Match 1 is between my second and third favorite retirees, so youd think itd be close. Its not close. Out of all the retirees, Crumble Soul is the one that my opinion of has increased the most since round 1. Back then I was mainly into the 2 major vocal sections, while now I feel like I better appreciate how well the song builds up too and comes down from them. And my love for those vocal sections has grown even more. I transcribed the syllables from 2:23-2:57, my favorite part of the song, for anyone else who wants to sing along. This is by ear, so may not be 100% accurate.

RATS REVIVAL: A double meaning of the LAST WORLD being the place where the rat finally comes back to life (I assume so anyway, I havent played Mad Rat Dead, but itd be a real downer if the rat stayed dead at the end wouldnt it?) and this being the rats return to the contest after a year off. hb had a similar idea with RODENTS RETURN, I went with the word revival because that more specifically refers to returning from the dead, and rat because rat.
HiTECH ALIENATION: While this song has no official Bemani genre, several of lapixs other songs have genres with HiTECH in the name, which solidified my interpretation of this song as representing the struggle to hold onto humanity in a world where technology seems to be artificializing everything. You can think of it as the opposing outlook to The Blue Sanctuary, whose genre name opposes this one (which is not something I planned, it just worked out like that).
SPANISH SEPTIC SPRITE: I saw UF8s FAIRY TOXIC GERMAN and thought Huh? Why German? The song sounds Spanish, not German. The name came together quickly after that.
REVELROUS DIN: Another case of me using a word that means bad sound, but this time its meant to contrast against the positive adjective revelrous. Theres a similar contrast going on in the song itself with its use of harsh-sounding synths for an energetic melody, which makes me imagine a scene of warriors celebrating the chaos of the battlefield as they carve a bloody swath through their enemies.

I caught myself relistening to Crumble Soul a lot today. Like, a LOT. I feel incredibly tempted to boost its ranking to have it on par with MAD LAST WORLD and Warcry; those vocals are really resonating with me today for some reason.

I think if Match 1 happened at the start of the contest, it would've been more handily Mad Lost World, but because Crumble Soul's grown a lot on me since then, it's really close.
