Let's just say it's not a bad movie, but coming from the Kung Fu Panda trilogy it sure is a disapointment. One of the best moments in the Kung Fu Panda trilogy is when it slows down for the great character moments and allows for you to digest all the kung fu craziness that happens and Po finding out what he needs to learn to better himself to help others. This movie takes the complete opposite direction and is just non-stop "going through the motion" type of movie like they think the audience has ADHD or something. The worst part is that I don't think Po even grows as a person, he's still struggling with the "inner peace" thing that he was suppose to overcome in the second movie. Oh and they managed to make a worst and forgettable villain than the third movie when the first and second movie had excellent villains. The villains were what make the Kung Fu Panda movies great and while the other 3 villains are "in the movie" only Tai Lung has any speaking role and it's about as you would expect. And the director lied about the Furious Five, they're on a "different mission" and only show up until the credits without any speaking roles. What you got left is a buddy movie between Jack Black and Awkwafina that don't feel like they got any chemistry with each other.

With that said, the movie's fight chereography is still top notch with great animation, as you come to expect from Dreamworks films. It's a shame, I was hoping they would go with a different art style or something but you can't get mad at something that works.

Dreamworks probably didn't have any confidence in the movie. Heck, I know a lot of people didn't even know the movie came out because it was barely marketed. But yeah the movie felt pointless. The worst part is that the president of Dreamworks says there is going to be 2 more Kung Fu Panda movies coming out and if this is the best they got, I'm not looking forward to them. I just feel this movie misses the mark why the trilogy is so highly praised.

Damn what's next how to train your dragon 4? DreamWorks had their first perfect trilogy with Kung fu panda, a most unexpected source of quality animation, writing and voice acting from the studio behind the DreamWorks eyebrow face.

I feel like maybe I did know about this but can't remember, something about Tai lung coming back??? Or was that 3...

Job bait, unfortunately. He does have an extra line at the end and sort of gets redeemed but nothing significant.

DreamWorks probably put all the marketing for the movie into that Superbowl ad. Which was mid, too.

So, I wouldn't say they had NO faith, but it was never going to be as loved as the other three.

Tai Lung was the only reason I even watched this movie because I was hoping they would do something interesting with him...which I'll fully admit was all my fault. I mean the potential is there, imagine a buddy movie with him and Po instead?

It's average or mediocre. "Mid" isn't really that hard of a slang to figure out.

You know I would say that movie would be able to work live action, but I also said the same thing about Avatar The Last Airbender and was proven wrong twice.
