The subways here have capacitive buttons you can use to get the doors to open at stops. People for some reason angrily mash them to try to get doors to open faster which obviously does nothing. But even worse is that you can activate the button at any time and it'll start blinking to indicate it'll open as soon as it can when the next station is reached. And people will still mash the button, often watching you press it early and pushing past you to pointlessly activate it more. YOU'VE PROBLABLY LIVED IN THIS CITY FOR YEARS HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW THIS WORKS

Much like how the button at the crosswalk usually doesn't do anything

It's just a placebo to give people the illusion of control and to pacify an increasingly impatient world

Piggy backing off this to say that the close door buttons on the elevators at my workplace don't work. You have to press the floor you want again to get the doors to close prematurely and it annoys me when staff jackhammer the close door button. If it's a visitor I understand, but if you have a staff badge I get a little irrationally judge-y.

I think the close buttons are more for if you had been using the open button right before (or blocked the door open)? Regardless, I'm pretty sure regulations for how long they have to stay open mean you can't shorten the minimum time.

Also crosswalk buttons are somewhat counterintuitively much more likely to serve a purpose the less busy a crosswalk is. But in those cases all it really does is signal that there is someone there similar to a sensor for cars, because they just straight up won't activate otherwise. It won't make the light change any faster if a car is waiting at the same intersection.

Yes, fuck this. Half the people at my job do this and it drives me BATSHIT. Except "slowly" is an understatement. They walk everywhere like they're going to their fucking execution. And when I say "excuse me" and try to pass them they look at me like I'm inconveniencing them.

Also, pedestrians and bikers on the wrong side of the road. Pedestrians are supposed to walk against the traffic. Bikers are supposed to ride with the traffic. Yet every day I see at least half a dozen people doing it backwards.

Haha, that's good. I'll defend the word transparent as not fancy or useless, but my last sentence was pretty dumb

To finish the rant, bespoke has zero benefit outside of "I've heard fancy people use this word, therefore using this word will make me sound fancy"

I've been playing Clair Obscur on Game Pass and once I passed 24 hours the XBox app displays my playtime as 1 day and this bugs me so much

Also on How Long to Beat I made a list of games in my backlog and it displays the combined time but uses days, like 5 days 10 hours or whatever. This is so unhelpful just show me hours

Aside from being unhelpful as a unit of measurement here, there's something that feels subtly more shameful about playing a game for "2 days, 2 hours" vs "50 hours"
