Two of Braves Menu The Phantom World Two of Braves isn't my fave MMBN song but pretty much every MMBN song is really good - I just love this franchise's sound to death. Not much more I could say about it. 9/10 Megalomaniac is cool in a weird way, though it grates on me after a bit. 7/10 Fixytext Menu is one of the weirder and more interesting pulls for this contest. It's a fun little soundscape. 7/10 The Fox's Lair is fine. 6.5/10 I did not like Blissade/Egregori. Grating. 3/10 I was expecting to like Phantom World more than I did. Just kinda empty. 5/10 ... Two of Braves Menu The Phantom World Why is Lan offering me a dubious brand of soda? Anyways, uh... I think this song could do more, but with its short runtime it brings a pretty good melody and it feels climatic. I'm unsure if I like the channels or I find them inferior... Yeah, it's short and sweet! Nice job. I've started to warm up to Garegga these past months, so I go into this with a good feeling. The instruments here are... certainly a choice! The trumpets stand as a positive for me, though, and the bass is pretty funky. Otherwise, I don't favor much the rest, but I'm betting it follows a style. They kind of zone me out from the song. I'm not really that much into the melody except for what the aforementioned things do, but it's a okay song in total. I find both songs a bit weak, but I think I'll be brave and pick Brave. As a fan of these soundtracks, it was long overdue for Jackbox to get more artistic music like this. I can appreciate what it's going for, putting all my overwhelming bias aside. It is pretty slow, but the beat reappears on time and it gets a little catchy, and the atmosphere resembling electronic works is constant. I also like the changes it does towards the end, but the initial minutes are definitely my favorite. i just think its neat :) Ohh, Lair is really good. Pretty upbeat and somewhat danceable, I like what the synths and piano are doing, but everything on the surroundings also works. This song makes me think of a beach at night level rather than a lair, the tone just sounds so right, a formidable song here. It makes the choice a little harder, but Menu is my jam. Oh god, are the strings and guitar at the intro desynced? I have the impression they're desynced and now I can't unhear it as the song runs (it's a weird execution anyways). The vocal module is kinda charming, it makes me imagine it as a Splatoon song and it's memorable. Nice guitar solo! I think it's a song that stands out fairly, but that intro is gonna start haunting me, hoohoo. From Blissade we go to Phantom World. You are correct, I'm an angklung enjoyer. This right here has to be one of the best world map themes ever. The melody is pretty memorable and the instruments taking turns on the front works well, considering they're so varied and unusual. The loop beat is also kinda funny, but I think it integrates well. It feels like a unique song that makes you absorb the colorful landscape and takes you for a breath while you choose your next stage, and that is a great goal for a world map theme. Two of Braves Menu Blissade/Egregori I haven't been posting my writeups for the songs that were nominated for my ranking and also got into VGMC, but here's my writeup for FixyText Menu, which nabbed an 8/10 and 43rd place (out of 300): For a nine-minute-long ambient song, I dont really have a lot to say about this one. Some of the long stretches dont hold my interest as much, but then there are parts that are achingly beautiful; those are the parts stick out to me and justify the songs high placement. The song is pretty minimalist, with glitchy bits like stuttering and overly held notes. As with Torvus Bog, this is a great song to put on in the background and let your mind wander. This section of Bracket C is weird. The songs in this fourpack - FixyText Menu, Blissade/Egregori, and The Phantom World - are all super close for me, particularly the third match, but I'd take any of Prontera Field/Snowfield/Sword of the Surviving Guardian/Challenge over all of them. (Though they all clear The Merciless Savior.) ... Copied to Clipboard!

Two of Braves The Fox's Lair The Phantom World Sick music from Mega Man, easily one of my new favorites so far. I want to like the Battle Garegga song more - it feels a lot like the first boss theme from Klonoa - but the melody is messy in a few pivotal areas that makes the whole thing not stick the landing. I'd be a lot more into Fixytext Menu if it started slow like it already does, but it began to add more layers to it as time passes. It looks to have a generous amount of runtime to explore and experiment with ideas, but it sadly doesn't take that chance. Fox's Lair is so good, I'd definitely think it was a LaTale song before anything else. I wasn't expecting this energetic rock song from Drakengard, definitely one of the more appealing songs to me I've heard from it so far. I'm really liking all the percussion that Gurumin uses, it makes for a very fun "jungle-meets-desert" vibe. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Mega Man Battle Network 6 - Two of Braves Tartaros Online - The Fox's Lair Drakengard 3 - Blissade/Egregori MATCH 1 Two of Braves has a really nice melody! My favorite part is the opening bit from 0:00-0:12. But overall, there's a pretty good arrangement with how full the mix sounds. Megalomaniac's too dissonant of a song for my tastes. MATCH 2 I can appreciate the dreamlike style that Menu is going for, but it just doesn't do anything for me. The Fox's Lair is pretty cool! Kinda reminds me of Bayonetta. The jazzy melody's pretty neat, though I wish it grabbed my interest a little more. MATCH 3 Egregori's one of my favorite boss themes from Drakengard 3! Raphael probably is my favorite boss theme, so shoutout to Two for having the best themes I guess haha. Everything here just works together starting with the electric guitar and the foreboding violin stabs. The violin especially is something that seems minor but has a big impact for me because it creates this atmosphere of trepidation, almost as though it's a warning alarm for the boss that you're about to fight. And then you have the fast-paced drums and the vocals to round out everything. It's really a shame that this song and The Merciless Savior have to exist in the same quadrant of the bracket because I really wish both songs could retire. The Phantom World has some really cool instrumentation to it! Every instrument works together really well to compliment the others, creating a rich melodic and harmonic sound. Though, I guess as far as its style goes, I just prefer other kinds of songs, hence why it's in the bottom half today lol. Though it's close with The Fox's Lair. Regardless, it's up against Egregori, a song I really like, so that's a hard match to win anyway. Blissade/Egregori > Two of Braves > The Fox's Lair > The Phantom World > Megalomaniac > Menu ...
