I friggin wish I could sleep without any aid. If I don't take my pills, I don't get tired until 1am or later. I didn't start taking pills until 2019 and they help so much. Even with my pills it can take 30+ minutes for me to fall asleep.

I used to, but I somehow inadvertently trained myself that playing Slay the Spire in bed means it's time for my brain to turn off. Sleep within ten minutes guaranteed.

Which is weird because I can drop hours on that game easy any other time.

The problem is the pills. It took me years to figure out I'd become dependent on the pills to sleep. If I didn't take them, I didn't sleep. Period. Nothing I tried to do worked until I finally decided to go cold turkey.

After what can only be described as the most miserable week of my life (awake for 5 consecutive days) I finally began sleeping normally again.

And I will never touch that shit again.

10-15mg of melatonin gummies on work nights. I would say light beer but it has its own negatives.

Dont need it. I work 2nd shift and go to sleep late, fall asleep within 5 minutes and wake up naturally when fully rested. Best schedule ever with a full time job.

No specific bedtimes and no alarm clocks.

I used to; still would if they had any effect on me now. But apparently I've built up so much of an immunity to them that I have to take two or three times the recommended dosage just to feel kinda groggy the first time I lay down. And then I wake up two hours later anyway.

I tried OTC pills a long ass time ago, don't remember the brand/type but the dose was two pills. First time I only took half a dose (one pill) because I didn't know how it would affect me. It didn't do anything. Second time I took a full dose, laid down on a couch, my muscles went completely lax, I could feel my heartrate slowing down but I couldn't move and I didn't really fall asleep any easier so it was more like sleep paralysis than anything else.

Never touched them again after that. And have always had sleep problems come to think of it. Oh well.

I tried melatonin. Made me "sleepy" but didn't put me to sleep. Did make my sleep deeper though, but that's not what I need.

I get infrequent bouts of insomnia sometimes. More frequent if anxiety is bad; but whenever it happens I basically can't sleep without something like ZQuil and even then I have to time things carefully. Have to lie in bed and read until I notice myself having trouble focusing on the words and then go to bed right then and there. If I don't I'll miss the window and won't fall asleep for like an hour or more.

Yup that window shuts quite quickly.

Or worse yet you sleep for like 15 minutes...and then your completely fucked.

No, I don't want to be dependent on a drug just to sleep. Been there done that. My problem was never that I had difficulty sleeping, it's that I always wanted to be sleeping, so my sleep schedule was very inconsistent and inconvenient.
