You misunderstood what I was saying there my guy. I was questioning what the point was of asking why the palestinians would want to leave their own country in the middle of a war. It didn't make sense as evacuation during conflict is common. Like, to stay alive should be a good enough answer right?

Where are are they supposed to go? No country is taking them in and why should they be kicked from THEIR land?

Will those civilians be able to come back to their land?
Will there be more Israeli settlements pop up while they're gone?
Is the IDF learning how to do their mission properly so that they wouldn't have to evacuate in the first place?

The simple fact is that no one trusts the Israeli government here. They've given dubious claims, shoddy evidence for said claims (if any at all), refuse to be transparent, and constantly don't do as they say they do.

Why should I believe that the Israeli government is actually capable of handling this situation properly?

They shouldn't be kicked from their land. Israel shouldn't have been attacked either. But we live in an imperfect world with terrible leaders and terrorist organizations. It sucks that no country is willing to take on the refugees. But it is what it is.

The user I was originally replying to was only asking why they would want to leave their own country, and my response was the same reason why the Ukranians are evacuating. People like living.

I think we're well beyond the point where any consideration should be given. Protesting outside the homes of average Joes who support Israel is just as valid as protesting outside the Israeli embassy at this point. Violence is wrong, but no Israel supporter should have a safe space from criticism. Not in their homes, not in their workplaces, not online, not anywhere.

Trying to work out what is happening at Kuwait Roundabout in Gaza City.

On March 11 and March 14 there were aid trucks and there were Palestinians waiting for food. Both times people were attacked with gunfire or artillery.

The IDF denies that they attacked on March 14 and goes on to say Palestine gunmen attacked the people and the trucks. IDF is not denying that they attacked March 11.

I am just trying to figure out what is being said.

This too tbh. Or at the very least, under sanctions comparable to those against Russia; or even better, total embargo. Israel are small enough that economic pressure may well be enough, without the need to resort to military action, IF other countries were willing to pull their heads out of their asses and actually enact (and enforce) them.

Lifting sanctions should also be conditional on handing Netanyahu and other members of the government, and all IDF personnel involved in the invasion, over to the ICC to be tried for war crimes.

You guys make some fair points re: sanctions but I'm uncomfortable at the notion that we shouldn't be condoning Israel getting attacked. We absolutely should be.

I mean, it should be on the table. But if there's a good chance of sanctions getting the desired result, then I think it's very fair to say that should be tried first. Not because Netanyahu or the IDF should be safe, but because the Israeli civilians should be; and while the outcome for them would be nowhere near as horrific as it is for Palestinians, there would still be civilian casualties in an attack. And it's preferable if that can be avoided.

Hasn't the stance always been for a ceasefire over the last few months? They've been working on that the whole time.
The in resolutions have failed due to bad political reasoning regarding language of the resolution, but the actual work behind the scenes has always been towards a pause in fighting.

US should have drafted their own un resolution from the beginning though if they and Israel were going to be so picky about language

The reason the previous ones failed was because the US vetoed them.

This is the first time the US calls for a sustained ceasefire in the UN, previously they only supported temporary humanitarian pauses at most. The shift in tone happened around a month ago. It's still just diplomatic pressure but it's more than the "expresses concerns" we've had up until now.

Biden must be under pressure from within the party. A president who supports a ceasefire wouldnt have bypassed Congress to send more weapons to someone they want to stop using them.

I guess I view the UN minimal towards getting a ceasefire, especially if the language of the resolution undermines the actual deal between the two parties that's happening in the background. In which case, both Israel and Hamas are declining the offers bring presented.

But yes, it's good that the US is the one drafting the resolution so that the two align closer I'd imagine

Their claim is that it doesn't go far enough. Which is true, but also no reason not to adopt it so there's at least something. It's not a case where adopting it means sacrificing other things, in this case it literally is a binary choice "yes" or "no".

The UN won't be useful in resolving this conflict at any rate...
