THJ's contract being expiring probably puts it outside of 1st round pick value, but since it is expiring we can trade him at the deadline to a team that wants cap space going into the off season

who is the player available then besides paul george? and it doesn't seem like he wanted to go there so what else are you going to do. They can always trade into that cap space later right?

Will have to see what we do with the rest of the cap space but slotting in KCP for Harris isn't going to change how teams defend us at all. And it won't change what caused us to be eliminated in the playoffs

We still have 30m+ in cap space but we don't have a starting spot available now. We could throw Hartenstein money and move WCJ to the bench which is a talent improvement on paper but again exasperates the offense issue.

We also don't really have the roster spots to sign elite bench role players either (not really many available anyway). So we basically have to make a trade. We could trade for any salary easily with picks and players but I just don't know what is feasibly available.

This is also why I wanted us to trade for Dejounte Murray. The cost was low, we could have taken him into cap space and he ticked a lot of the boxes we were missing. The only thing I can think of was he wasn't a culture fit or Hawks didn't want to send him within division

really sad that kawhi/paul george never made any noise. philly will be scary when healthy next year. think they're very obviously the second best team in the east with the bucks so quiet and mostly cooked

we also resigned Isiaah Joe and Aaron Wiggins to new 4/5 year contracts for roughly 20M together per year

also the reason we were able to offer so much was trading for Haywards expiring contract, so while he obviously did not pan out for us on the court, it was still worth it to open up the cap room

Going to assume we are done for the offseason, but now have several nice tradeable contracts to go along with our picks if we need to make a move over the next few seasons (and essentially owning the Clippers next 3 first round picks is looking better and better)

Absolutely not. That contract is horrendous

I legit don't know who is out there for the Magic right now. Someone is going to get an hilarious 1+1 probably so we don't lose out on the cap space since once the extensions kick in next year it will disappear

I guess the argument for going for it now is that Suggs and Franz are due for raises next year, and then Banchero the year after that, so there's a little window this year where they've got their costs pretty well controlled.

I don't think I'm swayed by that argument if I'm a Magic fan, but maybe I'm just not plugged in enough.

Basically that. There was a very small window where we had a ton of cap space and a team that is good. Now that cap space has vanished. We will likely give someone a big 1+1 to try preserve the salary for trade purposes.

There was no downside to pushing now because we weren't sacrificing anything to do so.

I don't think it's DeRozan we go for. It's going to have to be some high end bench player that gets overpaid because our 5 is pretty set
