The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Game looks insanely good for the console it was on. Not sure what other standouts there are, Project Gotham Racing 2 doesn't quite hold up to Gran Turismo, Halo is amazing but technically not exceptional, and I think Half-Life 2 was on the original Xbox but that feels like cheating. --- Perhaps the golden rock was inside us all along. ... You are all forgetting a little game called Skyrim as far as major RPGs are concerned! Also The Witcher 3.

To answer the question in the first post, the PS2 was definitely more dominant than the PS1 in that I wouldnt say the PS1 had weaker competition as much as less competition. The N64 was more popular than both the Gamecube and the Xbox and had the highest selling game of the generation. PS2 is right up there, the only console that might top it in terms of dominance is the NES.
