Even though Trump will probably be fined again on the contempt charge hearing tomorrow, I do expect the judge to scold him harshly and Trump will have to listen to every word of it. He deserves to be locked up, but if hes fuming about being told off, its something.

It's something, yes, but it isn't a deterrent that's going to prevent him from violating the gag order again. Trump has to be reined in if we're going to get a fair judgement from the jury, and a small fine isn't going to cut it.

Judge ain't gonna do shit, Trump pissed on his gag order about 7 times already, all these judges are afraid to cross that line of jailing a former president

I do think eventually a judge will put Trump in jail. Just remember January 1, 2023 everyone said Trump would never be indicated for anything. By September 1, 2023 Trump was looking at 90+ charges in four different cases.

Yes it would be a logistical nightmare but a judge could have the attitude of "I'm going to lock him up. It is your problem to figure out how to handle it." Of course the secret service could already have a plan in place should Trump get locked up that would protect him while he is in custody.

It's "funny" in that the people who accused black people of having this degree of insane fervor for Obama are the ones who actually feel it for Trump. It really is always projection with them.

I honestly don't think it would help him anymore than him coming outside and lying would do. In fact it would likely drive fence sitters away because he'd lie about what happened inside, yet they'd have the footage themselves to verify if it's true or not. His base is already fanatically whipped up and tapped out financially. I really don't understand the thinking that he would benefit more from it being televised than the general electorate who may make or break their vote depending on what happens to him during these trials.

Accurate media reporting is fine and all, however there's no replacement for what we see and hear for ourselves. Think about if Jan 6th wasn't televised live and all we had was reporters talking about. Not nearly the same impact.

I'd be so happy if he just locked him up until the trial resumes Thursday. Make him miss his day off to campaign. That might deter additional violations.

He also admitted to the crime and attacked Cohen on camera to reporters, which is specifically against the gag order. Guess we'll see tomorrow how stalwart for Judge Merchan actually is.

The redacted doc about Nauta doesn't make clear who told him that Trump / FPOTUS would pardon him "in 2024". Does that open the door to embarrass one of the defense lawyers in court for not understanding how presidential terms work since, if Trump wins in the fall, he wouldn't take office until 2025?

Goddamn, Jessica looks damn good. Also agreed with everything John said here. The media bubble is precisely how we got here in the first place. Yes, this is the most consequential event to happen to a former president since the last one that got assassinated, but for fuck's sakes, it's not that exciting.

Yeah, that's what I read. It's either $1000 or jail time. Not sure if it's $1000 per violation or $1000 max. The prosecution is saying Trump violated the gag order 10 times, I believe.

It's also kinda strange that Trump is violating the gag order in a criminal trial a lot more than he was in the civil fraud trial. Maybe because the judge hasn't yelled at him yet?

Trump literally spends so much time talking bullshit on Truth Social that 10 violations of the gag order collectively equate to only a first offense.

Basically, Merchan is close to operating on the presumption that the Trump team is acting in bad faith, which will translate into more scrutiny on their objections, direct examination, cross examination, etc.
