blue anyway. Wouldnt/wont happen, but it would be awesome if it did.

I'm hoping that Texas slices their Republican majorities a little too slim with their gerrymandering and, without Trump actually on the ballot next year, at least some of those new districts go blue.

What "part in this"? Using their legal right to vote as intended? If you're saying there should be consequences for voting the "wrong" way, then you're against free and fair elections.

Checks and balances are designed for the problem of a president like this and they have failed and need to be redesigned. The problem lies with the government and its design, not with people using their vote however they want as is the intent and their legal right.

If Newsom ends up as the nominee in 2028 and you wouldn't vote for him in a general election, then congratulations, you're part of the problem.

Elections have consequences regardless if you like the 2 candidates or not. Yes, there are consequences in who does and does not get elected.

For example, regardless if you liked Hillary, there was a consequence for her losing. Much of those consequences we are facing right now as we speak. The Supreme Court is one those major consequences in multiple areas frok Roe v Wade, to them giving Trump near unlimited authority.

Same applies to the 2024 election with Kamala. Including the infamous "Vote Kamala, but excuse me while I bash her equally if not more than Trump/MAGA/GOP every chance I get" people. Again, there will be lasting consequences to Trump winning the 2024 election that will take decades to clean up and reverse. Assuming we ever get a chance to reverse all of those damages.

Dont come here crying and complaining about Trump, if you a voter actively participated in actions that directly got him elected in the general election. No excuse in the world you have changes Elections have consequences regardless if you were not madly in love with the Dem candidate.

Whatever the hell you are talking about doesnt magically absolve voters are also accountable in who they vote/dont vote/encourage or discourage to vote for in their participation in helping Trump win in 2016/2024 but crying about what Trump is doing now.

Part of the problem is also the voters and people like you who desperately push apathy that voters should have no accountability in their actions during an election. That we can just election a mythical politician one day who will magically reverse the avalanche of damages the GOP is doing in one election or you are justified in your apathy.

if hillary had won the republicans would not have gotten the seat

sure they may have blocked hillary from filling it but it would have still been empty which would have been far better than what we have now
