And how many do you use now? Meaning one at the end of a sentence.

We were taught to use two and apparently that's just a holdover from typewriters and lots of if not most people just use one. I can't help but to use two because it's been drilled into my brain by English and typing teachers.

I was taught 2, and I flip between 1 and 2. 2 if I'm writing a paper and need to pad it out >_> 1 otherwise

Taught two. Still use two, I think. May try to break habit. Hitting space twice to a period and space in texting has trimmed down. I don't hit space three times when texting.

Two is the only unambiguous sentence delimiter, since periods can occur with a single space within sentences.

Wasn't the only reason to ever use two was something about the spacing of a typewriter? Two spaces is unnecessary these days.

Doesn't matter. It was beaten into us to use 2 so it's not even a conscious thing. I've been trying to break the habit for years and will still catch myself using 2 if I' not careful.

1 is the correct way but i had some weird bluehair try to teach me to use 2 in keyboarding class in grade 2.

she also would dock marks if you didn't hold your palm down really hard on the mouse before clicking. wonder where she is these days, she was like 65 thirty years ago.

Same, only I'm 57. And one space was no problem on typewriters; I used them all the time until I got my first computer in '95.

Now I'm curious how two spaces even became a thing. Totally unnecessary.

I was taught to use one space. I only recently learned that the two space thing is a holdover from typewriters. My boss does the two space thing sometimes and I was baffled at why lol.

I started typing in third grade (97) and I do remember being told to double space for maybe the first year of lessons, if even that. Since 4th grade, it was single space and that's what I do now.
