Oof. Well, time to strip it from the wishlist.

Shame, I saw it released overnight and was curious about it. Really liked 5.

Epic: "Hey you know that thing that Sony did with Helldivers 2 that was so unpopular they had to immediately undo it? LET'S DO IT OURSELVES!"

Okay but how is the actual game itself?'
I assume a lot of those negative reviews are related to Epic Account Requirement for multiplayer.
Does the game itself also suck or is the gameplay better than 3/4/5?

I glanced over the reviews earlier. The couple I saw that had extra information mentioned that the gameplay is improved from older ones some, but there's huge performance issues (even in high end rigs) and the tutorial aspects are bad. 16 missions of tutorial that don't even account for mechanics unique to classes.

Don't care. Love every game in the series, and after looking uo why it goes through Epic servers, I don't blame them one bit. They didn't have the in house backend needed for PS4 - PS5 cross play, because their network just isn't set up for it. So they went with Epics online services.

Will be playing the ever loving hell out of this game the same way I did 5.

You shouldn't have to make an account with another service just to play a game. Didn't they see the Helldivers 2 backlash?

It looks like they hid the fact that a 3rd party account was needed to play until after launch, nothing was on the Steam page about it until just a few hours ago. Pretty sketchy.

Sounds like a Helldivers 2.0 style fiasco.

I only been playing for around a day at this point and so still didn't make it too far, but honestly the game still feels fun as the series usually is.

The PS5 version has this 4K performance mode I've been playing on and I didn't notice any drops so far (I've also got a samsung QN90B that has full HDMI 2.1 support so vrr is enabled). I'll have to wait and see when the enemy swarms really start kicking in.

There is slight improvements to the character and enemy models, and same goes for the special effects lol. Its not too much (even more so since a PS4 version is a thing and thus that one was probably prioritized as the baseline).

Yeah its shitty that they didnt have it on the store page before launch but at least in this case the game just came out so anyone who cares can easily get a refund.

From the sound of things they're going to try and remove the Epic account requirement. They have no timetable on when it will happen.

EDF is pretty fun, I've played 3 of them and own 2 of them.

Doesn't really bother me because I already use Epic (very rarely and mostly for their free games). Sniper Elite 5 does the same thing but in an unobtrusive way, people were annoyed about it but never review bombed it. I just want to know if EDF6 is fun or not, I love 4.1 and 5 and am always up for more edf.

It's a blast. Me and my friend are running through it after tons of playtime on 5...A lot of little quality improvements. A few new janks, but man it's just more of the same great fun. Loving the changes to Air Raider weapons.

Recommend playing on Hard from the start. Just like EDF 5, Hard is pretty balanced with a nice challenge.

ill probably play on normal and then easy if it gets too hard. i played 5 solo on normal and after a hundred missions, it just got too crazy and the missions are way too long to do them again from the beginning so i just dropped the difficulty down.

Oh, a huge QoL change from 5.. Beating a mission on a difficulty also counts it as beaten on all easier difficulties.

No more of that nonsense of having to beat a mission on Easy after you've beaten it on Hard just for the medal.

I won't be getting the game till I get a better computer most likely. So hopefully the Epic account thing is removed by then.
