One game per franchise is a pretty significant boost for some of these, lol

Live-A-Live correctly on here

Gold/Silver as the Pokmon pick is a pure nostalgia play, they are some of the worst-designed games in the series. (The real answer should probably be B/W or OR/AS, maaaybe I could see an argument for Sun/Moon)

Wrong Golden Sun (and kinda lol for even The Lost Age to be here even with a franchise limit opening spots), Wrong Tales Of (tho at least not Arise), Wrong Trails (the most egregious lol, SC is right there even if it's not my personal pick!), and I'd change FF and Persona too but I can respect those picks.

and xenoblade 3 4 spots too low

also lost odyssey anywhere near such a list no thanks

I dont think the one per series rule is silly btw, its pretty standard in genre lists like these otherwise they just get filled up with games from the most popular series

its more appealing if 11 is Octopath Traveler II than say, The fifth ranked final fantasy or something

Seems alright all things considered. Chrono Trigger is #1 with a good #2 and #3 to back it up. Certainly some odd picks within franchises though; feels like they chose newer games a lot of the time even when the newer game is more sketchy but then choose FC over SC for Trails.

If I'm making a list like this, I'm 100% putting Trails in the Sky FC over SC even though I only rank FC in the middle of the series overall and have SC at the top. They're basically the same game anyways, and it's really not worth the gymnastics required to say "this is the 10th best JRPG of all time, BUT it's a direct plot sequel and none of you should actually play it but instead start with this other game not even on the list".

yeah the idea is to get people to like the depth of the genre and putting like six or so of a franchise weakens that significantly which is basically how the advertising of IGN works

like yes you could make a top fighting game list where the top 3 is Street Fighter and its probably objectively correct, but its not pleasing to read and leaves off any hidden gems that fans of the genre could pick up on

These 1 title per franchise list always suck. The thing is when you post the best of something you can't limit yourself like this because it isn't fair. So what if a series keeps producing amazing games? They are amazing so add them there!
This is like trying to do a top 11 football players now but putting only 1 guy per different team. It doesn't make sense.

In any event, I have nothing to say about the list. It's a list. It has JRPGs on it. It doesn't have any pathetically awful choices on it like Sword of Hope or something.
