Yes, Sling and Youtube TV provide similar services, as they replace Cable by offering the same channels. Hulu offers a similar service, as well.

Based on actual stats, the most popular streaming service is YouTube, the second most popular is Netflix, and pretty much everything else is a distant third at best.

People need to let go of cable. It's not coming back. Sick of these shitty cable networks striking up desperation deals with sports organizations making it harder for everyone to watch to prevent everything from going to streaming like it should

I didnt say cable was coming back. I said something like cable probably is, though. Which would be much better than paying for 100 streaming sites each Basically, something that packages them

Which would be better. Id rather package stuff like cable than having to buy a bunch of individual channels just because each channel has a few shows I like to watch

Plex

I can record over-the-air TV shows using my 4 channel SiliconDust tuner, then stream it to my TV, my computer, my phone, or my tablet, even away from home. Only had to pay for the tuner ($200) and a lifetime Plex Pass ($100), then that's it, no monthly fees or anything after that.

Cable has actually started doing that.

Multiple cable companies have deals with different streaming services, and are integrating the streaming service into their own architecture. So you can theoretically be on your cable/tv and jump to Hulu or Peacock or whatever. And then combining that with package service deals (like TV/streaming/Internet/phone/etc).

A friend of mine has Peacock and Pluto TV as part of his Optimum/Cablevision package, Verizon FiOS offers Hulu as an option, and we'll probably see more of this in the future as various streaming services all struggle to survive on their own. It's entirely possible that most cable companies evolve into becoming launching platforms for streaming and Internet service providers to offer an integrated experience for people who don't feel like subscribing to and setting up dozens of different streaming services.

Thats true. I actually have used my own cable provider for streaming some of the channels in the past. Like HBO Max (Now called Max, so believe)

And it honestly makes sense to move in that direction Which is just a new version of cable

At first, that was more of an exaggeration But I decided to look it up and found this

Which makes sense considering that like every channel basically has their own

My opinion on the ones listed. I voted for Max as a personal pick as it has several of my all time favorite shows.

Amazon prime video - Has some pretty good shows, but also a lot of average stuff at best. Movie selection is decent. With the extra perks for shopping this is a pretty good deal, but they recently added adds which lowers the value.

Disney plus/hulu - Bundle with Hulu this is a good deal. Disney plus is good if you have kids or like a lot of Disney movies/shows. The Marvel and Star Wars shows are my biggest appeal as I have no kids, but they have been a little hit or miss. Hulu has all the FX content which I find most of it is top notch (watch The Americans, Devs and Reservation Dogs people). I think this is one of the better ones when bundled. Hulu has some good movies, but the pickings overall are pretty slim.

Peacock - I recently got this on a deal for $20 for a year. They have the Office and Parks and Rec which are great sitcoms, so that adds a lot of value. As far as original content, I think they are lacking compared to others. I am currently enjoying Mr Mercedes, but I haven't found a lot else to watch that I am really interested in.

Paramount plus - I have only had this briefly on free trials. I know they have Star Trek shows but this one doesn't have much that appeals to me. I think if you bundle it with Showtime it could have some value. Showtime has some good shows like early Dexter, Penny Dreadful, Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Ray Donavon and Californication. So definitely some value here.

Apple TV plus - This probably used to be the best deal before they raised the price, but is still a good deal. Most of there shows are of high quality. Some of my favorites are Severance and Silo. This one is worth getting for a few months at a time. The movie selection is fairly lacking though.

Max - HBO was the king of quality for a long time. They still put out high quality shows, but there are some concerns with more recent moves like taking some shows off the service and a push of the discovery content. Overall though I think this is one of the best out there, especially if you haven't seen many of the HBO shows like The Sopranos, The Wire, Deadwood, Game of Thrones, Watchmen, The Leftovers, Rome, or Succession. They also have a pretty good movie selection.

Tubi - I have never used this, so no comment. I don't like ads.

Pluto tv - I have never used this, so no comment. I don't like ads.

Crunchyroll - If you like anime a lot this is probably worth it.

Netflix - The king of streaming. They seem to prefer quantity over quality, but they still do have a lot of very good shows. Some concern with any show you are watching may get canceled before it is finished. That is probably true with all others as well, but seems more common with Netflix. Netflix original movies are usually just okay, rarely being great, but often not being bad either. They cycle in a lot of good movies though as well.

One not mentioned is AMC. I think they have some pretty good high qualtiy shows they could merit a subscription occasionally. You also get Shudder, which is cool if you like horror, but a lot of it is of the B variety.

It is not good at keeping a continue watching spot. The menu is not intuitive and occasionally I would have to force stop the app and reboot it because it just didn't work properly. It could be better now, I haven't watched anything on there in about a year.
