Even under the best of circumstances - a "good cop" is covering for a shit ton of bad cops, whether they mean to or not. It's just statistics. You could say there would have to be SOME EXCEPTIONS, but that's no more worth mentioning than any other except, many of which, I'm sure YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO IGNORE.

Funny, when I worked as a cop, I never covered for anybody. But I guess evidence of corrupt police, which Im not denying exist in large quantities, makes it alright to just generalise about a massive group of people in your book?

But also, what the fuck are you talking about? In my time I mostly saw people act entirely professionally. This corruption that you speak of may not even have existed. So no, of course I wasnt trying to bring down the police force from within for some slight which isnt even perceivable. Youve also got to consider rank. What youre talking about wasnt my role at all.

However, there was one occasion where I witnessed unprofessional conduct. It was an arrest in which an officer was needlessly heavy-handed with the suspect. I suspect it was because the suspect had called him a feeble little paki. That said, it still wasnt on. Myself and a colleague intervened and took over the arrest, and when we got back to the station, our reports truthfully explained the situation.

The officer who had been overzealous was suspended with pay while it was investigated, and then suspended for a further two weeks without pay and made to do some sort of course as a result of the investigation.

But Im sure youll find a way to twist that into all cops being bastards.

Its fine when youre arguing against somebody making an absolute claim. You only need one example of them being wrong for their claim to be incorrect.

If their position is that there are a lot of corrupt cops, or that its a job that often draws in bad people, or something along those lines, Ive no issue with that.

But the claim that anybody who is, was or ever will be a cop is a bastard is ridiculous. Im willing to bet Ive done more good for the world than the vast majority of people who would use ACAB to accuse me of being a bastard.

DarkPrince45 really soured the mods on cops though.
