I seriously can't believe how quickly he ruined his entire reputation with the roaching shit with wow, and how he keeps doubling down on everything when general consensus is he's wrong

I watched one video of his one time because it was the first real press release for Dune Awakening and that dude had such a bad vibe.

Sure if you think not preserving online only games in some form so that the people who bought them don't get shafted. Also that's a stupid ass take I dislike dramatubers in general but that's still a stupid ass take.

Some people tried to start up a movement that says devs/publishers shouldn't be allowed to "kill" games by cutting off server support, so if a game requires an online component, devs should be legally required to either provide or support a means of allowing the game to go off-line (or potentially run off public servers) once they're no longer willing to personally support it. The argument is generally presented as "game preservation", but it really comes down to most people saying "Fuck you, I want to be able to play games I paid for you corporate fuckers."

He basically crapped all over those people and sucked a lot of corporate cock, so now pretty much everyone hates him and wants him to shut the fuck up, and are generally clowning on him every chance they get.

He doesn't really help his case by being a bit of a jackass about it.

It sucks cause he does animal rescue for ferrets and I really respect anyone who does animal work, but it's clear the guy is otherwise insufferable. Besides the Stop Killing Games drama I've seen other scenarios where he talks up Ashes of Creation as the hypest new MMO but supposedly left his Guild of followers to fend for itself when he got bored of it after making enemies of every other guild on the server. Then there's the allegations of him using a voice changer which is terminal 2000s behavior.

And working at Blizzard has to be a red flag in of itself at this point with how much sexual harassment and stuff went down there, even if that didn't happen when he worked there he was there during the Diablo3 Online-only fiasco, which makes his view on Stop Killing Games make total sense.

Because it's very much a fundamental aspect of human nature that we need a villain.

The moment he essentially became "the face of opposition", it became far easier to signal boost the cause and garner support. You can now point to him and say "This asshole doesn't want you to have games!", and then people go "Man, fuck that asshole! I'm gonna sign a petition now."

Working at Blizz is a red flag because Blizz hasn't pushed anything but dogshit since Legacy, and even that was pretty awful with the whole Super Saiyan Jesus Kerrigan plot arc.

Depends where you're signing them. Change.org? No, you're almost certainly wasting your time.

But the right petition in the right place at the right time with enough support can absolutely influence change, even if only because the people in power feel the need to pander a bit and make a show of acting solely to shut down what they see as a potential growing movement.

A lot of the anti-gambling legislation in the EU started out as people pushing for change. Without the ground-level support, lawmakers would almost certainly have continued to ignore the issue forever because none of them have any real clue what the hell goes on in video gaming.

He aggressively misrepresented the movement out of ignorance causing tonnes of damage to it, and every time he's called out on it he has doubled down rather than admitting he goofed and didn't understand what was being said. Blizzard has been replacing their old games with "remastered" versions that you have to buy again. While they're not destroying the past, they're simply replacing it with modern versions you have to buy again (at a higher cost).
