please stop posting random nothing bills

that one in particular I'd assume was done as a joke by even the dumbest Rep!

here's the thing though, even if it never has a chance to pass we are paying these ding dongs $200k a year + insider trading opportunities to both do nothing and to actively waste taxpayer time and money.

It's malicious incompetence.

What a joke, ~6 inches of snow fell in the DC area overnight and this is the guidance from OPM:

Status: Open - Suggesting 2 Hour Delayed Arrival - With Option for Unscheduled Leave or Unscheduled Telework. Given critical work being done across the federal government, please consult with your agency for final guidance.

There is zero point in the past when this wouldn't have been "Closed" or "Closed - With option of Unscheduled Leave or Unshceduled Telework". Instead, they kick the can to individual agencies, meaning confusion this morning for many, along with (tens of) thousands of cars on the roads in slick conditions for maximal pain. Absolutely asinine.

That requires that people care about that AND have memories long enough for it to matter, both of which are proven false time and time again.

It is actually a good thing that a party falls in line to win an election, including 3rd parties. It means they care about winning, which is the most important thing to American voters. If the candidates really are equally bad (like Hillary vs Trump) then it would lose credibility to side with strongly with one of them, but that wasn't the case here.

View it from AOC and Bernies perspective. Biden gave the party left significant concessions Hillary did not and Harris would not. Sure enough Harris positioned herself to the right of Biden on most issues. If you have a sympathetic incumbent you dont want to rock the boat too much. As a tactical decision in the moment it made perfect sense.

Oh well.

That is shit VOTERS want. Understand that while you are right that the Dems are very moderate and lack clear vision in REALITY, the majority of this country buys into the PERCEPTION that the Dems are much farther to the left and "extreme" in that leftness. So the electorate IS voting against the Democrats because the Dems aren't giving them what they want...just not in the direction you think they are.

That's the thing: you TRY to do some semblance of research to understand why the country is the way it is right now, and you are MORE informed than the vast majority of Americans. I would hope that most of us in this topic series TRY to be more informed...but most Americans aren't putting any real level of effort into following politics. There might be brief blips when something big happens, but ultimately, it comes down to "Is the economy good, and who is in-charge right now?"

As an example...for a lot of people, yeah, the concept of universal healthcare sounds amazing. Free healthcare for everyone is an easy sell...until you put ANY detail into it. At that point the mindset shifts to "Well I'm not sick right NOW, so I personally do not NEED free healthcare, and I don't want to pay higher taxes so someone who doesn't DESERVE free healthcare gets it." The same goes for student loan forgiveness; it's objectively good for the economy, and if you've done ANY research whatsoever, you would know that college debt is FAR different than it was for Boomers and Gen Xers...but at the same time, "Why should they get something for free? They should have to work for it just like I did. And don't major in History of Dance or Obscure English Authors; get a real, useful major!"

And Gaza is still ongoing just in a ceasefire. Also the broader Afghanistan conflict since the 1970s continues what has changed is now theres a gender apartheid regime in charge. Also he had very little to do with Syria.

You can thank Turkey and Ukraine for that last one, though the civil war continues despite the overthrow of Assad. Definitely better now, but not thanks to anything Biden did.
