Most people like 7? I'd say its Code Veronica.

7 was overwhelmingly popular, reviewed great, and sold well but no one talks about it ever anymore. So in a way I agree. I wasn't nuts about 8. I didn't hate it, but it was incredibly short and I felt the marketing was a tad misleading with the vampire stuff. That section was over in what felt like minutes.

Instead it felt like an amusement park ride with distinct themed sections borrowing heavily from motifs in prior RE games.

IMO for the modern ones anyway,

RE2r > RE4r > RE7 > RE8 > RE3

Yeah that's what I've been thinking.

I find that it tends to be overrated by people that see it as a return to the horror roots of the series when it barely pretends to be a horror game more than any of the other REs and executes its ideas in really poor ways before devolving into the same shooter that every modern RE is except in an engine that is decidedly not made for precision movement and aiming. The most underrated RE is probably Revelations 1 or 2.

BTW, if it's not 7, then which is the most under rated. I heard Code Veronica.

7 is a great game, and I do prefer it to 8.

But my pick for most underrated is Zero. I really loved that one, but nobody else does, haha.

CV and 0, maybe. Probably 0. I personally hate that game though.

Hasn't this topic happened before? It is literally credited as saving the series and is one of the highest sellers. It is rated perfectly fine.

I'm going to say 5. Game often gets lumped in with 6, but is one of the most fun co-op games I've ever played

Gaiden is great considering it was a GBC game.

I'm not a big Resident Evil guy, but I was actually surprised at how long 8 actually was. I figured it was going to be a lot shorter, since most of what I remember about watching my friends play the older games was that they mainly take place in a small handful of areas with most of the gametime coming from the fact you have to go back and forth a lot.

It does feel kind of small.

I hadn't played a RE game in over a decade, and 7 was my reintroduction to the series. It was a great game, but the whole boat section could have been left off

I think 6 gets too much hate. Sure, it's not a great RE game but some people treat it like it's the Sonic '06 of the franchise. The actual gameplay is fantastic, and all you need to do is play the Mercenaries mode to see that.

It has one of the most fluid, engaging third person combat systems any game has had -- even to today. The amount of positioning flexibility in dives, rolls, going prone, dismantling enemies or overall just engaging with them is unreal. Too bad it's wrapped up in the worlds worst RE shell lol.

They've long since said if they focused on one of the campaigns, made the rest DLC (maybe) and polished up the graphics and presentation it'd have been a slam dunk. Luckily the dumpster fire sold enough to fund RE7 and the creation of the RE-Engine, which is why we're at the point we are today.

That doesn't matter, like at all. No one talks about Casablanca in random conversation but it is still regarded as one of the great all times. Why does people talking about it mean anything?

It was highly regarded, sold well, and is credited with saving the series. That is high praise, and if YOU (or anyone else) bring it up first, people will say the same thing. Thus, it is highly regarded as it should be.

It's definitely better than Village.

Resident Evil Outbreak 1 & 2. Those games were so fun to play online co-op with other people. I'm surprised it never took off with the majority of RE fans and became a big success. I would've loved to have a lot more than the 10 scenarios that we got between the two games.

5 is legitimately fantastic. Id put 4OG and the first REmake over it, but not by much.

no one underrates 7 lol, most people considered it a revival after 6.

I think 5 has good gameplay(fantastic multiplayer as well) underneath the racism and crap story.

I wont deny that 5 has a crap story but I do wonder why so many people bring it up, given that its in a series which has always had a crap story.

Id say it was racially insensitive rather than racist.

I think that would be revelations 1 or 2. Not that they're amazing or anything, just don't see them mentioned much

In fairness, its still not a good thing. I just dont think it gets to a level of full blown racism. That doesnt stop it being extremely tactless with the spear-throwing and grass skirts and whatnot.

Only games worse then 7 are zero and six. R3make barely etches it out.

I enjoyed 8 a bit more than 7, due to the third person perspective.

Every single player game is like that nowadays.
The only modern game that avoided that was Breath of the Wild.

Same. 4 is a solid game but it's a terrible RE with no connection to the other games and that goofy ass story. 5 takes the updated gameplay, makes it a little prettier, does fantastic day time horror, and finally shows a larger reaction to a post Raccoon City world. Also, one of the bet coop games ever.

Revelations is also extremely underrated. I think it's the perfect mix of old school style and exploration,new school gameplay, and Jill's ass. I can understand people not really knowing about it when it was released on handheld, but it's been widely available for years now. People need to get on the wagon.

I also think that RE6 is underrated. If you want a terrible mainline title, look at RE0.

Biohazard, Village, and 4 are the best of the entire franchise.

Calling RE7 underrated is like calling RE4 underrated

I just played 7 and Village for the first time back in October and ended up liking Village more. 7 starts out as classic RE but I thought it really dropped off after you leave the Baker ranch. I loved 8's campiness and it's similarities to RE4.
