Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is facing strong headwinds including opposition from House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) as she tries to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

Connolly, 74, and Ocasio-Cortez, 35, are facing off to replace current Oversight Committee ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.).

I think AOC would be great in this role, but the 84-year old Nancy Pelosi thinks the 74-year old Gerry Connolly is a better fit. Can't have new blood taking positions of prestige and power from the old guard, I guess.

IIRC she was recently lionized as being one of the key voices to convince Biden to drop out. Which worked out...great?

In the social sense, yes. Once economic issues get involved, it's a lot more complicated. We see the same thing in NYC, where we have this reputation as being some ultra-liberal city, yet we don't actually move on leftist economic policies like affordable housing.
