just like when he confirmed Silksong was coming to the Xbox Showcase last week, before taking it back a couple days later?

can we not remaster? can they just unmaster it and port the original ps1 disc to PSN?

Is it JUST a remaster, or an actual remake? I love the original, but after this long I feel if theyre going to return to this well the job and battle systems could use an overhaul.

Theoretically they could cancel the FFT remaster, but if Schreier says it exists right now then I'd say it exists right now.

God I hope it's the latter because a lot of those systems do not hold up.

I mean, it was in the Nvidia leak years ago, so it's definitely real. We just don't know when it's coming, or if it'll get canceled at some point.

It'll almost certainly have the War of the Lions translation, but I guess I can tolerate it

Ideally the remaster would redo the lines and knock it down from purple prose to more of a mauve, maybe lilac...

I would love a voiced FFT but that's probably too much for a remaster.

Well if it's just a remaster there's no need for me to get it anyway, I'd only consider if it was a grounds up remake that overhauled the last act of the story.

PSP translation with VA would be best timeline

Honestly just rerelease the PSP game without the slowdown and adding back the spell quotes.

I don't believe for a second that's what happened with Silksong.

Like maybe Jason was lied to, but there was never a party.

The original DOES hold up but I am hoping for a full remake. I've replayed og FFT and various mods/remakes a million times and would be a lot more excited to see something experimental. FF4DS is a huge improvement and a lot of people say FF7 is too, so yeah give me remakes

If anything, old English fantasy text tends to sound better with voice acting.

I should play FFT at some point, since I like 90s Square and Fire Emblem a ton. I just remember going through the tutorials and being completely overwhelmed by the info and just stopped. I also played the PSP translation and that was the period of time where faux Shakespeareian language was the way to go. I never liked that.

I'd take a port at this point.

Normally I'd agree but WotL's prose might be a little too purple

this isn't surprising considering they brought LUCT to PC in a remake and revamped the system heavily - Valkyries rocked and Archers were mediocre.

Back at PAX, my (wonderful) colleague, Gabrielle, was gearing up for an interview with Yoshida, Koji Fox, and Kujiraoka. I should note that it's 100% Gabrielle who conducted this interview! She did great! But one of the questions I jotted down for her to ask about was the possibility of doing another Final Fantasy Tactics eventually.

Here's what Yoshi-P had to say. I just find it kinda funny, seeing as Schreier has also noted that it's BD3 (CBU3) backing up this FFT remaster project.

"But the series does lend itself well to that kind of storytelling, and we love Tactics as well. Its probably about time that we do a new one.

Gonna be brutally honest, I used to love FFT but playing Fire Emblem killed my enthusiasm for the series.

FE is like an actual game that requires tactics, FFT plays like a normal RPG where the turns take longer because you're moving your character around. That's not to say there aren't good things about it, but I'm just not into the gameplay anymore. I much prefer FE and games that reward positioning and matchups more.

I basically went through the same path.

I replayed FFT again shortly after doing an FE marathon, and....aesthetically, vibes, music, story, all that is incredible. Mechanically....it's got some cracks. The JP system and skill spread is definitely where it suffers the most, and in same breath the higher job unlocks are just nonsensical from a time investment standpoint. It's a game that wants you to do more random battles than story battles, even though random battles just aren't fun and take way too long.

A remaster that overhauls the job system, speeds up the battles, and keeps everything else the same with touchups is all I really need.

Maybe if it lets you run from random battles. That monk fight broke me.

EDIT: Autosave would be nice, too.

I would love this. Just talking about it with my husband the other day.

But I want the original playstation job system, not the PSP one. The skills were better balanced cost wise and charge time wise in the playstation version. The PSP version made everything cost more job points (I know it was that way in the Japanese Play station version, but that didn't mean it was balanced)
