BNW trailer really ramping up the intrigue... don't like that they showed red hulk identity, something I already knew but figure that non-comics-readers wouldn't? Feels like it would be a big deal in the movie so bigger deal to reveal in trailer...

My prediction is Taskmaster gets torn apart by Bob early on.

This is actually funny because the comics spent over a year hiding the identity of Red Hulk to an annoying degree on his debut.

I think I am digging both of those, but I still haven't even watched AAA or D+W

So okay, here's my take on Thunderbolts (from proud Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts Asterisk hater), and it's that this movie is nothing new for the MCU. It's a mix of Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. They just quip at each other like any Avengers and Guardians movie did, and they're a team of misfits who quibble at each other like Guardians. This is just the same thing in a tired, overdone package that isn't nearly as interesting at a new Avengers movie would be, or feeling as interesting as any Guardians movie would be. It's just assorted gun and punch men and women who can't get along well and cracking wise at each other, and they're going to somehow find a way to beat the ultra powerful Bob.

I've talked about it to death, but the fact they didn't bother going with the classic Thunderbolts, with villains masquerading as heroes in the MCU, a fresh idea, where we could flesh out a lot of these villains and broaden the MCU in a more interesting way, just sucks. I'm so anti-hype for this and it feels so uninspired and won't be as fun as any team up movie they've done before this.

Yeah it's Marvel Suicide Squad without any of the teeth of Suicide Squad and built like a discount Avengers or Guardians dialogue. Even something based on Secret Avengers would be more interesting than this. This is just punch and shoot men quipping like interchangeable Avengers characters and bickering like Guardians characters.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't really anything special for an MCU movie in terms of story and characters even when it came out. In terms of aesthetic, subject matter, and (maybe?) tone it was such a drastic shift from the norm it seemed fresh.

Tbh when I saw the first Guardians movie in a theater I was not even aware it was part of the MCU.

Unfortunately we can't expect much more from Disney. They love riding a formula into the ground.

I'll still probably enjoy Thunderbolts* for what it is. But I do agree it would have been a lot better if it was an actual group of villains and not just... a bunch of generic powered individuals. Granted they don't really have many good villains to pull from.

Still I wouldn't have minded them using some multiverse shenanigans to bring back characters like Killmonger. He would be perfect for a team like this.

Never got all the hate/dislike for What If. Thats a top tier MCU series for me.

Eh, I think a lot of What If episodes are kinda dumb or boring personally. I haven't seen anything past season 1 though. I haven't seen season 2 of that or Loki yet.

The idea of What If is highly intriguing, but I feel like it's ultimately a prime example of wasted potential.

Okay as someone who thought there was no real need for an Agatha series and thought "who is this for?"

...that is some of the best Marvel in a while. The Tarot episode is the best thing post-Endgame and Aubrey Plaza kills it.

I've never understood this take. She's in 5 of 18 episodes! That's not that much.

It's a lot for a show whose entire concept is that each episode is a self contained story

But the bigger problem was that the episodes she appears in become entirely about her. Like the Marvel 1602 episode put all the 1602 stuff in the background to focus on her randomly being there

I think What if... should just be stand alone episodes. It doesn't need to build to a big crossover finale. Just let each episode be it's own completely separate thing.

See I completely disagree with this and think it would be even more forgotten have zero popularity if it did that. It weaving in a constant plot is what made it actually interesting and has had me excited and looking forward to that continuing plot for seasons two and now three.

Forcing the series itself to regard its own continuity when the weight of that job should fall to the preexisting continuity turns What If into... virtually every other Marvel project.

This. I'm coming at it as a comic fan who always loved What If and was exceedingly hyped for it originally. What If stories spinning off the MCU? Great, awesome, yes please. The second it turned into a team-up I knew it wasn't going to work. I don't want to see these characters get together to defeat a bigger threat. I'm not opposed to revisiting them; doing another Captain Carter episode after she's sent to the future and leads the Avengers would be great. I just don't want to see her high-fiving Star-Lord T'Challa.

To that point, I'm very excited to see Marvel Zombies spinning off from What If's episode. Delving deeper into the alternate worlds sounds like a great idea; continuing to skim their surface with this half-assed "What if the Avengers were... just slapped with a different coat of paint?" and creates almost no difference tonality from the main MCU misses the mark completely.

Yeah, this was how I felt about things like Star-Lord T'Challa episode. Like he has a different squad of Ravagers and then fights The Collector.

It's just some kind of other misadventure that's barely different than something Star-Lord Peter Quill would get up to.

It feels like they came up with an idea like "What if Star-Lord was T'Challa instead!?" And then they struggled to come up with a story after, when it should be "If Star-Lord was T'Challa then this huge change would happen."

Not all episodes are like that, but enough of them feel like that where it's not even interesting.

They massively reduced the impact of the worst part of Loki S1.
They introduced a stellar new character, and the supporting cast was mostly on-point.
Loki felt like his character made more sense this time around.

Loki s2 just has the peak marvel ending of all time for me

although there's been a lot of great emotional bonding between the cast throughout and I love the timey-wimey shit

and yeah, OB

I saw Deadpool & Wolverine. It was amazing and made me feel like an excited kid again watch back when X-Men came out. That was just pure joy to watch.

I'm more curious what you didn't like.

I made a post about it earlier, basically saying time travel makes it difficult to connect with anything that happens since it'll likely all be undone in the end (which it was).

What I liked most about the season is also what disappointed me greatly, which is Kang. Since this is the last we'll see of him, and it's just an immense shame that Jonathan Majors couldn't keep his act together. Unfortunately he's still a fantastic actor and it would've been so fun to see him play all these different versions of Kang. But oh well, consequences and such.

I'm predicting that if I ever get around to rewatching the series, there's a high chance I'll enjoy it more. Although that probably won't be for years.

Also more creative settings/costumes woulda been nice. Instead of drab suits and office buildings (nitpicking yes).
