I only know the Hood from Marvel Snap and he makes a demon

I started watching Daredevil S1 in preparation for Born Again. I'm two episodes in and it's been pretty great so far. The fight scenes are cool and I like how he's just broken and injured all the time instead of being this overpowered superhero.

Most of my experience with him comes from New Avengers as the leader of every D-List villain who wields pistols, demon style. And he has a great costume.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your point about a duck and a human having a child. That is perfectly in keeping with the 80s masterpiece that is Howard the Duck. But I will absolutely agree with you about villain redemption arcs. That was such knuckle-headed writing.

That being said, I'm very much looking forward to a return to the Marvel Zombies Earth.

The live action movies were cool when they were going to be unique takes and not shot for shot bad remakes.

The original concepts for the live action movies were not meant to be exact "how they got there" but just unique takes on villain characters from their PoV in an adjacent but different universe from the animated films. They were at the very least allowed to be creative. But audiences bitch and Disney decided to just take safe money by turning the concepts into shot for shot remakes with added songs that suck and are out of place compared to the original animation with bloated runtimes.

Yeah Cruella absolutely was not a sympathetic origin story. In fact, its not an origin story at all. Its a totally different alternate take on the character. It is easily the best of those live action films post-Jungle Book and Petes Dragon because its actually its own thing not just a rehash. You can really tell who has not watched it lol. Would actually recommend it though.

Also its win for costumes is one of the most deserving oscar wins of the current decade.

The Jedi not being a perfect infallible order is much more interesting and you can't change my mind. Also the Acolyte is so not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. A season 2 could have been a huge improvement but not one even gave it a chance.

The Jedi being flawed is fine

But like the dichotomy in Star Wars is crystal clear

Jedi is Light and Sith is Dark, and there's no real ambiguity as to what that's meant to represent

The Acolyte found its ground in the last couple episodes but it marketed itself as something different and was trying to court demographics that didn't really exist in star wars fandom so they didn't really tune in.

Why you don't just make an original character instead, I don't know (obviously the cash in on name value though). But you can't be upset people don't care about a movie based on the puppy slaughterer, because who in the world asked for it?

No one asked for Maleficent either. It still has more creative value than crap like The Lion King remake.

Finished the first season of Daredevil, I'm sad I didn't watch this when it first came out. Completely different tone from the Disney+ era shows and I'm enjoying it a lot.

There's no way I'm getting through the other two seasons before Born Again comes out tomorrow. Probably gonna have to just try to dodge spoilers as much as I can while I catch up. Anyone know if I'll need to watch the other Netflix series? I know Daredevil is in The Defenders but I'm wondering if I also need to watch the other ones like Jessica Jones and whatever.

Started Jessica Jones, like it so far. I get the feeling Carrie Anne-Moss was cast as a nod to Memento.

I mean, there's a bunch of story beats in Defenders for the other characters, but I'd say it's primarily Daredevil centric. There's a lot of important Daredevil developments in that one that it's ideal to watch before Season 3. I can seriously only remember one major thing about Iron Fist and one thing from Luke Cage that is important that happens in Defenders. I don't know if I'm just forgetting some things though.

So should I just watch everything then? It's a lot but I guess I could work my way through them.

Fortunately if you go that route, you only need to watch season 1 of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. You can go back and watch the rest of the seasons after Born Again if you wanted.

Alright, so release order up until The Defenders and then Daredevil S3. Born Again after that and then the rest afterwards if I want to.

Honestly, feel free to skip Luke Cage and Iron Fist too.

DAREDEVIL IS BACK (edit: realized i missed the easy 'born again' pun there, eh...)

Currently early in episode one and had to pause it because when i saw that fly get killed I literally shouted out loud FUCK YEAH BULLSEYE IMMEDIATELY ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! possibly my favourite character from original series if not solid #2 behind Kingpin

I'll get there soon. Just finished The Defenders and I liked it. It was really fun seeing all the different characters meet up and interact. And they did a pretty good job of making it feel like that character's show does for scenes just featuring that character. Although I will also admit it gave me more Iron Fist vibes overall than Daredevil vibes.

I just need to say, after the first first, this is everything I wanted Bullseye to be. He's always been my favorite Marvel villain and he's perfect. Just casually causing utter mayhem and doing trick shots and it's incredible. He's the right amount of a psychopath as well. I can't wait to see what all he gets up to in this season.

Other than that, I think it's been great. It had a lot of the deeper superhero conversations I loved from the originals and it does feel like a faithful continuation. It does have some clear MCU influence at points but ultimately I think it's been great and I'm really excited for the rest of it.

Given the tone it's set from the first episode (haven't watched the second yet), it's hard to picture She-Hulk appearing, but I still hope she does.

Daredevil rules so far. Damn, that scene in the diner in episode 1 was amazing. Loved the dialogue

My favorite moment so far.

Daredevil screaming why at Bullseye repeatedly after his best friend dies and Bullseye just laughs and pats him in the shoulder. And Daredevil just snaps and throws him off the roof. Completely perfect. Bullseye is diabolical, irredeemable, and thinks he's the most clever guy. I hope we see more of him soon because this is everything I hoped for with a Bullseye adaptation.
