Oh yeah, it's a thing. I forget if we went down this rabbit hole years ago or not but it is absolutely a thing driving alt-right techbros.

Basically some 15-20 years ago this guy named Curtis Yarvin wrote under a pen name describing, essentially, that democracy is incompatible with freedom and therefore democracy has to go and it will be replaced with a Silicon Valley-style tech fascism - where basically the federal government is torn down and "rebuilt" here the President is basically a ceremonial position that acts as a "chairman of the board" and will hire a "CEO" to do the actual day-to-day governing and control of the federal government - ignoring oversight or restraint by Congress or the courts.

It's basically late-stage capitalism in its final form - but as expressed by people who are like "this is actually the desired goal and anything and everything that impedes it must be ripped out and destroyed."

People like Thiel, Musk, etc. are adherents to it and the current situation where Musk is basically acting as the "real" President while Trump sits at his desk and is told off by Musk's kid is like... a comically on the nose warning siren. Hell, even the mass firing of federal employees is part of the plan.

I'm not doing a great job of explaining this here because honestly it's some deeply depressing and demoralizing shit (which is also by design - to wear out the opposition) and I'm sure there are better explainers out there. It's essentially a desire and drive to return to kings, monarchy, and city-states with a corporate paint job ("CEO" instead of "king", "gov-corps" instead of "city-states," etc.) and incorporates use of accelerationism by helping get there faster by causing crises to break down the existing social order so they can built up their fantasy.

Trump admits he doesnt know why Elon Musk met with Indias Modibut claims the DOGE boss is on a leash

President Trump said he is personally keeping an eye on Elon Musks conflicts of interest between his private interests at companies like Space X and Tesla, and DOGE. The Commander-in-Chief then said he didnt know if Musk had met Indias Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, as a private citizen or special government employee.

Certainly not, but the bad faith interpretation supports the status quo of the medical industrial complex. If they can make you defend the status quo so easily like this, then you've lost.
I have not seen any evidence that the status quo wrt things like "more kids are being diagnosed with autism now than in 1980" is actually bad.

The main problems with health care right now are that it's expensive and inaccessible, not that people actually get too much of it.

Was gonna ask to this, what is the rate of chronic med prescription in the US vs healthier countries? It's not about overdiagnosis, but about overprescription which makes Americans financially chained to the medical industrial complex.

The MIC is a horribly inefficient system that devours all money injected into it, regardless of the health benefit to the people. To say the only issue is to say that the healthcare barons need to be richer with a system that is even more inefficient.

First the system needs to be made at least as efficient as healthy countries, THEN we can address the financial injustice. All efforts to do it the other way around have failed miserably. (Although according to the barons, they have greatly succeeded.)

No idea, but it's not as simple as a 1:1 comparison. For example, workers might have less protections and less time off in America, leading to more injuries, leading to higher rates of chronic pain, leading to more painkillers being prescribed. In theory this EO would address exactly this scenario, but given who's running the government right now it's more likely they'll just put more limits on how much pain medication can be prescribed.

To be clear I do agree with your general points but if you think the Trump administration is the group to tackle this you're just plain not paying attention to American politics.

Apologies for the Fox News link but it's where I came across this.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/doge-scores-big-court-win-allowed-access-data-3-federal-agencies

DOGE is being allowed access to Labor, HHS, and CFPB records.

The judge says DOGE is an "agency" therefore it's allowed under the Economy Act (I know nothing about what that is.). At the same time, the judge acknowledges "that the government did not want DOGE to be considered an agency for purposes of another federal law, which would subject it to open records requests."

Just fucking great! The courts will not save us.

Yeah, firing every probationary employee (and not just at the FAA) is going to have major effects years down the line when there's literally no one ready to step up into higher level roles. No new blood and institutional knowledge eventually goes away in some form or another. I'd say it's enormously short sighted but this administration is doing it on purpose.

Did that groundbreaking biomedical engineering project not end up further enriching Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson&Johnson, the exact kind of medical barons you were complaining about? And the way the Trump administration handled it turned like half the country against vaccines, which is what I'm complaining about.

(Also Trump is one of the most predictable politicians on the planet, we should all be able to predict him pretty easily)

Yes, but in that case the riches seemed reasonable given the value. If medical companies got rich from providing value, like what's expected of every other company, then that's good and fine. We do actually need scientists to develop medicine and provide services that make our lives better. What we don't need is the MIC exploiting that for 100x profit and holding people's health hostage in the process.

But if you are so confident in predicting this administration then great, you'll do fine.
