Wii u flopped so hard. I was at bestbuy opening day to pickup my pre order and even the people at best buy had no clue wtf it was. They thought it was an add-on and not an entirely new system. I was the only idiot to walk in when the doors opened to pick it up ... Copied to Clipboard!

Mario Kart 8 (released on the Wii U) became Mario Kart Deluxe (on the Switch, which is just MK8 with built-in DLC). Is that what you meant? But yeah, no clue what the TC is talking about. --- PotD's resident Film Expert. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Roachmeat posted... Mario Kart deluxe has become Mario Kart world, among other things. That's about as true as saying that Mario Kart 7 became Mario Kart 8. Arguably even less so, since it's looking like World is doing a lot more to add new mechanics than any previous title in the series (which it kind of has to given that it's competing with the behemoth that is 8 Deluxe with all of its DLC). Roachmeat posted... I want to guess that the topic creator is alluding to the Switch 2 getting a lot of ports from the Switch but just updated and shined up. That wasn't true for the WiiU, though. By and large, it didn't get many games ported from the Wii, at least not early in its lifetime. WiiU to Switch was where you saw all the ports happening, given that it took the Switch less than a year to beat the WiiU's lifetime sales. It's also not particularly true of the Switch 2. Any third-party ports it's seeing are just games that are being released on all current systems (which is very different from the WiiU because it just didn't get games that other systems got). First-party, they've only announced four existing games so far that are getting a Switch 2 Edition upgrade option, and just one upcoming one (Metroid) that will have both a Switch and a Switch 2 edition. --- This is my signature. Everything from the last entry, but connected tracks now. Again, how is that any different from going from MK7 to 8? Mario Kart has pretty much always been "same core game as the previous entry, just polish up the graphics as able, add a bunch of new courses, and throw in some new mechanics." Heck, that's most sequels in most series. Very few games start from scratch or change their art style radically when there are previous entries in a series to draw inspiration from, outside of major paradigm shifts in hardware (like SMW to SM64, but we're probably never going to see jumps like that again). --- This is my signature.
